~The Althaia Tribe~ (Literate/Fantasy)
Deep in the heart of what is now known as the Amazon Rainforest there lived an ancient tribe known as The Althaia Tribe, a clan of people who have been around for hundreds of years living peacefully in isolation from the “outside world” men women and children living their lives as necessary to survive. Only using the resources they themselves create and hunt, avoiding most if not all contact with the “outside world.” Over time the tribe grew but only large enough to thrive in their own community. Some chose to adventure away from the tribe and usually they did not come back, they became a part of the “outside world.” Many of the Althaia Tribe's people would wander the forest, watching and learning from those of the “outside world” always remaining hidden and silent. On occasion they would be seen, but with their great skills and swiftness they disappear leaving no evidence of their presence. Though as peaceful as their existence is a selected few were trained in the art of combat and battle for safety purpose, and thus the guard was created only a handful of the tribes people were trained under the keen eye of the elders in a hidden place from the view of the other people of the tribe. The Althaia Tribe's people lived in harmony and peace for decades, never being bothered by those outside their world was an existence of its own until one grave day when all the people knew changed and was destroyed. The tribe was ambushed by a new threat, a group of people who had been searching for the tribe for there are myths of the tribe that they are healers and have great items from pottery to jewelery that would bring a kings ransom to any who manage to obtain such treasures. The Althaia Tribe was slaughtered; even with the guards to protect them they were outnumbered. They were murdered in cold blood and all that was precious to the people was taken for profit, the bodies were left to rot on the earth; men, women and children all had their lives taken from them in a matter of moments. Those that were left alive were taken to be sold into slavery to be shipped across the land. The Althaia Tribe no longer exists their people forgotten and lost in time. The attack was never documented and was never to be known to man kind as time went on, no one was left to tell the story for those in slavery would never speak a word of it for fear of death. |

Kalissto leaned against a tree and watched Misty wade in a nearby stream and she laughed. Her voice was like an angels song as it was carried on the wind. The sunlight glinted off the gently rolling stream and reflected light in all directions creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. "Misty you are a playful creature for your age." She spoke in an unknown language that was only understood by her own people and the creatures that lived within this forest with her. Time passed slowly here, days blended with the nights at times, sometimes moments seemed to last days but Kalissto did not mind, she rather enjoyed the harmony of all things in this her home. She often thought of her family and those she lost all those years ago but she knew there was nothing she could do and she hoped that those who were taken were being cared for, though deep inside she knew the truth...she knew they were either dead or miserable.
A single crystal tear trickled down the side of her creamy cheek and landed on the collar of her light hide halter top. A warm wind blew for a moment, her knee length hide skirt moved in the breeze. She had adorned her clothing in tassels and hand crafted beads, her feet were bare. She made her own clothing, never needing supplies from "the outsiders" she still spent many hours watching them and learning from them but she was never seen, and never heard. |
Hine was mad. It wasn't too unusual for her to be mad even, but she was particularly mad. She'd left to go find herself some food that morning and had returned to find the strange shelter she'd constructed and lived in had been ransacked and partially destroyed. Surveying the scene before her, she tightened her grip on the knife in her hand, almost hoping the culprit would emerge from her home. It was quite calming to imagine practicing her brutality on the culprit. But no matter how much Hine stared at the scene before her, the culprit didn't show and she had a disaster to take care of. Without saying anything or sighing even she started to pack up the remaining items, if someone had gone through her stuff then they knew she was here. While anyone who made her mad and crossed paths with her typically didn't live long, she did like to have what she considered to be her home hidden. At this point it wasn't and it was therefore time to move.

Misty whimpered for a moment bringing Kalissto back to reality. "What is wrong my friend?" She stood knelt down at the wolfs side and looked into her eyes, reading her thoughts. "Danger, there is another of your people in the midst of this forest, but she is not like you she is dangerous and she is angry." Kalissto shook her head "No my people are dead, or trapped and with a broken spirit. But I trust your senses my friend. I feel that I am in no danger, especially with you at my side please lead the way and show me to....her." Misty barked and shook her head but she did as she was asked and lead the way down stream towards a camp that was only minutes from where they themselves were resting. A scent floated on the breeze, blood shed and darkness. She cringed at that which filled her nostrils nearly making her gag. "I....I think I am actually afraid" she whispered. Misty nudged her to let her no that no danger would come to her.
She walked for a while and saw a smoldered fire and a ransacked campsite, she felt the danger and the anger even more here but she ignored it and tucked her honey blond hair behind her ear. Her feet were soft against the leafy moss covered forest floor, she stepped on a stick and a soft crack rang out. Misty perked her ears up and stood on guard waiting to see what would happen. |
It was simply constructed and not well hidden, she should have thought more about that before putting it in such a convenient place. Hine was taking the few items that remained and was stuffing them into an opened bag, a sorry looking thing that she only hoped didn't have a hole in it. To pack up quicker she had put her knife to her side and used both hands to fill the bag. Due to the looters many of the things were gone. Hine noted that all that remained of her silverware was a lone bent spoon, as she threw it into the bag she reminded herself she'd have to steal a new set. To say the black haired girl was out of touch with her surroundings was no exaggeration, she was too focused on her task to notice anything around her. But even when Hine was at her most attentive she would have been unable to notice the approaching person. It only became evident to the girl that someone was there when the soft snap of a stick broke the forest ambiance. The idea to write it off was tempting, extremely tempting, but she half hoped it was some idiot (or idiots) who stumbled too close. Her eyes narrowed and she stopped packing the bag, instead opting to grab the nearby knife and clench it in her hand. Hine carefully looked out from the shelter towards the source of the noise.

