Sho I jusht went to the dentisht'sh...

...And now I'm talking funny. It's quite amusing. I'm also contorting half of my lower lip in a funny way when I enunciate.

Anyway, I had to get a filling for pitting of my enamel (not a cavity) near the gums, and because my nerves were wired up, it took five shots of Novocaine to make my mouth numb enough to start drilling (the dentist and the dental assistant were baffled). And the sound the drill makes is--excuse my language--fucking terrifying. I was shaking violently and I usually have no problem whatsoever with going to the dentist's office.

So now half of my mouth, half of my lip, half of my chin, half of my esophagus (weird, I know), and half of my tongue are numb. But I have a silver filling now (my first filling ever), but you can't see it unless I stretch out my cheek and the corner of my mouth with my fingers and open wide.

So, Menewsha, here's the spoon: are there any interesting stories from dentists' or doctors' offices that you would like to share? Also, do you like the dentist's? Hate it? Are you terrified of any dental-related noises? Do you like the dentist you see? What was your most recent appointment for and what was it like?

Edit: Oh dear Bog, the pain! :gonk: The Novocaine wore off so I'm talking normally now, but those five shots are aching. I imagine this must be what lockjaw feels like, the dentist went to town on jabbing all over my gums with that last injection. He even squirted some in my mouth accidentally and it tasted horribly bitter. I think he was annoyed that I could still feel him jabbing at the pitted enamel.

Oooh fun! Lol, I don't have any fillings.

I don't really enjoy dentists... I had to go really often a couple of years ago because I had to use braces, on my first appointment mom told the dentist (without consulting me) that it was ok for him to remove a molar in that very moment... I was sooo not ready! xD I was 13 I think.
Anyways, it wasn't so bad. 4 molars had to be removed, the first 3 I had no problem... but the last one!! The anestesia (sp >.<) didn't worked lol, I had to be there for an hour or so without feeling any numbness :sweat:

I hate the dentist's office. I hate the instruments, the noise, the nasty thing they make you bite down on for the x-ray, the chair... Everything. I'm not sure why. I've never had any teeth pulled or anything. It's just creepy.

My last dentist visit was just for a cleaning.

This thread got the song "Some Beach" by Blake Shelton stuck in my head.

*head desk* i haven't been near a dentist for.. oh. hm. eight years? i can't do it. i have this fear i'll get an insane dentist who decides to pull everything out without any sedation. i'm too paranoid >_< good luck healing though.

I haven't been near a dentist in a few years.. I can't bear it. Dentists scare the LIVING HELL out of me. As do doctors.. Male doctors especially, and the Female doctor I have, I am CONVINCED is a lesbian. Every time she touches me to figure something out, it always feels sexual, and I don't like it. She like, caresses my tummy. Other doctors don't to that.

Maybe I'm just weird.. But Man, I hate those people D:

I am curious how Novocaine feels though. I love people when they're on it.

I knew you were going to say something like that xD

I wonder...
how it is to be a dentist. Most if the people are afraid of you and you just have
to handle that people are shaking in your compfy chair and sometimes crying.
:insane:

I had this 4 year old kid before it was my turn once. The mother said to the
kid while still in the waiting room: "You won't feel anything at all, realy".
Sure...
So at the very first touch the kid started screaming as if it got killed, :o
cause 'he felt something'. Just the gloved hands of the dentist herself xD
:angel:

Psssssssssssst. me neither.
But that is more because my dentist totaly flips and goes banana when I did not take
care a little bit better for my teeth, so she 'personaly' scares me, not with her devices.
Well, maybe a little then. Okay OKAY she hurts me all the time, but the flesh around
my teeth are quite sensitive D= boo!!

Elwing: My Dentist lady told me I should get braces for a very few very small toothical misplacements, so I vowed not to see her again for a VERY long time. I'm ALLERGIC to metal, man. BUTTONS ON JEANS make me break out real bad.. What the hell would I do with a bunch of metal in my mouth? Even the hypoallergenic stuff messes up my skin and makes it itchy and crappy and whatnot.

Uhm, the metal in your jeans buttons isn't anti-allergic, braces however are. I do as well get a rash when I wear some of my jeans which buttons have more nickel (I don't know the english word for it sorry) than normal buttons do, it's also found in coins but never in braces^^ Do you happen to have your ears pierced?

PsycArtist 01-09-2009 06:43 PM

Aww I'm sorry. D: When my dentist pulled my canines out (yes all of them...my mouth is too small) I had a similar issue. o.o I almost ate my bottom lip from the novicane.... I suggest drinking colder drinks. Not ice cold, but colder than room temperature. When its too icy it tends to hurt. x_o;

As for stories, I have one...
When I was little I had severe ear aches all the time. I would get double ear infections on a regular basis, even as an infant. Naturally, I had to take medication for the infections. Since I had to take so much medicine, one of my teeth grew in rotten. So, as a small child I had to go to the dentist and have my tooth drilled, and capped. According to my mom (I don't remember this at all), they had to strap me down to the chair and practically tranquilize me. o_o; Interestingly enough, I have no fear of dentists offices. You think I would after a traumatic experience like that...xD;

@Clorissa: I have a metal allergy as well, though not as bad as yours, and braces were fine for me. :3 There are nonmetal braces now too if you can get them (though they sometimes wreak havoc on your gums D:).
