Fresh Old Meat.. LOL
Hello to everyone! Yes, I'm Fresh Old Meat. FRESH because I'm a newbie (like mostly eveyone here.. XD) And OLD because well, I'm already 26 years old. >> I hate being a newbie. Just coz I hate being lost and awkward all over again, since I've been through that phase several times already. LOL. hopefully, i'll get a hang of this soon. Anyway, I have heard about menewsha for a long time already but I haven't come around to actually join because I was pretty busy on another avatar site. So now I thought that I better give this site a try.. being recommended by other avatar site users. I hope that indeed I will enjoy my experience here and meet new people and perhaps old friends as well. I'm currently a HIGHSCHOOL TEACHER (yes, dear lord, I AM one. XD) and I live in ASIA! Philippines to be exact. :) I bet there are other "Pinoys" like me out there so yay? XD and Mabuhay! I used to like watching ANIME a lot.. but I find it a bit tiresome and long at times so I end up reading MANGA instead. So much easier and faster! I'm currently into Skip Beat, Beauty Pop, Bleach, and Vampire Knight! I try to be updated on them as much as I can. I'm also very much addicted to coffee. XD Anyway, ^___^ hope to see and talk more with you guys! |
Welcome to Menewsha. Make sure to read up on the rules, lest you break one unknowingly.
|
Lol. No worries. That's the first thing I did! Especially since when I joined earlier, I couldn't post because the activation letter wasn't sent to my mail yet. It does get some getting used to. Thanks for dropping by Humple! ^__^ |
I had the same problem with my activation email. I just PMed a mod, and they activated my account for me. ^^
So what's up? |
You're not old darlin' I've got you beat by at least two years. So you're fresh young meat. ;p
Welcome, by the by, hope you're enjoying it! |
Welcome, kai~sensei.
My high school teacher turns 24 next Saturday. So, young teachers are nothing new to me. |
Welcome to Menewsha!
You're not old! We have a lot of older user here on Mene anyway, so you shouldn't feel out of place. :) But I totally feel you on not liking the awkward newbie phase. If you have any questions about the site, please ask. Otherwise, I hope that we live up to your expectations! |
Thanks for all the love folks! X3 I was able to get my activation by clicking the contact us on those links way down at the bottom of the page. I reported that I didn't get a letter and voila! I got one. @Leda: Well that's good to hear that I'm not the "oldest". That's why I always ask around whenever I join an avatar site. I try to keep updated and upbeat. And yay, I'm fresh YOUNG meat again. LOL. @Tut: :) Ah that's good to hear. Have you ever asked if any of your teachers joins avatar forums? LOL. That would be interesting. I have yet to meet someone like me (highschool teacher and joins forums.. LOL).. from the Philippines! @fiarra: Thank you. I hope to be as active here as I am on other forum sites! ^__^ |
Welcome to Menewsha kai~sensei! Very nice to meet you here. I think you will enjoy this site and make some really cool friends too. I had to laugh a little when you said you were old. Trust me, I am probably the oldest person here! LOL Its all good though because there are quite a few adults here and the atmosphere is so friendly. Hope to see you around! :)
|
XD well it does relieve the mind to find out that there are plenty of adults here.
not that i have anything against the teens.. but it would be nice to talk to people same age or older than me in forums such as this. in gaia, the teen population was overwhelming. i really felt "old" there. LOL. anyway, i hope to be able to talk to you again in the future Mysteria! |
Sweet! Someone whose already read the rules. I don't have to go into Mod Mode XD
Welcome to Menewsha, Kai-sensei! I was going to be a teacher, but realized that I had a big thing for the art world, so now I'm studying to become an artist instead. Although one of my teachers says she spies a teacher in me when I help other students with Photoshop, so I guess I'm doing both? haha! Unfortunately, college doesn't allow me much manga-reading, so out of those three, I only read Beauty Pop. I've been trying to read the others as well, but I've had no time. Hopefully this month, since I'm on break XD Have you read Kuroshitsuji? I've read a few chapters, and I love the art so far *_* And the sexy butler, of course >w> And please don't worry about your age! I know quite a few people on here that are older than you. Age has nothing to do with wanting to socialize and have a pretty little person to dress up. XD you're 26 years YOUNG >w< By the way, how's the teaching life treating you? ^^ |
@Platinum: It is becoming trendish, huzzah! Well, it does make your job easier, in any case, to not have to switch over to

