Ivan was almost completely asleep when Iris came back to him, carrying some stuff. He gave a bit of a yawn as he looked up at Iris, trying to check on what it was he had brought along. But it did confuse him a bit that he had gone and gotten such old bandages. Didn't they have bandages along themselves, or did Iris take them out again because 'nothing ever happen anyhow'? As Iris started wrapping his leg up, he winched a bit, since it hurt to have his leg moved, even a bit. "Ow... Iris... Didn't we take some bandages... ow... along ourselves...? And did you find a way out?" |
Iris shook his head."No, I don't think we thought that we'd be standing on the house, and I saw a door, but it seemed to be blocked."He then sighed."I wonder if anyone knows where this place is."He contunied to wrap his friends leg,and Iris stated."Relax, it's not going to hurt much longer, but try and stay still."
After another moment Iris finished fixing up Ivan's leg."Sorry, That I didn't bring banages, but we do have splints."He then moved his bag on his lap,and opened it."So they might hold the bandages in place better than the bandages themsleves.Iris then took his leg gently, and placed the wooden sticks on each side of the leg, then he tied it with a piece of string."There, that should hold."He said leaning back away from Ivan's leg."So I do come prepared sometimes."The elf then added chuckling. |
Ivan just sat and tried to bear with it till it was over. And when Iris was finally done, it was such a huge relief. But there was still an aching pain lingering in his leg. He really needed something to keep himself busy for a while and forget about the pain. So he looked up at Iris, with a bit of a pained and strained smile. He probably looked a bit ill, since he was somewhat pale and sweating, but that was just because of the pain, so it was nothing to worry about, even if it probably didn't look that good. "Iris, did you find anything they have left behind for me to read? I need something to do to get my mind off the pain for a while." Probably wasn't much sue to give Ivan the book written in the elven language, since, most humans couldn't really read that. Ivan could read it, but he was not that good at it. He just understood basic words, but that was still more then the average human. But if he was to keep himself busy, he needed something better then a book of illnesses and such to read. |
"It looks like a journal..."Iris stated placing it infront of him."I'm not sure what langauage it's written in though, since it's just a plain cover, but if it's in elvish, then I can help you if you need it."He then added moving to sit in a more comfortable position. He then let out a sigh, and looked around."I wonder why anyone would build a house in the middle of nowhere...."He then stated.
That question seemed to be bothering him the most. If anything build it near other people, you'll get more interaction with others, but they seemed happy where they were so maybe they wanted to be alone in the forest like this. |
Ivan took the journal that was handed to him and took a look at it, blowing some dust off of it before he opened it to take a look. It was written in the normal language. Kind of made sense. Since they both had obviously been of completely different race, they would of course write in the international language so that both of them could read. Ivan looked at Iris for a moment, giving him a smile. "Should I read it out loud, or you want to read it by yourself later?" Ivan didn't mind reading something out loud. It was rather fun doing so. Specially around his friend. And that saved them both some trouble. It wouldn't leave the other bored while the other read, and then the other having to go trough the boring task to read trough a book and leaving the OTHER bored. Was way faster to just read out loud. |
"You can read it out loud if you want. This may also help to get someone to find us."Iris said changing his position so that he was laying on his side rather than up straight. The elf loved having things read out loud to him, it was easier to follow than having him read it by himself, Iris focuses on the words too much, and loses the imagry, but when he's read to he can easliy loose himself in the picture he sees.
