I've been with Gaia since pretty much the beginning of the site when it was still Go!Gaia. But honestly it's become so corporate feeling it's not funny. Not to mention their donation items have SUCKED since the evolving items came out. A lot has changed with Gaia and not for the best- at least in my opinion. I prefer Mene actually, the art is prettier avatar wise and it has that Go!Gaia feel. ^^

I have numerous accounts because of hackers. Occasionally, I switch everything of value to my mule accounts when I might be hacked. >.> which has been 3 or 4 times.
I started gaia about a year or two ago. I hate stupid skittles.

Wow...there are a lot of EI's that haven't been evolved in a while, so they decide to...evolve only the latest one.

Gaia's tobacco ban is annoying.

I was going to get a Long Drag at some point as something for my avi to HOLD, not really for it to be in mouth like it was being used. XP

I'm glad Menes SF isn't like the one on Gaia.

Because posting porn and other suggestive things, along with trolling totally makes the ban go away.:roll:

I find it is too, but in some regards I understand and give them props for doing so. Gaia is a really popular social site and many people (especially in their teenage years) are easily influenced to do things that are bad habits if it's considered "cool". That's why tobacco commercials and ads aren't really seen much anymore (at least in the US, don't know about elsewhere).

So on one hand I think it's stupid because it's just three items or so that most people don't ever use, but on the other it's getting rid of the temptation to be "cool" by smoking.

I logged on to Gaia yesterday to see how much I was worth there, and then I find out about this tobacco ban? o_O;; The intention is good, I think, but I dunno, they seem to be going about it the wrong way for me. :x

My avatar was wearing a Long Drag though. What about it then? ^^;;

Yes. That lovely little long drag is now soulbound to your account. The only way to get rid of it is to sell it to the shops. The Long Drag and the tobacco pipe (Smoker?) are now status symbols like the original BOO skin. I did find out that the overseer - and maybe daily chance, too - still gives out cigs. :lol: They are soulbound, too. They got rid of the tobacco in the shops, but the carol of 'Ol Eb evolving item still has a cigar pose. I think it is a bit hypocritical of gaia to ban smoking items, but not drinking items. Isn't teen drinking supposed to be as big a problem as teen smoking?? I also find it odd that they go around giving users these slutty items to use so often. What about the problem of teen pregnancy?? And isn't nudity supposed to be one of the things that raises the rating level of movies along with foul language?? Maybe illegal drug and alcohol use is, too, but I don't think tobacco use is one of those things. I might be mistaken, though.

You know what? I didn´t use to understand people here who would wail and whine incessantly about how Gaia Online has gone downhill very fast, but I see what they are getting at now. There are loads of promises not kept (such as the plethora of non-sponsor quests) and even the events have become dumb now. The Admin avatar used to be cute for me, but now it´s the pixel stand-in for hypocrisy the site is immersed in. I have been a member since 2006 there and this is the first time I am thinking of abandoning it.

I'm glad I got my Long Drag a long time ago. I would be sad if I didn't have one before the ban. I love that item. And I don't smoke cigarettes -- I think they're disgusting. But sometimes, an avatar needs a smoking item to make it just right...

I keep going to and participating in Gaia less and less as time goes on. I've just been disappointed as of late...

XP I remember I bought it solely out of tickets too, which made me even prouder back then when I first got it. xDD;; And right now I chucked it on my avatar for fun again. 8DD;; It was there before, took it off, but decided to put it back on again. XP

And fyi, I don't smoke cigarettes or pipes or whatever in real life. ^^;; I just love the Long Drag as an item, is all~ 8DD;;

Lanzer implied in Ask the Admin that the ban would be repealed. Buut sometimes he says other stuff in there that doesn't come to pass, and what he specifically said was this:

Yes. Lanzer made a very humble apology announcement, and the items are back in the shops again. ^u^ They must be regretting messing with those items now. The Site Feedback and Community Discussion were still in a rage on Monday. People were going to mail real cigarettes to gaia headquarters.

I hate the smell of tobacco smoke, but how are you going to have a cos-play avatar of Sherlock Holmes, Wolverine, The Penguin from Batman, or Holly G. from Breakfast at Tiffany's with out those tobacco items?
