Making it back to her home, Adeirth sighed, moving into it with her face still oh so red. She decided that to get her mind off of Link and the incident that had happened a while ago, she would clean her home. She opened the door to her home, beginning to sweep out the access and smaller pieces of the wood from her ceiling. There was quite a bit of it too, and soon enough her mind was free of stress.
Cleaning was her stress release. Humming to herself, Aderith began to pick up the larger pieces, placing them outside of her home. People seemed to be getting the general idea of Ader and Link, though. |
Link sat on the branch, his head resting on his knees, he was trying his best to hold back his tears, "she doesn't need me at all... Who the hell am I trying to convince?" he said to himself, he jumped out of the tree, landing on the ground below. He sighed and headed back to the village, he was starting to think that coming to Holodum was just a giant mistake, he needed to fix it now. He walked over to Ader's house, "Aderith... I came back to say that... I'm leaving" he let a tear fall, "I have no right to be here... nothing bad is ever going to happen I guess, so I might as well leave if there is no danger. You hated me from the start anyway, so... I'm sorry, just forget you ever met me, that shouldn't be too hard, though..."
He turned his back to her, he was waiting to hear any kind of response from her, but if he didn't get one he would just leave without looking back. |
Ader had been fine until she spotted Link wandering over to her. Her face turned red before his mouth even opened. She listened to everything he had to say though, her eyes on his face. Finally, when he was done with his extensive sort of rant, she decided to speak to him.
"Just leave then," she said simply, arms crossing and her eyes beginning to glare at him. She was upset on the inside, but on the outside it was and only could be interpreted as nothing more than raw anger. After all, look at all the trouble he had cause.. and then he was going to come here and make a big deal. "Thought you 'loved' me." She put such emphasis on the word. "Just like a man.. just leave." |
"I do love you Aderith!" It was like Link could just read her thoughts, he didn't want to leave anymore now, he was taken over by his emotions. He turned back around to face her, sensing the anger that came off her, he glared back, but he wasn't mad at her, he was mad at himself for being sucked into such a moment of weakness. "I'm not leaving now, because a real man does not leave someone he loves dearly behind like they're nothing." He folded his arms and stared back into Ader's eyes, waiting for any type of response or movement.
|
Arms still crossed, she looked at him harshly. She felt a little better now that he wasn't leaving, but still, she wasn't about to show him that weakness. She hated feeling weak in anyway.. Maybe that was the reason that she seemed to have such a distaste for Link; he made her feel weak.. insignificant maybe.. But definitely helpless, like he was needed to protect her..
No matter what he did, Ader would never feel like she was needed or loved, whether Link's feelings were real or not. Just.. never.. "Like I said." |
"I just want to know Aderith... why do you hate me so? All I want to do is help you, but, your coldness is overwhelming, I don't consider you weak or anything like that, I just want to help you out!" He held his left hand out at her and moved it over her forehead, the Triforce began to glow, "let me guess, your father left your mother when you were just born, so you consider all men are like him." He moved his hand back down to his side, the glowing light faded, he felt bad for her past, but she needed to learn something.
"Not all men are like your father Aderith, I almost became him though, but now I'm staying, whether you want me to or not. I may be dead and doomed to have my soul rest enternally whenever the gods who made the Triforce need it once more, but I've learned to accept it and my past as well as move on. Why can't you?" |
"That is what I hate!" She snapped, slapping at his hand. "Why don't you just stay out of my business?! I never asked for your help once. All you've done is cause problems for me and my village, and yet you wonder why everyone seems to have such a distaste for you here! Why can't you just treat me like I don't exist?!" She hated the attention.. "Why can't you just take the hint?! I don't want you here, I don't love you, I never will! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Everyone was staring at her now. Stranger or not, no one, even Link deserved to be talked to like that.. |
He had a plain look on his face, "perhaps I should have let that dragon eat you then... you'd be free of me and all your problems" he said monotone, so disappointed in her. He turned around and headed back to the tree upon the hill, if she didn't want attention, then she wouldn't get it, he was fed up with her. But, he still did love her, so he would not leave, he would just keep a look-out for anything strange from his tree.
Everyone in the village kept staring at her, some seemed just upset at her, but, soon, they all turned back and entered their homes, leaving her all by herself. |
Ader stood at her doorway, her arms still crossed until finally she headed into her home by herself. She locked her door, and moved over to one of her cabinets, digging through it and eventually finding a large blanket. It was thicker than the one that she kept on her bed, and standing on her table, she began to nail the blanket to her ceiling. As long as it wouldn't rain, she would be good to go.. The nails were small, good to go.