|
Ivan gave a smile at that. This would without a doubt keep his thoughts away from his leg for a while. And there was allot written in the book too, so it should keep them busy for a while. At least till the sun went down. They had nothing to burn down here. The only things that were were moist and wouldn't burn anyhow. So once it got dark it would be dark. But they could read till then. It pretty much started with a slight description of Artemis and Llyud. A rather clear and detailed description too. And even some sketches. Obviously, it was meant that some one were to find this one day. And there were even a few personal messages they had left for each other when one was going out or something and what the other should pick up, and even some messages to each other that were more as jokes and such. But mainly it was about their choice on why they had chosen to build their home so far away from everyone else and all. And even a few things about when they meet, and when Artemis had all of a sudden evolved some kind of hatred and all, and obviously, Artemis had written a bit about the dream he had with Llyud dying and all, and then about how it had been a dream and that Llyud had come to him the same night as he had woken up from the dream, soaked to the bone and asking to stay with him and such. There was pretty much all about them and their time together in the journal. But the best part was about how they begun with their home and all. After they had left the elf clan, they seriously seemed to have had only good times together. But when Ivan had gotten to about one month into when Llyud and Artemis had been making their home, it was getting far too dark for Ivan to read anymore. No one had come by yet either. And he highly doubted anyone would come there now. It was too dark. And even if they had only read about one tenth of the journal for now, they really should get some sleep. Ripping a little piece of the bandages, he used that as a book mark, giving a heavy, somewhat disappointed sigh. Not because of the journal, but because they were still stuck there, and no one had passed by. He couldn't help but to feel disappointed. "Suppose we will read more of it tomorrow. But for now, it's getting a bit dark." He gave another sigh, moving a bit closer to Iris, winching some because of his leg. He just wanted to make sure that they both stayed warm. They were underground after all. And on top of that. If Ivan didn't feel that Iris was still there, he would probably get so scared he'd have a heart attack. And it was comfortable leading against his friend, resting his head on his shoulder. "Iris, could you get my bag and give me my blanket? We should probably keep ourselves as warm as possible..." |
The elf used what Artemis and Llyud have given them, and pictured them in his head.He also wanted to know what the jokes and little notes meant, but their happy spirits and aren't on Earth anymore so he couldn't ask those questions. When Valentine stopped he broke out of his dream like state, and looked at Ivan."Oh okay."He said shaking his and blinking a few times trying to get used to the difference in lighting.
Iris stood then up and took the book from Ivan, he then ginerly placed the book in his bag.He then opened another part of the bag,and took out a light picnic blanket."This is all I have for now, but tomorrow we can look around for something. I doubt we'll be able to see much in the dark."Iris then added removed his bag,and placing the blacket over Ivan.He then moved under it."We can use our boyd heat to keep warm since this might not do the trick so well."He added with a little blush on his face. |
Ivan lifted his head a bit to let Iris get up and get a blanket for them. He gave a sigh as it seemed as if Iris had taken out the blankets too. Ivan was sure that he had packed a warm blanket. But on other hand, it wasn't planned that they would be staying the night. Iris was probably just thinking about packing lightly, since Ivan some times packed too much. But now they really could have sued some of that extra stuff. But oh well. As long as they were sitting close, they would be ok. So once Iris was sitting down by him again, Ivan made sure to snuggle himself in close next to Iris, closing his eyes. He was exhausted. All he could think of now was to sleep, and hope for some one to come by and get them out of there tomorrow. "Iris. Cant you sit behind me instead? I want to rest against you. It's warmer for us both that way..." Ivan really wasn't thinking about what he was asking for. He was so tired that he was just thinking about what would be most comfortable for them both. And sitting with his back against Iris chest did sound really cozy right now. Would be comfortable for them both that way. |
Iris nodded his head."Uh....sure."Iris then moved so that his back was facing Ivan. He knew that if anyone found them sleeping, he'll have a hard time explaining what happened.Half of him wanted to move back to his orginal positon, but the other half didn't. Iris sighed, and closed his eyes."'Night Ivan."He said placing his hands under his head as a make-shift pillow. Then the elf was asleep with in minutes.
|
Ivan smiled a bit as he leaned back against Iris. This was really cozy. Would be warm and comfortable tonight at least. Though, Ivan wasn't thinking of it the same way as Iris was. To Ivan, this was a good way to stay warm for them both. And this way, Iris would make sure Ivan didn't move around too much in his sleep. With a broken leg he should stay still as much as possible. And sitting this way, it didn't take long before Ivan was deep asleep. Hopefully, some one would pass by tomorrow and find them and help them get out of there. They would without a doubt not survive long down here. They hadn't exactly brought much to eat or drink with them, so if no one found them, they would be pretty screwed. |
Morning came, and the sun lit up the house, showing how dusty the place really was.Iris sat up,and yawned. He looked around, and sighed deeply. He looked over at Ivan, before standing up. The elf walked over to his bag,and saw that he had food, but it would only last them a few days, a week if they ration it.
