@ mocu - well, if you played a lot of BootyGrab you could, but I mean a lot of BootyGrab. Makes it a pain the butt really. But if you hit the tanks filled with mermaids and watermeats you can get a lot of gold from them.

If I ever want to buy items again I'm going to have to play that game again :/ I only have like 50k after buying an EI... can't remember which since it was about a month ago

@ Jeannesha - I totally agree. Those EI's and MC's that have great outfits, but split into different forms are just ridiculous. Especially the EI's, those things can cost $5-10 a pop! Not that I spend real money on Gaia, I did it once hen refused to do it again because I saw how money hungry they were getting (I spend $10 on them when the cash shop first came out, so I hadn't foreseen how horrid it was going to get with it. But back then the most expensive item was the Fatuous Bottle for $5, which I didn't buy).

Ayreiya 10-20-2009 07:32 PM

I sincerely hope that mene will not end up like gaia. It's a better site by far and has much more potential. Gaia was a good introduction to forum sites but in all honesty the people here at mene are much nicer than the people ever were on gaia.

I wish Gaia were the same... but that's asking too much from a money-hungry site like that.

I agree! I really wish at least some of Gaia's items were multi-equip...especially the ones that are 300k and up.

Jeannesha 10-20-2009 09:26 PM

I don't see them ever changing it...

I would think that to make one of them multi-equip, they ALL would have to be.

Erailea 10-21-2009 12:13 AM

@ Jeannesha - ya, that's the unfortunate part. They couldn't just do it to one item, or all items after a certain point because people would scream and hate them for not doing it to all the items. Then again people could probably scream and hate them even if they did change every time to be multi-equipable because some people spent a lot of money buys several items to have several forms of it equipped

Sephi 10-21-2009 01:07 AM

I ran screaming from Gaia a few months ago. I couldn't handle the stupidity anymore.

RetroTV 10-21-2009 04:08 AM

I like how everyone accuses gaia of being money hungry, yet refuses to read fleeps input on it.

It takes money to a run a site. So far, Mene seems to be getting enough money to support itself, but how many members do they have? Nothing compared to Gaia. Last time they put up statistics, it costs over 2million to run the site; not mentioning paying the devs or anything.

Please, get informed before you go around bashing a site and calling it money hungry. Would you call Mene money hungry when they have to put up ads, and sell cash only items?

Anyyyway, on the topic of this months MCs, personally, I loved the golden fleece. It was a nice yellow color, (Haven't seen a good yellow/gold MC in a LONG time), and it had some cute poses. Loved the scarf.

(Also, for the people saying, "Gaias MCs are sucky/crappy/ect", just becasue they're not your style, does not make them "sucky/crappy/ect".)

Erailea 10-21-2009 04:39 AM

They are money hungry. Yes, it takes a lot of money to run a website, severs and bandwidth is expensive, but with the amount of income that site gets between the cash cards and their physical merchandise store, if they are having money issues than they have serious budgeting issues.

dragonprincess_bloom 10-21-2009 09:32 PM

i am from gaia
but i happened to see and add for this on another site than gaia
i just love places like this were i can talk to people from around the world

aino10shi 10-21-2009 10:06 PM

Im '04 Gaian
and just realized how pitiful it is to
buy beggar clothes xDD

I don't think I really want to start bashing Gaia..
after all, I still have fond memories of the site
Stuff like "pink links" and "flying giftboxes" don't happen anymore
but it was fun to experience the excitement :3

It even used to have that "Love" building open in Barton Town
xD
Before you couldn't teleport through the Town
*and moving through the town was the ONLY WAY to move to shops to Forums, games, and arenas

Lady_Xanthe 10-21-2009 10:37 PM

I'm still a member. If you don't roleplay alot, or play games, you don't make much money. much like this site. But i think Gaia has forgotten how to pay attention to its members. I will stay with Gaia for now, though.

Gloverbaby 10-22-2009 01:46 AM

I have many gaia accounts too, I think I do it because it's fun to role play that way. I can make any one of my characters so different then the next and it reflects who I am and different parts of me. I really like it that way!!!!

You seriously underestimate the cost of running a business in California. :insane:

Flowery Pit 10-22-2009 05:55 AM

I only like Gaia for the items, but they keep making them so EXPENSIVE. I wannt the Halloween event to come out. It becomes a war zone in towns trying to get candies. It's actually pretty scary..

jellysundae 10-22-2009 09:29 AM

That's an interesting point that Para makes there, it would probably be worth Gaia's while to upsticks and relocate the entire company to Indiana or something. They'd save themselves a fortune in the long run...

Kokihi 10-22-2009 03:30 PM

I'm from Gaia as well. I actually really like it still. (I'm Kokihi on gaia as well, if anyone wants to talk)

I agree with Flowery Pit though, their items are cool, but so expensive! I'm far from poor on gaia, but even I can sometimes not afford new gold shop items! And they don't really regulate their market place to much...

WoW!
and to know you own the cute pixel dolls shop in Gaia!
Props to you! ;D

Vickyll3 10-22-2009 07:06 PM

I am selling everything on gaia all my rares and unwanted items, and I have 2,500,000 so far
I think I did good. But I had not sold my Gogh reed everyone keep asking what gen it is. And when I tell them that its first gen the all don't bother responding lol

edit: Maybe I'm getting lucky someone offered lol

JessehBoo 10-23-2009 12:01 AM

i've been on gaia since around 2004 or 2005.
after a month of not being on i forgot my original accounts password.
-Stary_Midnight- was its name.
my current account has the same name as my account here; JessehBoo.
i make my own layouts on gaia, its so much fun ^_^
i met my first true love on gaia. ♥

Vickyll3 10-23-2009 12:55 AM

@JessehBoo: your 1st true love? In game life or real life? Its kinda hard to believe.

Not really. Given the magnitude of the company now it's probably for the best that it stays put.

I just don't get the 'bawww Gaia is making too much money' thing. That's.....kinda the point of the business. Mene is wanting the almighty dollar too, it's just this site isn't on the same scale and spotlight that Gaia is.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to make money. :gold::gold::gold:

jellysundae 10-23-2009 10:36 AM

They could open a more northerly branch somewhere cheap though and spread the cost a bit. Plus maybe attract some prime coders and so on from elsewhere in the country who didn't want such a mammoth relocation.
Always interesting to theorise about what companies could do.

Evil 10-24-2009 02:25 AM

I'm also an 03' Gaia member... I'm not quite giving up on it yet, but Menewsha right now is reminding me of my good old days on Gaia. Aside from the peasant clothing, the flying gift boxes.. etc.

Lately Gaia's upsetting me with their obsession into the "RIG" items, and that's just that... not everyone wants to waste $100 trying to get a 1 mil item... that or spend months trying to afford said 1 mil item that quickly went to 5 mil.

I'll be here every now and then.. my Username on Gaia is Pyres.

Welp.. back to the arcade. T_T

Kokihi 10-24-2009 05:49 AM

hmm. yeah, I don't know what Gaia is thinking with all the RIG items. I bought one once...never doin that again. @[email protected]

(haha...I like the arcade)