Stepping down, she smiled at the slight translucency of her new ceiling, and she repositioned everything before sighing and sitting on her bed gently. She was hungry, her stomach growling as she stared into the floor with a bit of a glare. And with a blank stare, tears formed in her eyes, soon enough sliding down her cheeks. |
He looked across the land below him, the tree was tall enough for him to not only see the village, but see out in the field as well. He noticed something coming from the hills, two more men from the same hill as the other man before were running toward Labrynna. Link jumped from the tree and landed in the middle of the village, he ran as fast as he could out to the field to help them. When he reached them, they were bleeding badly, but it was from just single stab wounds in their sides, they didn't seem like fatal wounds. "Midna, help me please, we have to save these men!" Link picked up one of them, the Midna appeared by the other's side, he was too weak to react to her.
Midna picked him up with her giant, orange hand and carried him back to the village with Link by her side. When they reached the village, Link tried to catch his breath before he'd yell, "Help us!! We have two others that are about to die here!!" Midna shouted for him. |
The man from before rushed from his home. It seemed as though he were one of the few people who actually believed that Link may be able to save some souls in his trips and trials through their village. "Bring them in here," he said, ushering Midna and Link into his home as quickly as he had been able to do before. People, just like the last time, had begun to gather in the streets again, all except for the one.. all except for Ader.
She looked about as emotionless as someone could possibly get while being alone. The man in the home gathered his wife and daughter, getting them to bring the necessary supplies again, this time providing a bit of a system. (And no talking from the injured ones... EVAR... Well, let them get part of the name out.) |
"Thank you again sir" said Link as both Midna and him followed the man back to his home, sadly, by the time they got one of the men inside, he had already died of massive blood loss. "Oh no..." she said as she felt the man die in her giant hand, she was about to cry, "don't cry Midna, it couldn't be prevented..." He put his hand on her shoulder, "for now we need to focus on the living man!" After he was cleaned up, he managed to open his eyes and take deep breaths, "sir..." he said gently to the dying man, "please tell us who did this to you."
He coughed up some blood and then tried to speak, "M.....Mi...Minu-" he coughed loudly and then, sadly, died right after. Link's hand turned into a fist and shook as he grew angry, but, his anger faded and was replaced with sadness, he stood up and sighed. "Looks like we'll need another funeral..." He took time to think about what the man tried to tell them, it was so strange how this was happening. |
The older gentleman sighed, crossing himself before he moved out of the room with his young child. None of this seemed right in his opinion, and he had tried his best.. that was all he could do. His wife set to cleaning again, just like she had done before so sweetly and loyal to her husband. "Tis a sham'," she said softly, also holding a bit of an accent to her voice. "These pou' men.. didn't do nothing I'm shua'." She sounded so uneducated, but yet she knew what she was speaking of. "Wonda' what they was runnin' from.." She seemed to be pondering aloud as she closed the eyes of one of the men with her plump fingers. "Wonda' what they was runnin' to.."
People had gathered around the home, all of them curious and most more than just a little afraid, seeing as how this was the second time two men had been hauled into their village.. The wife swung open her front door. "Ya'll get on outta here! This ain't your house! You all git!" The people scattered, and the upset Ader moved to her window, peeking from the cutrains with soft eyes. |
"I wonder that too ma'am" he said, thinking as he stood by the other man, but both he and Midna jumped as the woman yelled outside at the crowd. "I'm sorry for yet another mess in your house, don't worry, Midna and I will bury the men, then we'll come back to help you clean up." Link picked up the man while Midna was still holding the other one, they both left the house and headed off to the graveyard. After about two hours, both of the men were completely buried, Link had made two other crosses for them as well and shoved them in the dirt before their graves, he gave them a bow.
Luckily, Link wasn't dirty at all, from blood or the dirt from digging the graves, he was relieved about that, but he forgot about his cleanliness and went back to thinking about what the man said. "What do you think he meant, Link?" Midna asked him, floating by his side, "I don't know Midna, but we can only wait and see if any other men come here from the hills, who knows when that will happen though..." They both gave them a short bow and the same chant as the first dead man, then they left the graveyard soon after to help the family clean up the mess. |
The woman, in the meantime, was scrubbing her floorboards, her eyes on the floor as the worked on them harshly where blood had been spilled. In walked Ader quietly, her eyes red from the crying. "There's nothing left to see," the woman hissed. "I don't care about the men who died here," Ader insisted. "I'm going to help you clean." Aderith managed to crack a wry smile at the portly woman who smiled back now. "Well then, grab your'seff a bucket." Ader obeyed, getting onto her hands and knees, grabbing a thick brush as well, beginning to scrub. "Do you think you could give me some advice?" Ader asked after a moment. The woman paused, nodding after she had thought about whatever this girl could possibly want, "Of course child.." It was then that Ader broke into tears, explaining everything that had happened with Link, or as she explained to the wife, 'the man who'd brought in the bodies'.
