"Well, true. I don't think that all piercings are wrong, just that the mouth should be left in its natural state," he said with a weak smile. "Just like I feel the genitals should always be left intact, never mutilated or pierced for any reason, even pleasure."
|
Mona shuddered.
"Guh, I would never do that to myself," she said, shaking her head. "I don't even want to think about that one.... I wouldn't be able to stand it, I know it." She reached for that bottle of ale and drank a bit more from it. |
"But a lot of people do it," he said with a slight shrug. "I just believe that certain parts of the body should remain unaltered. That's all."
|
"I agree with that," Mona said nodding. "I mean, I look like a piercing whore myself, but they were all gifts. I could get rid of them any time I wanted to, but they all mean something to me. I so won't."
|
He snuffed out his cigarette and put it back in his pack, then stood, bowing his head slightly. "Can I get you anything, Sir?" he asked, his expression changing to one of obedience.
|
Mona smiled and touched the Monroe piercing on the left side of her mouth where a diamond stud glittered softly. "It's one of my favorites, actually. Glad to see you, Chrys."
The male vampire grinned at his sister and them glanced back over to this other. "I want a crimson death highball, if you would," he said smoothly. "And your name, I'm craving it." that slick grin lingered. "I thought you weren't hiring, Mona," he said to his sister. "Oh but I liked him. I have good reason to keep good company with me when I'm here manning this place all by myself. |
He prepared the drink obediently, then placed a napkin down on the counter with a sprinkle of salt on top, placing the drink on the napkin. "My name is Zaitsu," he said quietly, once the drink was in front of Chrys.
|
"Thank you, Zaitsu," Chrys said, accepting the drink from him and sipping at it. "You have good craft at this. Not as good as the lovely Evangelique, though." He chuckled in his good nature.
"Don't talk about Mom as if she's some pet of yours, that's gross," Mona jibed, shaking her head and grinning with a weird look on her face. Chrys just laughed. "Ah well, she's been doing better. Especially after I started drinking blood again. I told you, right? I went on a rampage two weeks ago in the south territory. Almost had a cult come after me with crosses and holy water. Which made me laugh especially when one of them tried to shove me into a baptismal pool. That one was funny." Mona shook her head again. "I'm glad you're drinking again, though. You've been a wreck these past six months. Hell, I couldn't even go all the way for my two months of abstinance." She turned towards Zaitsu and explained while Chrys drank from his glass. "Our father died early in September. And when vampires mourn the death of the loved one, in our bloodline, at least, we stop drinking blood for a set period of time." |
"Among my people, we mourn by cutting our hair short. When we overcome our grief, we allow our hair to grow again. I am sorry to hear about your father, though."
|
Mona smiled.
"A lot safer than going insane, by all means," she said. "Yes, and thank you for your sympathies," Chrys added, setting the glass down. "You should go visit Mum, though," he said to Mona. "She's been missing you since you didn't go see her when you came home." "I thought she and Donovan were like honeymooning or something," Mona commented dryly, not at all amused by her statement. "Drop the ire, Pet. You should be happy that his presence if keeping her relatively stable if anything. Go visit her." |
"Mm." He turned to go towards the kitchen, giving Mona a fleeting glance. "I should probably clean the kitchen for you..." he said quietly, slipping away to the other room.
|
"Should you, now?" Mona asked, grinning. She turned back to her brother and smiled. "He's sweet, don't you think?"
"Absolutely delicious," Chrys agreed. "I like him a lot because his shadow is mute to me." Mona gasped. "No way!" Chrys just smiled at her. |
*A young lady enters the establishment, her chocolate and honey eyes roaming over the place. It seemed... familiar. Then again, she was always looking for a place to call home. Her lips twitch with a small smile as she heads for the bar, seating herself upon one of the stools. She appeared to be a young human, around 17, with long brown hair that faded to black around her waist, but somehow she just didn't feel human. Not to those who knew better. She looks around, examining the action and rests her chin on her palms, her elbows supporting the weight of her face on the bar*

Having scrubbed the kitchen clean, Zaitsu returned out to the bar to clean the counter, the tables, and possibly clean the floor again should it need to be cleaned. Bright red eyes looked up at the new figure sitting at the bar and he remained quiet for a moment, before walking in front of her. "May I get you anything?" he asked her quietly in a polite way. |
She turns, blinking, to the man addressing her. "Uh, what do you have?" she asks sheepishly. She grabs at a lock of her long hair and begins to roll it between her fingers. "I haven't been in a bar in a long time." She smiles softly, flashing rather sharp teeth.
|
"There are many different liquors here," he said, deciding to play at ignorance for the moment. Sharp teeth, that usually meant only one thing.
|
"Uhmmm... Vanilla Coke?" she askes plantively. Her eyes are swirling instead of staying a solid color, which makes it confusing to gaze into them. She taps a clawed finger, that wasn't clawed a moment ago, against her cheek, still smiling.
|
"I really doubt that's what you're really after, here," he replied, retrieving a coca cola and adding vanilla syrup to it the way that the beverage would've been flavored at a soda fountain decades ago.
His ears twitched ever so slightly as he placed a napkin with a pinch of salt on it onto the counter in front of the woman, placing her drink on top of it. She wasn't fooling anyone. |
"Thank you!" She smiles and takes a sip, wiggling happily. "So," She manages after another sip, "My name is Okami. May I ask yours?" She notices her claws and frowns a little, but she doesn't retract them.
|
He blinked slowly for a moment, then smiled very slightly. "My name is Zack," he told her, holding out his hand in a friendly gesture. "But you can call me Z for short."
|
Chrys was sitting at a particular table in the N&C with a small glass sphere in his hand. He tossed it back and forth playfully while she talked to his sister.
"So how has everyone taken to your tattoos?" he asked her. She shrugged and exhaled a smoky cloud. "Tefla adores them. He went nuts when he saw them. But other than he and Rinny, I haven't really seen any of the old crowd. Er...she goes by Vashtai now." Mona stared up at the ceiling. "I miss people. Even Zack, that stupidhead." |
In his room, Zaitsu tossed and turned uncomfortably, moaning and groaning and muttering in his sleep. Covered in a cold sweat, a loud cry forced its way from deep inside his heart; possibly from within his soul, and shook throughout the bar. A desperate sound of longing, crying for someone called 'Eirose'.
|
Mona snapped her head up and turned towards the source of the cry.
"What's the matter?" she asked aloud. "Nightmare," Chrys explained. "In a way. I don't know because the darkness is loathe to reveal much about this man to me." He tossed the sphere up into the air and it vanished. "Dear mother's nights have a similar flavor at times." |
About forty-five minutes later, Zaitsu ventured down to the bar wearing a close-fitting dark blue pair of jeans and a long-sleeved black button up shirt, and his pair of black steel-toed work boots. His hair was longer than the day before, making it easier for him to conceal his face.
He walked past Mona and Chrys without a word, going into the kitchen to get the bucket and scrub brush. Once the bucket was full, he rolled his sleeves up a little and started in on scrubbing the floor of the bar. |
"Dude," Mona called after him, jumping up to her feet and heading towards the kitchen while Chrys sat back and smoked for a bit. "Hey, do you get a kick out of doing work all the time? If you want you can just chill with us. My brother's good for conversation. Always has something interesting to say." She offered a small smile.
