The guard merely smirked at Slyth's reaction but, again, said nothing. He didn't know what Narick wanted him to know so he found it best that he knew nothing, at least from him until he knew one way or the other. He eyed the cow, suspiciously though, not liking how it was growing like that. He doubted it would be able to break open the cage, it was made from solid steal but that didn't allow him to just dismiss the matter.

~~*~~

Narick made sure that every last drop had been injected into his brother before dropping the syringe into a bin and leaving the room, those who had followed him following him out as well. Dannyl was still screaming, and would be for several hours until he either screamed himself hoarse or fell unconscious, whatever came first. Or, he thought idly, he could die. But Narick doubted that; he had given him a lot, it was true, but not enough to be fatal. Not quite.

Now, though, it was time to uphold his end of the bargain. He had to let Slyth go. Of course, he hadn't said he wouldn't merely recapture him afterwards, but he had to let him go first.

Entering the room Slyth was held in with two others, the guard stood up and followed as well. "Today's your lucky day, cow-freak," Narick said in a conversational tone. "Word from higher up the food chain than I has decreed that you should be let go. At least for now. I would suggest you run, and run somewhere Dannyl wont find you again and lure you back here. Afterall, he did such a wonderful job 'protecting' you the last time, telling you to run away from him where he had no hope to protect you, didn't he?" he said, effectively, in his mind, severing all ties the two would have and any reason why Dannyl would have to leave again.

He pulled a key out and unlocked the door, but held it closed using his lycan strength so that even should the cow in there ram it, it would not budge. "Now, get rid of that cow and I'll let you out," he ordered.

Tegian 02-13-2009 03:05 AM

Slyth had stopped yelling at the man shortly, as he was getting no replies about what it was they were doing to Dannyl. So he had sat himself where he had stood, though the cow was just about ready to ram into the bars when Narick entered the room. Slyth shot to his feet and tightly grasped the bars, "What are you doing to him!?" He yelled, his voice full of fear and sadness. "Stop hurting him!!" He would have yelled longer, but Narick had said he was free to go. He stared in blank surprise for a few moments. "B-but.. wh-what about.. Dannyl?" He asked as he backed away from the cage while Narick approached it.
And again, his mind was jolted into thinking that perhaps Dannyl wasn't really a friend, that the man merely wished to eat him. The thoughts were forced away, afterall, this was the lycan that had destroyed his life that was trying to convince him of this. And, now with the door unlocked, he could try something. So, he made his cow leave and would now wait till he was outside the cage to do anything. Afterall, he had to get Dannyl out of here as well.

emeraldeye 02-13-2009 08:56 AM

"What about him? He agreed to this," Narick said. "We're making him better, stronger. Unfortunately that does come with some pain but he'll get over it. You should be more concerned with yourself rather than that traitor," he snapped. "Afterall, you're still in a manor full of lycans," he said, snapping his sharpened teeth towards him in a threatening manner.

When the cow disappeared he opened the cage and stepped aside. He and all those in the room stood at the ready incase the cow-freak tried to start some kind of trouble. They would easily subdue him, knock him out and simply toss him out if he tried anything.

((ugh crap post))

Tegian 02-15-2009 02:50 AM

Slyth jumped when Narick snapped his teeth at him, which caused him to nearly fall to the ground. His heart skipped a few beats then, as the man now came into the cage. Slyth thought that surely he was simply going to kill him now and be done with it, and the thought paralyzed him for a few moments. But, Narick didn't do anything other than stand there. So, after what seemed like an eternity of standing there in complete fear, Slyth's mind returned some motor control.
He moved towards the exit of the cage, keeping as much distance between himself and Narick as he could. Once he reached the open cage door, he suddenly bolted for the open door of the room. As soon as he exited the room, many cows apperaed in the doorway, completely blocking it so the lycans could not leave the room. Others were sent out ahead of slyth to protect him from any lycan's that tried to stop him.
He went directly to the room Dannyl was in, as it wasn't hard to miss the room from which the horrible painfilled screams came from. A cow busted itself into the room first, followed by others to attempt to keep any lycans in the room away from him and Dannyl. Slyth made way to the poor pained man and shakingly reached out to him. "Dannyl.." He said in a very quiet voice, tears now streaming from his eyes again as he saw him in such a horribly painfull state. It was much worse than simply hearing him. "Come one Dannyl. We have to leave now.." He spoke as he now went to try and remove the binds from Dannyl.

emeraldeye 02-15-2009 05:47 AM

Narick let Slyth go, knowing where he was headed and not worried in the least about what he would do. He knew he wasn't about to get the locks undone and Dannyl wasn't going to of much help for some time yet, and even afterwards he would be too weak.

