Recently learned skills that you're proud of...

Okay... one of the so-called skills that I've recently learned in my life is that when I listen to songs, I focus on one instrument, and filter the rest out. I mean, I can still hear them, but I listen to only one. ^^
I only acquired it last week when I was focusing on listening to the bass guitar part of a song.

Okay...

How about you?

How recent was it?

I learned to knit. Which is soooooooooo much fun. Next week, crocheting!

A skill that I'm proud of was learning the piano. It took me about 4-5 to master a song and do all the parts. I felt so happy!!!^^ It was like, a month-3 weeks ago.

The song I learned and played is called, "Ave Maris Stella (In the movie, the song is called something else.)", which is from the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet. It's a very beautiful song!!!

Yes, I have a recently learned skill. After years of breaking down the music to listen only to the bass part, I've learned to listen to all the different parts of a song at once and filter through hem, figure out what I'm supposed to be playing, where, the style of it, and how my part fits in with the rest of the band. I had to learn this for orchestra in school, I play euphonium. However, the skill carries over to my guitar playing (electric, bass, and acoustic).

I actually just master the skill last week.

@-Fails-at-Life-: Hey, we have the same skill!!! :D High-five!!! :XD

For me - alliteration. One of my short stories was workshopped in my Creative Writing class the other day and several people commented on the word choice in certain passages. I didn't even realize I was doing it while I was writing. xD

Its more of an art related skill actually since it has to do with graphics and photoshop. I recently learnt how to blend images together so it seems like they don't look patchy. Something like putting few images into one but making it look smooth? I'm pretty proud of the outcomes of my work because I've always admired people who could do such nice blends and make them look flawless. And I realized that its not an easy skill to learn since photoshopping an actual blend takes quite a long time and requires some know how and I actually have a lot of pictures that I know can blend well together so I'm looking forward to try out this new skill with other kinds of pictures instead of just people.

Oh this is the example of what I came up with after reading numerous tutorials and such:

It was actually pretty recent, something like 2 or 3 days ago so I'm still experimenting on how to make it look better. I hope this applies to this forum too since its not exactly off-topic though it does belong in the 'art section' as well >.<"

I learned to paint with gouache and do stained glass windows, which I'm really proud of because cutting glass was a bitch to learn (a lot harder than I thought it would be.)

I started baking my own bread last year, at first the bread was not so good! It was edible, but didn't rise so well and was rather solid. But I've perfected it now and can produce yummy loaves! Which I bake in a round dish so they're cute too ><

What was your short story about? I just had to write a short story for english. Unfortunately, though, it had to be a tragedy which i really didn't like!
What's your signature about? What's the site about is what I really mean....

My cooking is getting a lot better, which I'm very glad for. I'm just upset that I didn't realize that burning smell in the kitchen was the banana bread in the oven.

Next time, put it in for 40 minutes, not 45. *sad face*

The ability to 'poison' people with my words. It's the one that has been most useful so far.

I've learned to make necklaces and bracelets, it's not so hard, but it's expensive and I just have a blast making some awesome bracelets and stuff, it's like I can customize my style perfectly!

larry the snail 04-12-2009 01:03 AM

I learned to... DX I can't think of anything.
But I got a tablet! And I'm working on mad skillz to use it... so, does learning a skill count? XP

salvete 04-12-2009 01:21 AM

I taught myself to tongue-trill and roll my 'r's.

This past winter, the winter musical at my school involved a lot of tap dancing, so I acquired a modest bit of tap dancing skill, which I'm excited about.

More recently though, I've memorized several patterns for different friendship bracelet designs so I can work on them almost anywhere, which is pretty cool.

Lost_Ninja9213 04-12-2009 05:10 AM

I can......do the back leg jump roundhouse kick! With my left leg of course, because in any sport, my right leg is horrible. I can also do other jumping kicks, but I still need to work on them...I suppose, they're not really skills, since anyone can learn martial arts if they take lessons.

catz love elements 04-12-2009 08:31 AM

i learned to chibi draw, and sketch (but im still an amateur,so i stink at those)
Gratz for learning skillz i guess :P

Shivvlan 04-12-2009 11:46 AM

^_^ How to pull a computer apart, poke all it's bits and put them all back together again. Correctly.

Lol, or to put it back together in such a way that it looks like it should be working, but it's not. But that's only for people I don't like. =P

One thing I recently learned how to do was knit, well sort of. I haven't quite entirely figured it out yet. ^__^

I'm in the process of learning how to care for the many reptiles and mammals, at work. It's rewarding to know what your doing.

purple_artemis00 04-14-2009 06:06 PM

I have recently learned how to use Adobe InDesign. Which is great, since I am a journalist.

RoxasSinClaire 04-14-2009 10:07 PM

Learning a bit of Swedish and how to roll my Rs

nanxi 04-14-2009 11:45 PM

I don't know how long I've had this ability, but I just recently noticed that I can instantly tune out anything like bad music playing in stores =3

snowmousey 04-15-2009 12:19 AM

Hmm, I learnt how to make sweet potato pancakes xD
God, they smelled so good. And they tasted great, too :D Except only my dad can cook them properly ><"
