LOL!!!
We have exactly the same problem in our event feedback threads. The people who bitch about one thing, turn around and bitch about not having it the next time around  |
Ohhh. I wondered where the white chocolate thing came from! :O I heard people talking about it, but never saw that description.
And I love the GCD. I lurk there more than anything else--but it's great, especially when everything else seems boring. |
@ jellysundae: Oh, really? That's actually such a relief to hear! I thought that Gaia seemed to be the only avatar site where its users bitch about everything! (And Menewsha users seem pretty content with what they/we have)
|
Well, I haven't seen too much to bitch about here... I'm pretty content actually.
I've been able to participate in events and get some cool prizes, which have helped me to trade around and get some cool outfits. |
This is the only post I'll be making... Gaia sucks cause when I went last time I got hacked and well I reported it and it's been 1 year since the report.
They only care about money now! I hope Menewsha doesn't do that. |

The only complaint I have about the GCD is their penchant for drama. More than a couple of time I just had to step away from Gaia because the GCD had become a whinefest. |

*ahem* Gaia is acting so desperate money right now because they ARE. They need about $1.5 million to keep the site running a month. Yes, that's right. More than a million for each month. Right now, because of the economy, people are buying less - and there's a lot of people who're boycotting Gaia Cash, which is making it even harder for them. Even with the sponsor money, they come up short. |
And I'll say again, it's their own fault for having such slack rules...they have a site that is extremely attractive to many thousands of young kids who like to do nothing better than spam, spam, spam the whole day long.
Large teen/tween population = massive server strain. Acres of servers = huge monthly costs Shitload of kids as users = not enough donations coming in to cover those costs... It really couldn't be simpler. Plus let's not forget them banning people falsely. I've had two of my adult, donating friends banned. One who spent a minimum of $50 a month on there. But she was banned, as so many were, for receiving botted gold in a donation, and never got a single response to her enquiries about her ban. So she quit the site completely. So on the one hand they have hoards of non-donating children pushing their costs up, and on the other they're wrongfully banning the adults who ARE donating...nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face. |
OMG! Really?! Oh God... So if they don't get $1.5 by the end of the month is bye bye Gaia?!
|
No x-iByno, lol. They just go further into debt...
|
Hmm.... I never saw that aspect, and you bring up a very good point. Hell, just looking at CB, which moves faster than a jackrabbit on speed, about 3/4 of those people will probably never donate to Gaia.
Unfortunately, at this point, there's not a lot they can do about it without a site-wide bitchfest and half of the site quitting. Something that big happening might be beneficial in the long run, but could potentially kill it.... *ponders on this new point you brought up* |
And what if they get like a 3.5 Mil Debt or something?
|
Then they'll just sell it again....

@ Doomfishy: Developer journals. Lanzer had a two page journal entry, actually, where ha gave us all of the figures used for running the site and how much Gaia earns monthly.
@ Jeannesha: I'm wondering the same thing - when did Gaia sell itself? o_o |
Oh yeah, I remember glancing at that. Reading it over again, though, I notice that he doesn't give any other figures at all other than the "roughly 1.5M" in monthly costs. He doesn't even mention Gaia's monthly revenue, and without knowing that, how is it to make a judgment about the site's financial situation? Not to mention that he avoids breaking down the expenditures by instead forwarding his readers to an article about Facebook's finances. The whole three-parter is a lesson in misdirection.
|
Gaia was sold "sold" to OmniDrink on April Fool's Day. :P It was the most hilarious joke ever. We got explody heads and Lanzer got threatened with a gun.

@ AgentKaz: Oh, I though Jean meant it had been seriously sold! That was actually my favorite event in all of Gaia >_>
@ Doomfishy: Hm, really? I'll have to read it over again myself, then. o_o |
I'm pretty certain Gaia is no longer owned by Lanzer and company, though. But I have no idea who it's "really" owned by at the moment, as I don't care to look. XD

Yay! New evolving items -_____-

If I had money (Man, I say that a lot!) I'd get me lots of EIs. I want me a Nartian Rock, and another Nano-C, and that Adamanta thingy... But mostly I want Nartian Rock, because I wanna have a mod outfit! I need more gold.
|
Skittles taking over The Daily Chance really irritated me for some reason, even though I only have it enabled on one of my accounts.
|
Skittles sucks on Daily Chances... I used to get cool stuff and now I get only 5 gold for chance.