It took about an hour of this, and then the woman answered her. "Darling," she began, "I think he caas' about you.. After all, he wouldn' be 'roun if he didn'." Ader nodded, guessing that maybe she could be correct. "Child," the woman began again. "I reckon that you ain't ever been in love, and you may neva be, but if you pass up a chance like this'un, you may regret it forever." The woman made a point, she supposed. "Why not give um a chance?" Ader made sure to leave, and when she did she thanked the woman for her advice, luckily making it into her home right as Link began back. When Link and Midna arrived, the wife laughed gently. "You two got here too late! S'already been cleaned. That sweet girl in that house ove' there," she pointed to Ader's house, "Helped me clean up everythin'." She grinned. "You otta talk to her," she said, eyes on Link. "She might listen." (WOO!) |
Link and Midna grew confused when the woman said everything was finally clean, but when she pointed at Aderith's house, Link managed to crack a smile, as well as Midna. "Thank you ma'am, I'll go talk to her" Midna disappeared, returning his shadow, so that Link could have his privacy with Ader. He walked over to Ader's home and knocked on the door, "Aderith? Its me, Link..." He patiently waited for a response from her.
|
Ader did not answer. She was in her bed, face hidden in her pillow, not making any sound at all. She wasn't going to get up either. In her eyes, if Link wanted in, he would come in on his own. She wasn't moving from her place, and the door was unlocked anyway..
(WORLDS SHORTEST POST.) |
((Lol, not really...))
Link didn't want to do this, but he turned the knob and opened the door, he peeked inside, he thought that she wasn't exactly home until he noticed her on her bed. He entered and then closed the door, "are you alright?" He asked her, he then walked over to her bed, sitting in the chair he slept in last night. ((lol, I entered your house like I would in the Zelda games xD)) |
(By the way, that chair isn't really there anymore... >> Just so you know, she cleaned.. xD! SO HES STANDING.)
Ader didn't move, but her back rose and fell gently with every breath she took, so obviously and at the very least she was alive. She didn't speak, though, not much feeling like talking, per say. She had a feeling that the woman who she'd helped would pull something like this.. Like tell Link something, anything, that would bring him to her home for no good reason. She wasn't made for situations like this. |
((Lol, no, hes sitting on thin air, thats how bad ass and magical he is. xD Alright, hes standing...))
Link was standing there, confused, he didn't really like the awkward silence, but her breathing at least added some sound. He sighed, "Aderith, perhaps you could tell me more about yourself, what you went through growing up, you know? I'm just so curious to learn more about you..." He sat down on the floor to rest his feet, he waited for a response from her, hoping to not get dead silence. |
Ader didn't speak, still. Her eyes openly stared into the pillow, she said nothing, and still had desired nothing to say to the man.. What was the point in this anyway? She didn't want to talk to him.. much less say anything that had to do with her childhood. So instead of speaking, she sat in the bed, eyes closing as she shook her head lightly, not even enough to be noticeable..
|
((*sigh* keep messing up I guess... ))
Link sighed to himself, he held his forehead and tried to think of anything he could say that would break her from her depressed state. He was asking a lot of questions, so he decided to forget them, and started to explain his own childhood, hoping that wouldn't make her upset or angry. "I too grew up without a father Aderith, as well as my mother, they both died when I was just a baby... I grew up in a village, much like yours, called Ordon. I became a rancher and was in charge of taking care of the animals, boy did I love that job. Little did I know what a smack to the head I would get from fate when I had to face my destiny, the lives of my friends and those I consider my own family were threatened. I had soon become the so-called 'Hero of Time' and was in charge of saving the world, you know this, as I had told you before... You have no idea what type of a journey it was, having to travel through burning and snowy mountains, swimming into underwater temples, traveling through vast, burning desert sands. It continued on until I came face to face with my ultimate enemy, Ganondorf... of course, good conquered evil, but that was when my death had come. It hurts me everyday, I feel the pain and sadness I caused my friends who think I'm dead and gone forever... too bad that I can't see their faces one last time before the Triforce is taken from me..." He had finished his story, he said what he wanted to say, he didn't care if Aderith would respond or not, he had someone to say it to that he cared about, besides Midna, who he already knew. |
Aderith still didn't want to talk, but she had at the very least listened to Link. After a few moments of silence, she peeked up barely from her pillow, sad eyes glancing at Link. It certainly wasn't a very noticeable thing, but she was looking at him. "I'm sorry.." She whispered finally, her voice barely audible to any human hear.
|
Thanks to Link's ears, his hearing was beyond that of a normal person's, so he managed to hear her apology. "Its alright Aderith..." he smiled kindly at her, happy to hear her actually say something, "thanks for listening to my story... it means a lot to me." He sat back and started to think of anything else he could say to help bring her into the conversation. Anything he came up with wouldn't interest her, it was stories about Midna, and she hated Midna, he was completely clueless and it kinda frustrated him.
He groaned and held his forehead, "I'm sorry Aderith, I have no idea what story I could tell you next..." |
Ader again, fell silent, and after another few moments, she found herself rolling onto her back, looking up at Link with her normal, sad eyes. She seemed to be working very slowly, and after staring at him for quite a few more minutes before she leaned up, looped her arms around his neck and made a small sigh. "Lay with me," she told him, pulling him down into the bed with her. She meant nothing odd by it, but the company was nicer than she would think.
