BD, I like how the horns added some red, but they seem a little more red than the other reds in your outfit. It looks like you had the right idea for them, though, and if the reds matched, they would have been just perfect. I'm not a perfectionist though, hehe, and to me they are just fine, but I know how a lot of people think on this site and this is just what I hear them saying, lol. Ok you can kick me whenever you like! :P |

Hey guys! What's up? :) Oh and Fiz, I just wanted to tell you that the create your own set thing? Its where you can use the MAC and you know, pick a set and not really buy 5 of each in different colours. Meaning probably like one thing for every layer and all. I still managed to work it out though and I found out that here at Mene, we have a whole load of layers :P Probably around 40 layers XD |

Ok, I kind of wondered how the create your own set thing works. Thanks for explaining that, hehe. There are plenty of commons I'm after, so I'm sure I won't have a problem coming up with a set and all, hehe. So does everything you pick have to be able to layer with each other? Like I mean, does it all have to make up one single outfit? Or like, can I pick a dress I like, and pick a pair of pants, which is on a separate layer, but may not show through the dress or maybe it does show through the dress but looks awfully wierd with it? Can I pick more than one pair of shoes, or belts, or whatever, like in a mix and match sort of outfit?

Fiz, it must be a complete outfit like something you MAC out ^^'' I tried my new list of commons and they were able to layer over one another. I mean its an ugly set but its still a set right? I kind of want different types of commons and not all that match so the avatar turned out ugly as a set but it still works and is within the rules :) My old list did not work because I had multiple of the same items so it seems we cannot have more than one belt, shoes etc.

Hehe, do you realize Basic Healing Leg Warmers is on there twice? That's so odd, like, I mean, how do they stack up on their twice? Ok, so that makes sense then...I understand now how it works now. Thanks hun! I'll have to see what I can come up with then, so that if/when I do win, whether it be this raffle or another, I have my list all made up ahead of time. I don't know whether to go for the more expensive items like the gowns and wings, or more smaller items first. I'm thinking I might just go for the more expensive items, because with the smaller items, I can purchase them here and there and they are easier to save up for. So like a gown and a pair of wings will pretty much eat up the amount I would be entitled to anyways, with maybe a few smaller items included in that.

And I don't really fancy the gowns or wings actually ^^'' I think I have just realized my avatar is a casual dresser! :P

Oh I fell in love with the gowns when they came out for the first time in the event store, but had no gold with which to buy them. Even by the end of that particular event, I had barely earned enough gold to purchase one gown at half off, and decided I was better off purchasing a number of smaller items from the event store as opposed to buying one gown and nothing else.
When I came back from my hiatus, and saw the wings, I immediately fell in love with those too, and the new gowns that had come out. I love to dress my avi in different ways, formal, casual, etc, so I want to have a huge variety of items with which to dress her, including the gowns and wings, hehe. ;) |
I am a big fan of the gowns I own the golden moon one.. but I hope to have them all one day. :)

Somehow I can never get creative with fancy dressing. It always end up looking violent or like I dressed myself up in the dark. Its similar to real life XD I mentioned it in the other thread about hating to go to prom XD whenever I wear a nice fancy dress, I can look years older than I usually am because I tend to under accessorize and wear more clothes than I need to layer my sexy dress with something older looking :P I have a problem with fancy dressing...
And I like the mini stuff in the shops. Love the mini shorts and skirts like how I like those in real life. And also the Victorian lolita kind of stuff they have in their. I love the winter's flight wings but the other wings look hard for me to work with :P And the gowns seem like something hard to layer so I prefer more to layer than just onw thing covering the whole body ^^ |
That is true, when you put on the gowns, you don't put much else on the avi, but I just think they look absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes I like to dress my avi simply though, and that's what the gowns will be for, or if you are looking to make an overly cluttered avi for something or another, the gowns should come in handy for that too, hehe, though honestly, I don't see doing that too often.
I don't like cluttered avi's, though it can be fun to see just how much stuff you can actually get on the avi, and have the avi still look somewhat decent, just for the fun of it, hehe. I knew this woman on Gaia who's sole purpose with her avi, was to create as cluttered an avi as she could, yet keep the avi looking decent, and she was very good at it, hehe. |
Yes the gowns are harder to layer but if you find something that works it usually really works..lol