*

For the most part, Dannyl's screams had died down to moans, though occasionally they would rise in pitch and volume again to a scream as his pain levels rose and fell, though it was very hoars since his thorat was sore and dry from his earlier screaming. His hands and feet yanked at the chains weakly.

He was only semi-conscious as he writhed around on the bed, and at some distance he heard Slyth's voice and he rolled his head towards him so he could see him. "Leave," he whispered in his strained voice. "Run while you can-" he broke off abruptly as he clenched his teeth and a moan escaped his lips, the pain rising once more.

Tegian 02-17-2009 06:24 AM

"B-but I.. can't just leave.." He whimpered out as he continued trying to get the locks undone. He even tried bashing the locks with his hooved hands, but that was of very little help. "You have to.. come with me Dannyl... You can't stay here, with them.." He tried speaking in a reassuring voice, but it just made him sound even more upset than he already did. A whimper and sob would always escape him when Dannyl moaned and screamed in pain. He couldn't, he wouldn't leave Dannyl here to go through this. He was his friend, or so he forced himself to believe anyways. Narick's story was still trying to borrow its way into him afterall.

{Gawd I know. ttly lame D: D:}

emeraldeye 02-20-2009 12:32 PM

"Slyth leave!" Dannyl shouted, then immediately regretted his harsh words, brought on through his pain and agony. "I'm sorry," he said. "But if you take me my word is broken and they'll lock you up again and eat you with the full moon. You have to go!"

His teeth were clenched as pain shot through his body once more but he just rode it like he always did. "This is nothing, it will go soon. But you have to go, now why you can. They'll keep their word but only if you don't ruin this side of the arguments. Narick is the only one with the key so you wont get me out anyway."

((crap i know))

Tegian 02-28-2009 05:57 AM

{Sorry it took me so long to post x____x }

Slyth jumped and jerked himself away from Dannyl when the man yelled at him to leave. The poor cow event tripped over himself and toppled to the floor with an 'umpf'. The total fear returned to him now, though he somehow managed to keep his body from paralyzing itself. He didn't seem to hear a single word Dannyl had said after he had yelled. Slyth picked himself up as fast as he could before scrambling from the room, terrified, though also incredibly sad and worried. Dispite his mind working itself into not trusting Dannyl, he still found it difficult to just leave him there, in the hands of the other lycans.
His terror beat out will to stay, he had to leave, flee, run and get away from the lycans and their den.
So, he ran. Ran through the building till he found his way out. Then ran and stumbled his way away from the building. Going as far as he could before he had to stop and let himself calm down.

{x___x So much lame in this post}

emeraldeye 03-01-2009 12:20 PM

Dannyl squeezed his eyes closed as tears formed beneath the lids. The last thing he had wanted to do was scare Slyth, he had worked so hard to build trust between them. But he couldn't stay, he had to leave or he would die, and die a horrible death.

Now he was left alone.

Dannyl's pain levels rose and fell, and he felt himself drifting in and out of conciousness with them until, eventually, he found himself curled on his side, the chains undone and a glass of water sitting on the bedside table. Sometime while he was unconcsious, someone had come in and undone the locks. He was left feeling extremely weak such that it took a trememdous amount of effort to actually reach the glass and take a drink from it. He was so thirsty it was gone in a moment.

His mind turned to Slyth, wondering where he was and how far he had gotten in the hours he was sure to have been unconscious for. He hoped far away. He knew his kinsmen would hunt him again at the earliest oportunity if they hadn't already and, for now, there was nothing Dannnyl could do about it. He was too weak to even move very far, let alone escape.