He then removed a loaf of bread, and broke it into fourths. Then he placed the three piece back into the bag,and broke the fourth piece into two halves.'I hope Ivan doesn't get upset at me..'He thought sighing as he walked over to his sleeping friend and waited for him to wake up. |
Ivan woke up a little while as he felt the warmth he had felt trough the night was disappearing. He opened his eyes a bit, giving a yawn before he took a glance around, remembering where they were. He then looked at Iris, watching him for a bit, curious about what he was doing. "You're up already? What are you doing?" He was still a bit drowsy. He always was like that in the morning. But he woke up when he tried to get up to move and a sharp pain coming to his leg. That reminded him even more of what happened yesterday. But he still insisted on moving over to Iris anyhow. It was still morning, and no matter the season, mornings were always freezing cold. And the picnic blanket wasn't doing much. So, wrapping himself up in it tightly, he also sat close to his friend for warmth. He couldn't exactly move around to stay warm right now, so he would take whatever warmth he could get. "Has anyone passed by yet, or have you found a way out?" |
"Yep, I got up a few minutes ago,and I'm getting breakfast."Iris said handing Ivan his half of the piece of bread."And no one has passed yet.Maybe we'll have to un block the doorway sooner or later."He then added breaking off a piece of his bread and placing it in his mouth."Maybe the town is starting a search party, as we speak.I mean did you tell them where we we're going?I told my family at least."Iris then said finishing his mouthful of food. Then the elf pulled off another piece, and placed that in his mouth. He wanted to tel Ivan about the food shortage, but at the same time he didn't, but since Iris would have to tell him sooner or later, after Ivan finished eatting he'll tell him.
|
Ivan gave a sigh hearing all of that. He really hoped that Iris could get the door unblocked. Knowing Iris, they didn't have allot to eat along with them. It was enough to look at the size of the bread piece he had been given to know that. But Ivan still sat quiet for a few moments, munching on his piece of bread. But when Iris asked him if he had told anyone about where they were going, Ivan just gave a mix of an annoyed expression and somewhat pained expression. He was a traveling merchant. The only one he knew in town, even as he stayed there allot for longer periods of time, was Iris, so who on earth would he tell about where they were going? "You're the only one I really know in town, so who on earth would I be telling? But I'm glad you at least told your family. So hopefully people will come looking for us soon..." He said as he finished up with the bread and leaned against Iris to take a closer look at how much they might have left. "How much do we have left to eat?" |
"Oh right, sorry."Iris said chuckling nervously. The elf then looked at the bag,and sighed."Maybe a few days worth, if we ration it correctly we might get a week out of it."He then added cringing slightly."Maybe coming here wasn't the best idea...."He then stated giving Ivan, and very appologetic look. He was sorry, he didn't want to loose Ivan as a friend since he shared his love of exploring."I'm sorry about this."Iris then said groaning."I should have put more thought into this."He then added shaking his head, and sighing heavily.
|
Ivan looked up at Iris for a moment, giving him a bit of a smile as Iris was apologizing and groaning. Obviously, Iris felt really bad for this. And Ivan couldn't deny that, Iris was really stupid to jump down the hole too instead of go back to the village and get help. Ivan could have managed one night alone as long as there was help coming. But, there wasn't any way to change what was already done, so why dwell on it. But Ivan just couldn't help but to tease him a bit. "Well, you do have the habit of being a bit of an idiot sometimes. But that is probably what I like about you so much. You can always make me laugh, no matter what the situation. And I did bring along two apples for us. We can split them up and take half each. Then the apples will last for at least two days. But we can't go and save them for too long, since then they will go bad. But it's better then nothing. And that way we can get a bit of fluid too." Ivan was trying to be as positive as possible. There would hopefully be some one coming, then they would get out of there. But till then, they should be careful with their food and not eat more then they had to. Ivan gave a sigh, closing his eyes for a bit as he was leaning against Iris, kind of dreaming about them being rescued from this place and taken back to the village and being taken care of. "How long do you think it will take before they find us?" |
Iris looked at Ivan and chuckled."Thanks, I spire to be an idoit one day."He stated playfully."And I have a little more bread, and a small container of water."Iris then continued becoming more serious. He then sighed."And I didn't want to leave you down here alone, besides you leg might have gotten worse or infected or something if I didn't fix it up."The elf then said looking at Ivan's broken leg, it didn't look any better, maybe the bandages might get getting it infected.