Haha, I always have a problem with trying not to make my avatar look too cluttered because I tend to use a lot of small items. I don't really like to use backgrounds or floor items but them sometimes they keep the colours balanced out well. I know the best people at layering in this forum are always found at the avatar chat! They make the best avatars with more than 20 items on then each time!
I feel like shopping for stuff today just talking about layering possibilities :) Sadly I have to bring my gold up to about 6350G by today so I can keep this money aside to pay for next month's CIs and a common I just bought from someone's shop. I have the dragon fruit gown and I find it really pretty but I only used it when I do not have anything else to wear ^^ |

i love the leg warmers though! I have not even bought a pair yet and now I am just trying my best to maybe earn an extra 175 gold for today to get me my first pair of leg warmers! I am aiming for the yellow ones by today! :) |
That's cool that you can do that, Ivvy. I would love to open a banner shop but unfortunately, I just really don't have time to keep up a banner shop. I mean, sometimes I do, but sometimes my schedule gets so swamped, I can barely keep up with Zanny and Mene both.
I wish I could learn to animate too...I mean VVicked gave me the url to a site where I can put certain animations in banners, but I want to learn to actually animate the banners myself. I need a really good free program to use though in order to do that. I read somewhere that GIMP can be used to animate, but they had also made the comment that it's a very difficult program to use for animating in and that you need a ton of frames for a very short split second animation. Yes, I have seen some awesome avi's that are layered quite nicely with a number of items. You really need to have a good selection of items in order to do that though, and well, my wardrobe really is severely lacking in the commons department, hehe. Even so, I find I have problems with creating a really decent avi, even on the MAC, because there seems to be a lack of a huge variety of colors available to match the clothing, in the head gear, without just putting something on to balance the colors. It's like, the items are there, but they just look like you stuck them on only to have them balance the colors and I want the avi's outfit, head gear and all to actually look like it was put together to look nice, not to look like it was used just to match. The other problem I have, is I simply do not like masks or items on my avi's faces, yet sometimes the only items you can use to balance the avi out is those face items/masks. I don't know, I have always had this pet peeve...I do not like hair hanging in people's faces...I like it better when their eyes show and you can look them right into the eyes. The same goes for hiding the eyes behind sunglasses, masks, etc...I want to be able to look them right into the eyes. Although I will create my avi's with those items, in order to make my avi look nice, generally, you will not see those kind of outfits remain on my avi for very long. |
Fiz: Yup, people have a lot of commons in their inventory which is why they are able to come up with some really amazing stuff. I lack a lot of commons too. I have a nice amount but not a really impressive amount :P And I realize that whenever I MAC something out, I will change it and disregard the original. I will have similar elements but I don't really care for matching the exact one I made because I am pretty indecisive and would have already changed my mind when I decide to make a purchase :P
Haha, I am one of those who sticks things in just to make sure they match. I have a bad habit of doing that but its just how I work because I have a good colour sense according to people who see my artwork but I have terrible style I think :P And yeah, I am not really into the masks as well, I think they are pretty ad if you are able to work well with them, something amazing can work out but if you are just not fond of them, you just won't be able to make good use of them. I am not really one to cover my avatar's face. I can't stand hair in my eyes but I like that sometimes me hair puts some shape to my face by maybe covering my eyes a little though it does get annoying when they poke me... But yes, similar to you, I don't like it too long or I don't really like sunglasses XD I don't think my reason is the same as yours about wanting to look into people's eyes but I just don't think they are that nice ^^'' |
When I was a girl, my parents had these friends who would come over to visit, and the husband was always telling me I should not hide my pretty face behind my hair, because I was always letting my hair hang in front of my face. He was a really nice elderly gentleman, and was always nice to my brothers and sisters and I. What he said, I guess it just kind of stuck with me, because now that is one of my pet peeves, hehe.
Yes, I think it looks nice, as you said, if it just covers a little of your eye, but not the whole thing. Some of the masks, like the Mask of the Phoenix and Mask of Atlantis are really nice, and the avi's eyes show through them, so they are not so bad. The Moon Masks and the Phantom Masks, however, I am not a big fan of at all, though they are fine for Halloween or a masquerade type theme. Just, as I said, if I were to use them, my avi would not be in the outfit for very long. |
