Could be. But there are a lot of things in nature that get people that "high" feeling. I wonder how anyone figured out some of the things. Like in Guam there is a nut type thing that when you eat it, it doesn't do anything to you but if you put it on the inside of your lip wrapped in a certain tree leaf and let the toxins and such absorb themselves through your gums becomes like acid and makes you halucenate.
How do people discover these things!? |
I don't, but I also don't think that Alcohol and Cigarettes should be legal, either.
I don't think anything that changes your perspective or what not should be legal, or at least not available without a prescription. |
I think it should be legal. Pot isn't a particularly harmful substance, no more than plenty of things that ARE legal. Persecuting pot smokers is a fucking waste of resources, if you ask me. Plenty of people lead productive lives while being stoners at the same time. Of course, there are also a lot of losers who smoke a lot, but TVTropes can have the same effect one one's life and it's not illegal ;]
Personally, I think all drugs should be legal and just regulated, since it's really YOUR choice if you want to ruin your body with drugs... but that's a whole other can of worms. |
I think it should be legalized for medical reasons. It makes me sleep better, it helps the pain in my eyes, back and legs . I am also not as depressed when I do it. But I haven't smoked any in almost a year and I feel awlful.

Sorry, Weed messes with your head a little too much. Pretty much makes you stupid if you know what I mean. I know that it is "better then cigs" but hey, it is only the lesser of two evils. Still bad none the less.
And true when your out drinking and you get in the car, your all like "WHEE DRIVE FAST" *slur* and when your high you will probably go into your car, sit there like "woah.. cool... alright.. how do I start the car again?.... Oh well, I am hungry" *goes back in house* less deaths that way. But hey look at it, it makes you stupid :/ |
@IcePuppet, so alcohol and smoking should be illegal too? Wow... I do NOT want to live in the contry that tries to make that happen. I think there are too many constrictions on peoples lives already, if you're not hurting anyone then go ahead. If you are going to risk someones life, let it be your own, noone else. If you want to drive across the grass because it's a shortcut and you have a Jeep... why not!? Just don't hit anyone in the process.

Amen ahil787! Stick it to em. I know that the only thing that changed about me when I had done it was that I laughed, at everything. So I'd say, don't expect to have a serious conversation but who cares really? Some people need to relax.
You ever wonder how many of the childrens icons and such were supposed to be subtly portrayed as stoners? Like Shaggy, I mean who in their right mind would eat dog treats? And the Cookie monster, who is always hungry and looking for something to eat... even eats the plate when he finishes the cookies... Just somethign to think about. I'm sure there are more, these are just the two big ones that came to my mind. |
Since we already have a debate topic about the legalization of marijuana, I've gone ahead and merged the two together.
I'm sorry if this causes any confusion. |
The Legalization of...
Marijuana.
I live in California, which is very well known for its vast amount of pot, and pot-users. Many young adults are attempting movements, riots, etc to encourage legalization. I know that many older adults agree. Some adults say that "Its been tried many times, and it wont happen this time". Im hopeful though, that when PROP AB 390 (Voting in Ca is in November, and Prop AB 390 is for the legalization of selling, and using MJ), that the proposition will pass. While I do not deal, or frequently or consistently smoke, etc use marijuana, I would still like this proposition to pass. What are your guys' opinions on the legalization? What are your opinion(s) on other drugs, such as LSD, E, etc? Do you think all drugs should be illegal? If so, why? If not, how come? All opinions, stances, etc on this issue are welcome and open to discussion. |
DahlianReesa, since we already have an established Debate thread about the legalization of marijuana, I've gone ahead and merged your thread with it. Always remember to search the forum before making a new topic.

I think that pot makes a lot of peole happy and making it legal would make more peole happy, it's the same as beer and smoking, everything has negatives but that is just the way it is, if you can't take what doing something does to you don't do it, not everyone smokes and not everyone drinks but a lot of people do and that is their choice so I think legalisation would give a lot more peole choice, and choice is good
|
honestly, a lot of people smoke pot anyways. Why can't we all just live and let live. If you don't want to smoke pot, then don't!