*2 days later*

Dannyl's strength returned slowly. He was kept in his room but it wasn't like he didn't know how to escape from it by now. He just chose not to for the moment. He was fed meat which, to begin with, he didn't eat but then he became so hungry that he ate it anyway. At least it was cooked. He also played weaker than he was so that the time between his doses was extended. He was normally given three days recovery time before more was injected so he had to leave now. He knew the process was working, which was disturbing in itself, but he wasn't about to hang around and be tortured by his brother any longer.

When he judged the time to be right, and at night when most would be asleep, he slipped through a secret passage he had discovered soon after he had been turned, before this whole idea was dreamt up. Everyone thought he had just been really stealthy and got past the guards when he left before but really this was a tunnel that lead outside the town.

Once outside he ran as fast and as far as his weakened body could take him. South. He would go south. To the deserts and the desert people. Narick, he knew, loved the cold and hated the heat. It wouldn't deter him for long but maybe just long enough.

He got maybe several miles away before his exhausted body began to give out so he allowed himself to slow and come to a stop by a creek where he sated his thirst and simply lay down where he was to sleep.

Tegian 03-07-2009 03:03 AM

As the days slowly passed, Slyth wandered from one place of hiding to another, only staying in one for a couple hours before moving on. He hadn't been consiously thinking about where he was heading, but late into the second day of aimless wandering, he found himself at the little building he had called home just a few days ago. For some reason, it seemed so very strange to lay eyes apon the building, and he also felt rather scared. He didn't know why.
Dispite the feeling of being scared, he approached it slowly. The door was still broken in, and everything else was in the exact way they were left in. He only stayed outside though, he knew he should not stay there. Esspecially since he was sure the Lycan's would come for him again, and that was likely the first place they would look. So, he just stared at the building for a few moments and only when he went to leave did the feeling of fear replace itself with complete sadness.
He felt just like he did when his family died. Returning home to find everything was horribly broken and gone. Knowing he would never see his friends and family again.
He fled.

{wtf lame o____o}

emeraldeye 03-09-2009 01:09 PM

Dannyl slept lightly, waking at any sound. He was exhausted, his body still weak from the huge amounts of silver injected into his body as well as emotionally, regretting having been so nasty to Slyth to get him to leave. And he missed his home, he realised, and all it's basic comforts. But he could never go back, not even to get any of his carvings. There would be more lycans there waiting for him. South was his only option, to the desert.

Dannyl dozzed on but hearing someone or something approaching he opened his eyes and rolled on to his other side, so his back was to the river, watching the area somewhat sleepily. His eyes were no longer the hazel with golden flecks but were now a silvery colour still with the gold flecks most lycans had. The injected silver was still in his system and while his eyes would fade slowly to their orriginal colour but that would take weeks.

His eyes widened slightly when he saw Slyth emerge from the bushes. He hadn't expected to ever see him again. He remained quiet, just watching him with his tired, changed eyes. He had scared him too much when he suddenly announced himself previously and he wasn't sure if Slyth wanted to have anything to do with him. And he was too tired and weak to do anything at the moment anyway. So he just waited, hoping that Slyth would notice him and not hate him.

Tegian 03-11-2009 03:30 AM

After a few more hours running, or at least, it seemed like hours to the poor frightened cow. Slyth had to let himself stop and rest beside an old dying tree. He was just about to allow himself to sit down, and get off his very tired hooves, when the sound of rushing water drifted to his ears. He looked around vaguely, trying to determine its direction. He hadn't had anything to drink for so long, and with the sound of water, he only just realized how thirsty he really was.
So, without letting himself rest yet, he could do that at the river, as that's what he assumed it was, he started again. He stumbled and tripped quite often on his way through the forest, looking for the river. Eventually, he broke through the last of the bushes and fell flat to his face at the river bank. He pushed himself up to his hands and knees slowly and crawled to the river before thirstily shoving his head down to the cold waters and started drinking.
For now, he took no notice of anything around him besides the refreshing, delicious waters. Apparently, he hadn't realize how tattered his clothes were either.

emeraldeye 03-12-2009 05:45 AM

Dannyl smiled softly to himself as he watched Slyth approach the river a little way away from Dannyl. It was a wonder the cow creature had managed to survive so long, Dannyl thought to himself, if he was so oblivious to Dannyl's pressense when he was making no attempt to hide himself he would be found easily.

