I just had crepes.

And they were delicious. I had a dessert crepe with strawberries, bananas, hot fudge, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream in it. Oh... my... god...
It was AMAZING.

Have you ever had crepes?
What are you favorite kind of crepes?
Do you even know what crepes are?

(( Yes, I know I'm spoon feeding, sorry.)

OMG crepes are so good. Yours sound heavenly....*drool*

I haven't had them much, so I don't have a particular favourite; I just plain like them. >__>;

Oxym0r0n 03-03-2009 04:55 AM

Yeah, crepes are amazing. I went to this one place in Irvine, CA called the CrepeMaker. Best crepes in the world!

LolaPearl 03-03-2009 07:53 AM

I LOVE crepes!! All kinds:

Strawberry
Blueberry
Lemon-butter
Banana-Nutella
Plain ol' butter and suger
Crepes filled with sweet cream cheese, topped with apples or cherries!

Oh, my mouth is watering so bad right now.

shades_of_grey 03-03-2009 07:57 AM

I have never had a crepe before in my life.

It sounds sickeningly sweet though.

Sakura_Madison 03-03-2009 09:04 AM

The breakfast type I had and they are good!

I had it once in this really popular breakfast restaurant in San Diego.

I want to go back there again just for the breakfeast.

Byaggha 03-03-2009 01:11 PM

I would kill for a well made series of blueberry crepes right now.

Well, maybe not kill, but definitely severely wound. =3 Om nom nom.

All I get, however, are toaster strudels. Stupid college student budget. T_T

IRK3N 03-03-2009 02:15 PM

Haha, I read that wrong the first time I saw it.
I was gonna say it sounded like a personal problem. xDD

But no, I've never had crepes. :3

Bartuc 03-03-2009 03:53 PM

I had my first Crepe while I was in Paris for 3 days. It was chocolate with bananas. It was pretty effin good.

Byaggha 03-03-2009 03:58 PM

Share?? D:
I havent had propper crepes in AGES. But my mom does very good (and similar) ones :P She's mastered it to my liking.
Had some last week.
My favourite are coated in "nuttella" with a mountain of squirty cream on the top.
and if i feel greedy, chocolate / toffee sauce over that.

Crepes are "really thin french pancakes" as i call them.

Thanks, oxy. you made me hungry :P

The Wandering Poet 03-03-2009 06:50 PM

 Fudge crapes?

I love crepes! Savory crepes are my favorite though, I think it brings out the best in them ... When I was a little kid and we'd go to the Magic Pan, my mom would always make me order apple crepes (god she had the worst ideas about what food I wanted, but it shows you how young I was at the time) but I was able to take some of her chicken or ham crepes. I still would love to have had the Coquilles St. Jacques there when it was big, but alas. They've revived the name recently but under the Lettuce Entertain You brand, so I don't even want to go. Not the same food. ; ; I probably will go though, just to see it.

Here is, though, the Magic Pan ham crepes recipe! I am so excited thinking of them, though I don't even have a crepes pan I used to use a non stick frying pan of about the right size, but don't have that either at present. D=

Magic Pan Ham Crepes

(Ham Crepes - Use basic crepe recipe)

Filling - Make a white sauce of 4T butter - 4T flour - and 2C milk
To it add grated honey ham and approx 2C Jarlsburg swiss cheese
to make a thick filling where cheese is just melted and entire
mixture is cooled somewhat. Do not overheat.

Fill crepes with filling and place crepes in a baking pan. Top with a little
parmesan cheese if desired and bake in oven at 350 for 15 min or until edges
of crepes are browned and filling is bubbly. Top with mustard sauce and devour.
Mustard Sauce - Mostly Mayonnaise with a little yellow mustard and about as
much sugar. That is exactly what the waiter told us when
we asked him. It is delicious

Note - Always use a honey ham or they will be salty
When I say grated ham - you can use a food processor. It should be ground very fine.

Mmmmmm Crepes so tasty. I had some at Disney (Epcot), but it was from one of those food stand things. I bet real french crepes are even tastier.

Lol, of course I do.

OMG all this food talk is making me hungry. XP The last crepe I had was smothered with Nutella and strawberries and had loads of whipped cream and fudge. DELISH!

jellysundae 03-03-2009 08:13 PM

Lol, crepes xD Trust the French to try and make something as simple as a pancake overly fancy. xD As I'm British, what people from the US call crepes are just pancakes to us, we don't make them thick like you guys do.

I like them really traditional with just sugar and lemon juice  Though I've been down the banana/Nutella route too. I also made some for my breakfast one Sunday with mango, Greek yoghurt and honey, those were good :)

Savoury ones are good too, stuffed with meat/veggies, topped with cheese and put under the grill til they bubble...

Captain Howdy 03-04-2009 12:25 AM

Silly jellycakes. We call pancakes "pancakes" as well. Crepes are extra thin goodness. ;D

There's a crepe shop not too far from where I live and their wares are muy tasty. ... But expensive. D:

jellysundae 03-04-2009 01:59 AM

Lol, come visit me Howdy, I'll cook you some "crepes". Though the airfare might be a wee bit more than that crepe shop's prices

Michy Lea 03-04-2009 03:40 AM

Crepes are delicious. I like them best filled with bananas and nutella with whipped cream on top. That was my post-New Year's Eve celebration meal this year.

Lela Rose 03-04-2009 05:23 AM

Haha! They are SOOO hard to make. Cause they are so thin it's hard to cook 'em without breaking them, and it's hard to get them to taste right.