|
Ivan chuckled a bit himself, but gave a sigh as Iris mentioned his leg. Looking at it, it would most likely get infected, yes. But there wasn't much they could do. All they had was the old dirty bandages. He really hoped they would get out of here really soon. Ivan didn't really want to go trough the entire thing with an infected leg. That would just make their situation worse then it already was. So to get his mind off of it all, he opened his eyes and looked up at Iris. "Maybe we should continue reading from that book? That should keep our minds off of our situation for a while. And maybe this time some one will hear us and come help. But, we should probably move to the other room, where the skeletons are... That's where the hole is after all..." Ivan wasn't all that much for that idea, even if it was his idea, but it was their best opinion, since that's where the only hole is, so it's more likely people will hear them if they're closer to that. But it would of course mean that Iris would have to carry Ivan to the other room, since he couldn't walk, and there wasn't much to support against. |
Iris was a bit surprised that Ivan would even think to go into the rooms with the dead people."Uh....you sure? Before you seemed a little scared to even be in the same room with them."The elf said raising an eyebrow, but despite how confused he was, Iris stood up and said."If you want to, then I'll have to pick you up,I'll be careful of your leg."He looked down at Ivan, and waited to see what'd he do.
|
Ivan nodded a bit. He was sure. Since they seemed to be resting in peace, and that Ivan and Iris hadn't disturbed them, there should be no danger in that. In worst case, he could just sit close to his friend. That was always enough to make him feel safe. "They seem to be resting in peace, even after the fuzz we made. So it's not as if anything will happen if we're in there. It is a bit creepy, but it's our best bet. If I feel uncomfortable, I'll make sure to let you know." Ivan would probably have suggested to move the bones into the other room instead, but, even if they did seem to be resting in peace, they probably shouldn't move the bones around. Something like that could disturb their rest. It was one thing to fall down on the bones, but to move them from their final resting place, that would be a disrespect of the dead, so they couldn't do that, even if they could have good use of the bed. But they should try avoid moving the bones around as much as possible, so the bones would stay where they were. But for now, Ivan just prepared himself, since he knew it would hurt to be moved, no matter how careful Iris would be. But hopefully, it would be over really fast. |
Iris smiled, and lifted Ivan up carefully."Okay, but where am I going to place you?I mean the beds taken, and it's rude to move the dead."He said walking over to his bag,and lifting it as best as he could without dropping Ivan."Should we try the table, and we can take the blanket out from under them?I mean it's not moving them, technicly."He said placing it on his shoulder.
Then he started walking towards the kicthen/bedroom area. The bones were still in the same place, and he shivered."I wonder if anyone missed them..."He said outloud to himself."But maybe it didn't matter....hm...."He added as he looked for a place to rest Ivan. |
Ivan winched some as Iris lifted him up. But thank god for the bandages and stuff around his leg. Otherwise it would probably have been way worse to be moved around. But he didn't see why Iris was insisting with carrying the bags along too. Would be better to just go and get them after moving Ivan to the other room. But oh well. When they were in the other room, Ivan took a glance around himself, to see where he could be put down. The table wasn't really that good of an idea. If he fell asleep he might end up falling off. And that would just hurt him even more, so that was not a good idea. And it was no use for them to take the blanket from the bed either. As old as it was it would fall apart at touch, so they would do better in leaving it. "Maybe we can just pick the first best corner that's as clean and dry as possible? And I don't think there is much use to try use the blanket in the bed. At this rather it will break if we touch it. We can do as we did last night instead. That was good enough to stay warm" Ivan certainly wouldn't mind sitting snuggled up by Iris again. It had been comfortable and warm. |
Iris nodded his head, and walked over to the corner. He then placed Ivan down, and handed him his bag.Iris then looked over at the blanket he wanted to use,and sighed."Sure."He said shrugging. He didn't mind it either, and both were warm so that's all that really matters. The elf then sat infront of Ivan, and took the bag back.He pulled out the book, and said."Here, and if you get tired I can start reading ig you want to."
|
Ivan gave a sigh of relief as he was put down and Iris sat down with him and handed him the book. He gave Iris a bright smile as he leaned against him and opened the book where he had put the piece of bandage so that he would see where he left of last night. Even if Iris might have doomed them both for jumping down the darn hole, Ivan was really seeming positive about it all. He got to be with his best friend. That was good enough for him. "Iris, no matter what happen to us, I'm just glad that you're here with me." He said before he started to read from the book. There was allot about the process of the home being built. It had taken them a few years after all, and there was allot about how Llyud and Artemis had been goofing off once in a while and just played around and had fun. No wonder it had taken them so long. But Ivan just got trough about half of it before he was starting to feel a bit tired, and it was barely even noon yet. He had a slight fever rising. So he handed the journal to Iris instead. "You think you could read for a while. I'm not feeling that well..." |