"Glad to see you're alright," he said softly, his voice quiet in an attempt not to startle him. He was glad, he had been worried his brother would have twisted the deal around already and hunted him down. He supposed it was still possible. He hoped that Slyth didn't hate him now, once he regained his strength he would be at least slightly stronger, maybe be able to protect him better. "I'm... sorry for snapping before. But if I hadn't you wouldn't have left and I didn't want you hurt," he said. He didn't add the fact that he was in so much pain he couldn't help it. Didn't want to admit that. He just hoped he hadnt ruined any trust he had gained, he and his changed eyes if Slyth noticed them. He was unaware of the seed of doubt Narick had placed already.

Tegian 03-14-2009 05:27 AM

Slyth had only gotten himself a few gulps of water from the refreshing river when Dannyl's voice suddenly came from not to far away. Slyth gave a startled cry and nearly fell into the river as he bolted to his feet then fell down to his ass from standing much to quickly. He stared at Dannyl for what seemed like days before he managed to say anything. "D-dannyl?" He asked, as if not believing he was really there. He started to move, as if he were going to get up and go to him, but Slyth stopped. Something clicked in his mind. He was suddenly thinking about how Dannyl wanted to eat him. The lycan was probably saving him, waiting for him to gain some meat on his bones before he wanted to chow down.
Outwardly, Slyth shook his head, trying to get the thoughts from his mind. Half of him wanted to say that Dannyl was his friend, that he was trustworthy, but the other part argued that he was Lycan. He would, rather, will, eat him. Without realizing it, Slyth had even moved himself into a position that would allow him to get up and run if Dannyl did anything to sudden.

emeraldeye 03-14-2009 07:19 AM

Dannyl couldn't help but smile slightly when even his soft, gentle voice caused him to startle so suddenly. He was still so adorable in all his childish clumsiness. His smile faded though at the cautious wariness he showed. He didn't want Slyth to hate him or fear him but at least he hadn't run away at first sight of him. Maybe that meant he could redeem himself.

"Please don't be frightened," he said, still keeping his voice soft and gentle. "I would be unable to hurt you even if I wanted to, I'm too weak for that," he said with a small somewhat sad smile. It was true. He was too exhausted to even go looking for food, let alone lead a chase after Slyth. Which was why he hoped, hoped with all his heart, that Slyth would choose to stay. He had grown used to his company and longed for it after so long being alone. If he rested here for the night, then he'll probably be able to continue on his way, but not for now, he had pushed himself too far for that.

Tegian 03-21-2009 02:47 AM

"I.. I'm not scared." He said after a few long moments of staring wide eyed at the man. It was quite obvious he was in no shape to do anything other than lay there on the ground, possibly push himself up but other than that... Slyth mustered up his courage before slowly getting to his hands and knees and crawling over to the man, though he did manage to keep himself a good couple feet away. "A-are you... o-kay?" He asked in a shakey sort of voice. He was scared being close to him like this, but he still trusted Dannyl somewhat, dispite the seeds of fear that were starting to take bloom. "Do you.. need... a-a-any-th-thing?"

{so scared O:}

emeraldeye 03-21-2009 12:03 PM

Dannyl smiled softly when Slyth crawled a little closer to him. "Not really," he answered. "But I will be in time. Narick injected a lot of liquid silver into me and I don't know if you know, but silver is poisonous, deadly to lycans. I'll live, but it will take time to fully recover," he explained, not sure just how much Slyth knew of his kind.

He smiled again when Slyth asked if he needed anything. "Just some company?" he asked, almost hesitantly as well. "I've missed you. It seems silly how quickly I grew accustomed to you living with me and how much I enjoyed it that the last week or so has been very lonely with no one who truly cares about my welfare." He wanted Slyth to forgive him, to move closer to him and not be afraid of him anymore, maybe even lie with him, nothing else so forward, but Dannyl realized he longed to feel another close to him, someone to hold and comfort and be comforted by. But he could never ask that. Not after yelling at him so cruely the other day. No, he would lock that side of him away. At least for now.