This is what I have to say on this subject.
I know pot isn't addictive at all. And the only way it should be allowed to be legalized if for medical reasons and medical reasons only. I have heard that it helps with kemo patients, it helps them from not being totally sick and can't keep anything down. Plus it does help people with that eye disease that starts with a g. I can't spell that well. But I know everyone knows what I mean. If you honestly have a good medical reason, then yes you should be allowed to use pot and no one else. Cause I know it does help with health problems and it has been done with many tests that it is proven to be effective as well. So legalize pot for the ones who have honest medical conditions that could use the pot to help them get better or feel better. But only for medical purposes and absoultely nothing else. I don't care if its not addictive. Only the ones who really need should be the only ones allowed to get it. |

I'm not even sure what to make of your last sentence. You yourself said pot isn't addictive, so it's not like you can go into withdrawals if you stop. And surely you don't believe that every or even most potheads do other drugs. |
Saiyouri, you're ignoring the fact that it can also be used in manufacturing to make paper, rope, clothing, and automotive parts. While it remains illegal, no one can even do research on it (at least, not very easily)
|
exactly^^ THAT could save us resources and we can stop, or at least reduce cutting down trees and destroying forests!
|
I think theres a bigger reason it should be legalized then just the money it will make for the government or economic. i believe it should be your own right to do, say, and put into there bodies whatever you want, i mean no one gets out a life alive (as one great mind said, it is not the goal in life to arive at the grave intact, rather slide into the grave sideways saying wow what a ride) i am all for enjoing life and if smoking weed lets you enjoy your life more do it
oh and one more thing I forgot the government should never beable to tell you what you can or cant do you are the one that dies in this world you should beable to do what ever you want...... like i said before no one get out alive |

Just make it legal, the amount of posers in all walks of life would stop doing it because then its not illegal anymore so therefore its not cool/fun to do anymore. Look at the kids who smoke cigarettes, most of them do it only because they think its cool or because they saw their favorite celebrity smoking one. Kids and their pathetic excuses to try and fit into a mediocre advancement of a detrimental society purely based upon what you do with your body and what you put in it. (yes pun intended there for you gutter-minded people)

1. All drugs are "gateway" drugs. Tobacco use leads to alcohol. Alcohol leads to marijuana. Marijuana leads to a variety of "harder" drugs. It doesn't matter where you start, there's always another step you can take that takes you deeper into a world a abuse.
2. Abuse of any drug can kill brain cells. Look at alcohol, that's known for killing brain cells. 3. More cigarette smokers get cancer than pot smokers, and that's because cigarettes are infused with more harmful chemicals. Yes, I believe marijuana is harmful, but it's more nature than cigarettes. 4. There's a mental level of addiction that comes with every habit. With drugs, there's also a physical aspect but that doesn't last as long as the mental addiction. The brain becomes reliant on the 'high' because that high has prevented the brain from creating its own endorphins. Of course, this side effect varies drug by drug, but as a blanket statement, I feel it still applies. Now, based on all that, I feel marijuana should be legalized. It's a gateway drug just like tobacco and alcohol. It has the same side effects as tobacco or alcohol. It's used recreationally just like alcohol is. It's reputation is even that of alcohol, where it's "not so bad" and seen as "not such a big deal". If you want to think of it as a pure capitalist or even as a lobbyist; it could make a great deal of profit if it were distributed by government approved distributors. Also, it can then be monitored like tobacco for quality assurance, and who it's sold can also be monitor. I mean that, as in the age of the buyer. |
Well, for one if it is legalized. Seeing that a bill to congress has been submitted, there would be a tax on it. That's the only bad outcome I could see from it, but hey that's just me.
|
...hmm...I would have to say that I think it should be legal. I wouldn't do Marijuana too much myself. I've thought about maybe trying it once or twice just to see what it's like...you know? I don't want to become a regular user of marijuana...I'm not really into the idea of doing drugs..so experimenting a couple of times would be enough for me. I also support it because there are drugs out there that are so much worse for you than pot. Like cigarettes and alcohol. Alcohol makes you violent, aggressive, and obnoxious beyond belief. I'd rather be with someone who was high on marijuana than someone who was drunk.
