He's pitying himself because he f'd up in school and his overall gpa when he graduated college is too low for him to have any chance at going to a Law school here in NY. He's feeling sorry for himself and is depressed about it. Last night he pitied too much and got very drunk and was an a-hole last night and said mean things about himself, and was an a-hole to me at one point when all I was doing was calling to see if he was ok because he signed off without saying good night. Tonight he's feeling bad about everything and last night. Nothing I am saying he seems to be letting sink in. He is responding with one word answers and isn't really talking. I'm sick of him being in a pity mood. I'm feeling like I'm failing him because I don't know what to say to him right now because I've said everything I could.

Ah. Oh my. I'll be keeping him and you in my prayers.