"I'm planning on moving south, towards the desert. Narick doesn't like the heat, lycans don't tend to fare too well there. Would you like to travel with me? I've never been there before but I heard it's quite exotic," he said, taking a bit of a step forward in asking Slyth to join him. Maybe, just maybe, he would say yes, and things could go back to normal. He hoped so. He didn't like the thought of Slyth being too afraid of him.

Tegian 03-22-2009 06:26 AM

Slyth was silent for a long time, staring at Dannyl with a confused look to his face. "B-but.. I.. umm.. I was told Lycan's didn't like cold.. I was heading to the mountains.." He looked as though he were about to tear up and cry. How could someone have lied to him, telling him to go to the mountains when it was the deserts Lycan's did not like. He had been heading further and further into lycan territorry apparently. No tears fell though, he had forced them back.
Now that he knew that, he would have to go back. He had been traveling months in the wrong direction. He sighed. "I'll... i'll.. go with you..to the desert" He said slowly, unsure. He still thought Dannyl wanted to eat him, but the man was weak. If he did anything suspicious, slyth would leave, cut all ties. Though, even the thought of doing that pulled at him. He still liked dannyl, dispite the fear that had been placed into him. He knew he should offer to help remove the poison from Dannyl's body, but he found that he didn't want Dannyl recovering to fast.
Though, that made him feel absolutely horrible, what kind of person was he, if he was so willing to let someone suffer!? He almost wanted to smack himself for being so stupid as to not offer to help. "Dannyl.. Do you want me to try.. and help?" He asked.

emeraldeye 03-22-2009 11:49 AM

Dannyl looked to Slyth with a profound sadness when he revealed that he had been lied to and someone told him to go north away from lycans. He shook his head slowly. "Lycans thrive in the cold and there is always a lot of meat. Not enough creatures to eat in the desert and the sand and grit gets in the fur," he explained.

He felt his heart swell though when Slyth said he was willing to come with him and he grinned broadly and greatfully. "I'm glad," he said truthfully. "I like your company. I don't know what Narick said to you but whatever it was, it wasn't true. And I know he would have said something. He doesn't want to give me any reason to leave and if he thinks I think you will hate me." He smirked. "But I left anyway."

He turned his attention back to Slyth when he offered to help and smiled. He held out a hand, wanting to hold him, at least touch him, as though to reassure himself that this wasn't just some kind of perfect dream. "I don't know if you could really. Or if you should. I know it sounds horrible but orriginally I did actually agree to this. Of course, that changed when I realized what it involved but that hardly mattered to Narick. Give me a few hours to rest some and I'll be able to keep moving," he said.

((lame-o))

Tegian 03-24-2009 07:48 PM

Slyth nodded slowly. What Dannyl was saying about the lycans liking cold made sense. Animals that lived in colder enviroments had to be fatter to help protect themselves against the cold. Only natural Lycan's would love the north. He sighed. Perhaps the person who told him to go north was a lycan looking to send a stupid little cow to his death. The thoughts about that were soon shaken from Slyth's mind though, when Dannyl started talking about Narick lying. Slyth gave a slight nod. It did sound like it could be true, but the seeds of doubt had already started to bloom. It would take awhile to kill them.
"Dannyl. You rest. I'll find us something to eat." Slyth said with a smile as he got up to his feet. His mood had changed to a happier one suddenly as he realized Dannyl got the better of Narick. He ran off happily into the woods to find something for the two to eat. It had been getting quite cold over the past week, so it would be harder to find any fresh fruit or vegitables. But, some tree's may still have something on them.

~

Slyth came back about an hour later, his hands full. Mostly, he had grass and some not so edible looking 'vegitables.' There were also a couple peices of fruit. "Here you go." He said as he put the roots and fruits beside Narick. "That was the best I could find around here. But, don't worry, its all good to eat." He added with a smile as he took a bit of his grass and started to eat it slowly while watching Dannyl.

emeraldeye 03-25-2009 12:37 PM

"Alright," Dannyl said, though his voice was laced with sadness. Slyth hadn't taken his hand like he had hoped. Looks like Narick had already done his damage and it would take more than pretty words to reassure Slyth. Well, one thing at a time. For now he had to recover his strength so they could move south and start a life elsewhere. What he said about the reasons behind lycans prefering the north to the south but, of course, he was a lycan too and was going to have his own problems down there. No food was the first. But he would come up with a way to manage it. He had to. He couldn't keep living like that, waiting for the pain to pass only to get another injection. In truth he was surprised Slyth hadn't asked him about that yet, and why he had actually agreed to it to begin with.