@Kai: Yes, welcome! Greetings and salutations from the cold north of the US. High school teacher, huh? I always though of taking up that profession but I fear I don't have the patience, so kudos to you! Anyways, yes, you are definitely not old. One of my coworkers is about your age and he gripes about the same thing, lol. The population here is awesome; really laid back and easy going. I feel you will fit right in, never fear. If you ever become on the bored side of not having anything to do, feel free to message me (or any of the other lovely people on the site, for that matter) for a little chat! I look forward to getting to know you! See you in the world! |
Kierys:.Haha, that is definitely true. I can speed through the forums a bit faster that way >w<
|
@Platinum: well one can always be an artist who "teaches" art! lol. I love your avi! X3 purple is my favorite color. >> but somehow, my avi insists that she must be in red and blue. >> i think my avi is related to Ariel.. LOL. *coughs* I have read A LOT of manga, so of course.. I've read about Kuroshitsuji! I love the manga.. and yes.. the art is ... prettyful! XD but right now I'm in the phase of reading manga about people transforming themselves from "ugly or not so good" to "hot or pretty awesome" person. XD @Kierys: LOL. Well glad to know that I'm not the only one griping about it. LOL. Anyway, thanks for making me feel welcome. ^___^ |

LOL. meh. i get weird looks from some students especially if i talk about MANGA or ANIME. LMAO. for those students who already know me, they don't hesitate to ask me about the latest chapters and gossip about the anime/manga they watched! but for the rest, its always fun to see their reactions when i talk about naruto, bleach, or other anime/manga. sometimes, they would even ask me what i would recommend! i feel happy when they do that. because my goal as a teacher is to be also a friend to the students! ^__^ |
Well, Ive never really liked any of my teachers, but I would totally hang out with my choir teacher. [He's teh one that's turning 24.] Me and Alex [another choir student, and one of my best friends] totally skip first period just to go down to the middle school and hang out with him. [because he teaches middle school choir also.] Except its not really skipping because we get permission to leave school. We have leadership, and so we pretty much come up with excuses to leave. This is his first year teaching, and he really has a hard job because our choir was compared to a bad night of karaoke at the bar, and so he really has to turn it around. But everyone loves him. Except the people who aren't in choir or drama. They think he is gay. But they dont know him. So they dont know that he's not gay.
What class do you teach? |

hi
i'm new too, and i'm loving it XD |
...:o
You just declared yourself some kind of natural enemy to at least 70% just by saying your job :P! But the anime part kinda put some points back in, methinks *nods*. I personally ran away from highshool as soon as I can, so it's just some -bad- memories, so you are ok in my book :). Welcome to Menewsha! |
@Tut: The curriculum that we use in our school is unique. Its self study and the students use modules. So in one classroom, we can have many "different year level" students at the same time coz each student study a different set of modules. Each student works at their own pace. So me, as their teacher, has to be flexible and knowledgeable in ALL subjects. I act as their "tutor" when they can no longer understand the concept being explained in the module. So in my classroom, I handle freshmen up til juniors. That means that I have to teach them in basic algebra, geometry, and advance algebra. English and grammar. Earth Science, Biology, Physical Science (thats basic Chem and Physics) and Chemistry. Plus other subjects. LOL. >__> I'm still alive and kicking coz.. we have "answer keys." XD So just in case, we have answer keys there to help us know what is the right answer. But i still have to teach them the "HOW" factor. XP I dislike chemistry very much and I like English and Geometry. XD Hope that answers your question. @druindo: The system that we use in our school is not the same for the majority of the Philippines. The public school system has a traditional setup of teacher + blackboard type of teaching. And YES, they DO have finals. However in our school. WE DON'T. THat's because we use modules. At the end of each module, we give a teacher's test to check if they understood and mastered the content. They don't have finals BUT they are required to finish 3 modules per subject per quarter. XD School year here starts in JUNE and ends in MARCH. April and May is our summer vacation. We also have a week long sembreak at the last week of October. Christmas break is usally 2 weeks. Ours start on Dec. 19 and we resume classes on January 6. X3 @skedaddles: ^___^ hey. glad to hear you are enjoying your "newbieness" X3 @Artsy: LOL. I knew of the risks when I posted about my occupation. BUT I was pretty much sure that mostly people will think I'm cool (in real life, a bit weird. XD) because I'm a teacher that likes anime and manga. XD I know my students enjoy telling others that I actually talk and swap stories or gossip about the latest anime or manga in the market. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you at least didn't group me with the "bad memories" you had in highschool. LOL. ^__^ My highschool teacher was very nice and very close to me when I was studying. And he really made an impact on my life so I swore that if I teach highschool, I want to make the same impact that he did on me. ^___^ the school where I'm currently teaching is the same school where I graduated from. And that teacher is now the highschool principal of our school. |
Oh wow. That's quite an interesting way to set up a school system. Now, may I ask if you are actually from the Philippines? Or did you just move there to teach?
|
LOL. I live in the Philippines! And I've been stuck here most of my life. LOL. Yes I want to go out of the country (not to work but for pleasure.. LOL) hopefully by next year. I lived in Australia for 2 years with our family but we returned back here in the Philippines due to personal family reasons. So even though I have lived here, because of my stay in Australia was during my "language acquisition" years -- I get to speak good english. LOL. Actually, I prefer to read in English, watch English shows, and etc. LOL. I really want to visit the States someday. Hopefully very soon. ^^ |
Its nice to see older folks on these websites, though i'm only 15, but age diversity makes thses websites interesting.
|
Well, I hope you get to visit the states, too.
