Giggling, Dimeria shook her head, "Nuh-uh! That's Truis's job!" Dimeria decided with a grin as she placed a kiss on Ariala's cheek and wrapped her arms around her neck, hugging her tight.
"Dimitrius can have all the stinky diapers then." Ariala smiled as she hugged DImeria back before picking her up and swinging her around gently. "But now its back to bed with you." She smiled as she swung Dimeria around again before picking up the forgotten teddy bear and walking towards Dimeria's room.
Giggling, Dimeria snuggled into Ariala's arms, resting her head in the crook of her neck, "I don't wanna sleep.. Ria's not tired! Read me and Teddy a story?"
"Alright, a story then." Ariala said as she entered Dimeria's room and set Dimeria and her teddy bear on the bed. "Which story?" She asked before making her way to the bookcase.
"The one with teddy bears who dress funny," Dimeria decided as she pulled the blankets on her and prepared she and Teddy for the story.
"Crazily dressed bears." Ariala smiled as she pulled out a small book and settled next to Dimeria on the bed. Ariala told a story of a young girl who wandered into a home of three bears while they were out for a walk. She told of the girl traveling through the house and exploring the house before settling into one of the bear's beds to sleep in moments before the family of bears returned home. Ariala finished the story and looked over to Dimeria, wondering if the small elf had fallen asleep.
Snuggling deeper into the blankets, holding her Teddy loosely, Dimeria fell asleep halfway through the story, Ariala's voice lulling her to sleep with the story.
Ariala smiled as she stood from the bed and tucked Dimeria into the blankets before putting the book away. Ariala let out a small yawn as she made her way back to her own bedroom, climbing into bed and curling into Dimitrius's side.
Wrapping his arm around her, Dimitrius smiled and placed a tender kiss upon her head, "Ria get back to bed alright love?"
"Yes, she fell asleep during a story." Ariala smiled as she wrapped her arms around Dimitrius and buried her face in his side. "Sorry we woke you." Ariala said softly.
Dimitrius chuckled as he tenderly caressed her back, "It's alright, love. I woke when you left the bed after I turned over and felt you missing. We should have woke Ria before we put her to bed. We'll know next time to wake her and make her eat before we put her to bed for the night," Dimitrius added with a chuckled as turned to face her, slinking down in the sheets to catch her lips in his for a few tender kisses.
"G'night, love. See you in the morning," he murmured softly between tender kisses before resting his head back into the pillows and pulling her close. |
"Goodnight." Ariala murmured against Dimitrius's side before falling into a deep sleep.
His hands tenderly caressing her hair, Dimitrius fell asleep with a smile upon his lips.
- *** "Mar.. it's too hot," Emelaide managed to whisper after the fourth time trying that morning as she snuggled closer to Marreck; beads of sweat upon her forehead, her hair damp with sweat, her tongue swollen and dry, her throat scratchy. |
Marreck stirred quickly before looking down at Emelaide. "I'll get Hathom." He said, struggling to keep the panic from his voice as he got out of the bed and into the living room. "Hathom?" He asked, his voice raising considerably before moving to the kitchen and preparing some juice for Emelaide.
Startling awake, bolting up into a sitting position, Hathom looked around dazed as he asked, "Huh? Wha-What's goin' on?" Seeing Marreck, Hathom rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he slouched and sighed, "Oh, it's you Marreck. Don't scare me like that. Why'd you wake me up? What's going on?"
"Emelaide's getting really hot. Could you cool the temperature?" Marreck asked as he stirred fresh berries into the juice before returning to the bedroom. Holding the glass to Emelaide's lips, Marreck put his arms around her. "Drink, love." He said softly.
Trying, Emelaide only managed to sputter it back up, unable to drink from the glass with her mouth so dry.
Moments later, Hathom was by her side and placing his hands upon her forehead and chest, cooling her blood and body down as quickly as he could so she didn't get any internal damange, "Em, it'll be alright. Try and drink again. You've lost too much fluid. Marreck, force it down her throat if you have to. She can't do it on her own," Hathion said softly as brushed the hair from her face, worry written across his face, afraid for not only the babies, but afraid they might have been too late in noticing her temperature as he removed his hand from her chest and placed it upon her abdomen. |
Marreck felt a shiver of fear pass through his spine as he tipped the cup again. "Its alright, Em." He soothed, wanting Emelaide to remain calm as he tipped the cup again, the juice trickling into her mouth.
"The twins are safe," Hathion whispered as he brought the other hand down towards her feet, the other moving to the crown of her head.
Emelaide did her best to swallow the juice, but for the most part she just coughed it back up and couldn't swallow it. "Try water," Hathom instructed as he wiped her mouth and chest from the juice she spit up, "If that fails, put a piece of ice on her tongue. Get both while you're out there; no sense wasting time going back. Damn it Emelaide: Don't be so stubborn and say something before you get this hot!" |
Marreck sighed as he hurried to the kitchen and emptied the juice glass, tossing it in the sink. Pulling out a clean glass, Marreck filled it with water before taking a handful of ice from the icebox. Marreck returned to the kitchen hurriedly and tilted the water glass to Emelaide's mouth. Marreck felt relief and dread wash over him at the same time, glad that the babies were safe but terrified for Emelaide's safety. "Come on, love." Marreck said gently as he held the glass at her lips.
"I've got most of the blood cooled back down. Now it's just up to you to get fluids into her. Get her into a bath with cool water, it should help," Hathom said with a sigh as he brushed the hair out of Emelaide's face, "She should be alright, the bloody idiot," he muttered with another sigh as he stood and headed out of the room back to the kitchen to make breakfast for he and Marreck, knowing Emelaide wouldn't be able to eat for a few hours.
As Hathom spoke, Emelaide did her best to swallow the water. She managed to get most of it down her throat, but some of it was still sputtered and trickled down her chin. When the water was finished, Emelaide began to cry as she used the last of her energy to bury her face into Marreck's chest. |
"Em." Marreck soothed as he cradled Emelaide against him. "Its alright, love. You're alright." He promised as he ran his fingers through her hair.
"No I'm not," Emelaide whispered as she continued to cry, "I can't drink or feed myself, I sputter all over... I've completely fallen apart.. How is this alright? How can you possibly wish to marry me?"
"Emelaide, stop." Marreck said firmly. "You're not feeling well because its early in your pregnancy. You're going to get better and things will return to normal. I need you to help me take of you, Em. Please." Marreck said gently as he pressed soft kisses against her scalp.
Nodding, Emelaide looked up at Marreck with a small smile, "If you say so, my love. But I still feel helpless and don't like you seeing me like this.."
"Will you take me to the bath? I wish to get cleaned up, and I'm still really hot," Emelaide whispered softly with a small blush. |