He allowed himself to sleep some and actually accidentally slipped into a deep sleep, such that he actually didn't wake when Slyth came back. It was a dangerous move really, what if it had been a lycan, able to move much more silently, that snuck up on him? He would likely either be dead or recaptured. Opening his eyes, he smiled his closed-lip smile at Slyth. "Thank you," he said, and he pulled himself up to a seating position. He was probably feeling strong enough to move on now, thanks to his little sleep. He ate the food he was given, not caring much for what it was or its taste. He had eaten just the same before, worse things sometimes since he refused to eat meat while in his human form.

"I am grateful," he said softly. "For you willing to stay with me I mean. Not that I understand it, were I you I doubt I would be willing to. But thank you."

Tegian 03-27-2009 06:00 AM

Slyth sighed lightly, the happiness he had felt before he left was mostly gone by now. He was thinking about the things Narick said as well as just random, fleeting thoughts. He soon shook his head after realizing the only likely reason he was agreeing at the moment. "Don't be to happy." He said in a low, quiet voice. "I'm only going with you because you are sick." He frowned, "Otherwise, I don't know if I would still even be here at the moment.." He didn't want to keep talking. It was making him feel bad and he was sure it was making Dannyl feel worse. But, he had to say it. He couldn't lie to Dannyl. So, to keep himself from having to talk, he started munching on the grass he had gotten for himself.

emeraldeye 03-27-2009 02:21 PM

"Oh," Dannyl said, slightly deflated. He knew Slyth wasn't saying it in a way to hurt him, but it hurt nonetheless. So he was only doing it, staying with him and saying he will accompany him because he thought it was the right thing to do. He rested the root he was eating on his lap and lowered his gaze. "I see."

He was silent for some time, not really sure what to say. He didn't want to upset Slyth but at the same time he didn't want pity. "In that case, then you needn't stay. I don't need pity and I have lived with this long enough to know how to handle it. You caught me at a bad time, that's all," he said. His voice was quiet but firm. Trying to lock away the pain and hurt he felt inside him. He wanted Slyth to come with him but not if he didn't want to and not if he only came because of pity.

((crappity crap crap))

Tegian 03-28-2009 02:03 AM

Slyth looked up to Dannyl, confusion set in his eyes. He stared at him for a few seconds before he shook his head, "No Dannyl, you got that wrong. I'm not going with you out of pity. I'm going because its safe to travel with you. You are to sick to atta.." He stopped talking as he stared at Dannyl wide eyes before abruntly looking away. He felt bad now, so very bad. He didn't mean to sound so horrible. "Uh.. umm.." He said as he stood to his feet abruntly. "C-can we go now.. Do you feel well enough to travel?" He tried to get Dannyls mind away from he said as soon as possible, and perhaps the thought of leaving this cold climate with it's lycan's would help. But, he knew the damage had been done.

emeraldeye 04-19-2009 10:14 PM

Dannyl felt hope begin to flare when Slyth said that he was travelling with him not out of pitty but because he felt safe with him. Maybe that meant that he trusted him enough to look after him, to protect him from dangers. But then he continued, stopping too late for Dannyl not to know what he was about to say. He looked down, his gaze fixed on the ground, hurt and unable to hide it well. And here he was wanting some measure of closeness and comfort from Slyth. He was foolish, stupid, to want something like that which he would never be able to get. Why did he always do this to himself? One would think he would have learnt by now.

"Yes," he said woodenly as he reached up and grasped a branch above his head and used it to pull himself up. He felt a wave of vertigo at the movement but rested himself against the tree until it passed. At least, he supposed, he might have the time to prove himself, to prove that he would never harm Slyth, but that would depend on whether Slyth left him after he was completely well again.

He started walking south again, continuing the river along its winding course. He knew this area well and knew when it diverted and when it was easier just to follow it. "What did Narick say?" he asked eventually, his voice soft and gaze fixed on the ground. He wanted to know what he was up against, what he had to prove wrong.
