Opal smiled and checked that the coat was securely fastened.
"Alright! Let's go!" |
Hazel knew it wouldn't matter what her past was. She needed another Dark on this expedition, so she was going to try everything in her power to get her over.
((Munches on cookie. You sure you other Lights don't want this?)) |
Ivan smiled at Opal and continued to walk. He hoped that she would pick which ever side she licked better, which he hoped wat light since they treated people better then the darks.
|
Hazel walked for awhile, then stopped. "Wait a second...." she looked down at the diary. "Hmmm." she looked at the field ahead.
|
Opal looked at the leather bound book with mild interest.
"What is that? A map?" |
Ivan looked at Hazel "what is the matter" he asked since she was the one leading them and hoped she still knew where she was going
|
"It's a book. One of very special importance and for your information, no I am not lost. Its the field up ahead." she put away the diary. "It has some very powerful Light beings in it, I'm not sure if it's safe for me to cross."
|
Ivan smerked as a plan formed in his head "I have a way for you to safely cross but you have to trust me:
|
Hazel sighed. She hated situations when you have to trust someone. Didn't anyone know that's how your loved one's are killed?! "Let me hear it first."
|
Opal looked from one to the other.
"Light beings?" Opal had a strange mental image of people made entirely out of light. She shook her head, dispelling the disturbing image. "Oh, like angels?" |
She nodded. "Yes. some times, they use magic to keep the other off of their territory. If I were to take one misplaced step into that field, I could turn into soot or maybe be transported to the other side of the globe. Whatever it is, I don't want to find out."
|
Opal scrunched her face, thinking of what they could do.
"We should be safe, but what if you flew over the field? would that work?" |
"Hmm, probably not. it usually extends a few miles into the air." she sighed. "I can go around, no biggy."
|
"or you could just pretend that you are my prisoner and I am taking you somewhere" Ivan said as he looked at her
|
"Hmm. Risky. Not very probablye either. But ok." she finally decided. She had also decided to try not to make a better influence, sometimes you feel bad when you betray them. Not that it would happen to her, she just knew that's what happened to someone she knew, and he had died.
|
Opal grinned and patted Ivan on the shoulder.
"That actually sounds like it could work. You're smarter than you let on." |
Amiretta was having a sudden flashback. She was remembering when she was a very young child, her mother (or a person who looked like her) was holding her and telling her about a spring that was very far away that held the elixir that would cure the sleeping gods so the could restore order... that it was in the hidden lands, guarded my a terrible force...
"What? Huh?" She stood straight up and wondered what she'd missed. |
Opal caught the movement out of the corner of her eye and looked over at Amiretta.
"Oh, hi! I don't think I've met you yet." |
Hazel turned back at Amiretta. "What are you doing? sleepwalking? Ivan just offered to pretend to take me prisoner. But you need to promise me something" she said, turning to Ivan.
|
Ivan looked at Hazel "and what might that be?" he asked with a puzzled look on his face
|
"You have to promise to never speak of it again when we're on the other side of the field." she said. Hey, she still had a reputation to uphold, even if she was among Lights.
|
Ivan smiled "okay I promise." he said then in a flash Hazels hands where tied up behind her back "okay now we are ready to go"
|
"This goes against everything I live for and beyond." she muttered. She really didn't feel like doing this, but she had to.
((I can't turn human, I'm just always in Manticore form)) |
Opal laughed and ran on ahead. When she hit the edge of the field she almost rebounded off of something. A strange sort of resistance. Opal held up her hand and felt the air, it seemed to be thicker around the edge of the meadow, not so thick that you couldn't pass through, but thick enough to be uncomfortable. Opal turned back to Ivan.
"I thought Lights and humans could pass easily through here..." |
Something in Hazel''s mind went Click! "Of course!" she exclaimed. "You must be a Demon as well! Ivan, tie her up please." she said. "Welcome! Phew, for a day I thought I was going to be alone here!"