Kalissto kept her guard as a gentle growl escaped Misty's lips, "hush my friend" she spoke softly. She took a deep breath and moved closer to where she could sense another presence. "Hello, I am Kalissto Isidora a kindred forest dweller as you are." She moved closer to the camp and put her hand to her mouth "It seems that you have come across some troubles, can we be of assistance?" She spoke of course only in her native language, she knew the English words but she chose not to speak them, it was not who she was she was an Althaian and she was proud of her heritage. She wondered how one of her people could wander down such a hateful and cruel path for the Althaian's were a peaceful and passive tribe and only a select few were trained in combat as a last resort, she wondered if this woman truly was one of her people or if Misty was mistaken. "This is Misty, she is my friend and companion, she is a Spirit Wolf, I am sure you have heard of them, they are rare creatures that only appear when they are needed and they bond for eternity to the one they appear to. We mean you no harm and only want to help" she stood at a safe distance, of course if the woman was one of her people she would surely be able to move in a blink of an eye and kill Kalissto where she stood, Misty could not be killed but she would die should Kalissto die. She looked at Misty who was now standing in front of her with teeth bared as a precaution. "Friend, do not make this woman think we are a threat, drop your guard just a little you are swift I trust you to keep me safe." She whispered in a low voice that only Misty would be able to hear.

Ariane slowly woke up in her small cell. She had no idea what time it was, but obviously business had already started. She could hear the moans and shouts from the rooms all around her.
A sudden shiver traveled down her spine. Ariane hugged her knees to her chest, large eyes fearful. It was honestly by the grace of God that her owners were moral enough to not sell an eight year old for sex. Some of the other girls had been in the business for a long time and weren't so lucky. Their stories could make your blood run cold. Although, Ariane wasn't really 8, but she had been playing the part for so long that sometimes it was hard to remember what her real age was. But if her owners knew she was really almost twenty...well she could kiss her innocent slavehood goodbye. She knew there were plenty of people who would pay for time with a prepubescent girl, sans clothing, and her owners wouldn't feel morally conflicted because she would be of legal age. The best of both worlds, Ariane thought bitterly. The looks of a child, the legality of an adult. But no, she would continue acting like a child as long as she could. She knew what the other girls went through, and was certainly in no hurry to begin her life as a prostitute at the brothel. |
When the other woman stepped into Hine's site she'd been ready to jump up and end it right there. But the language that she used, when was the last time she had heard it? She loosened her grip on the knife and looked from the wolf towards the blonde and back again, if this person spoke the language... "Where..." she wasn't sure what to say and her voice was weak from years of disuse and she spoke an equally disused language, she stood up slowly and dusted her hands on the bottom of her skirt, "Where did you learn that language?" she asked and looked up at her, the rage and hatred pushed to the side and the knife held loosely in the hand at her side.

Ariane jumped as the door to her room was flung open. Instantly, she sat as she had been taught, legs crossed, hands in her lap, the picture of childlike innocence. Her mind recoiled every time she did this, because she knew that some of the customers got a sick thrill off of just seeing her sit like this. She shuddered inwardly, once again grateful for her young looks.
The master and mistress of the brothel were standing at her door and an older man was behind them, with a lecherous smile on his face. "Beth," the mistress began, while Ariane raged inwardly at the name her owners had given her, "Beth, you have a new owner now. As you know, times are tough and since you aren't a source of income you have been sold." Then they left. Just like that. Ariane sat on her bed, frozen with fear at this unsavory man who came near her. Her grabbed her arm and dragged her out of her cell, her legs too numb to move. As the reached the outdoors, the sunshine cleared her mind and she began to try to formulate a plan to get out of this situation. She tried struggling, but the man just leaned down and whispered in her ear, "Already excited little one? There will be plenty of time for that later." He laughed, sending chills of revulsion down her spine. Not thinking clearly, she headbutted the man in the crotch and instantly started running for the nearby woods, ignoring his grunts of pain behind her as the man rose up and began to chase after her. Ariane crashed through the woods, not stopping to hide her trail. She only had thoughts of escape, to avoid such abuse at the hands of a mind who seemed to have no problem raping a young child. |
