Dimitrius smiled as he returned her kisses. "Now, my darling, are you ready for a relaxing day in the meadow?"
|
"Relaxing sounds perfect." Ariala laughed as she gave Dimitrius's lips another small kiss. "Are you ready to get dressed, Dimeria?" Ariala asked as she walked out of her embrace with Dimitrius and over to the table where the younger elf was.
|
Nodding, Dimeria hopped down from her chair, still talking to her Teddy with a grin.
"I think you've corrupted our sister," Dimitrius teased with a laugh as he exited the kitchen and began getting a bag together for their day in the meadow. |
Ariala snuck a small glance over her shoulder at Dimitrius before taking Dimeria's hand and leading her into the bedroom. "What will it be today?" Ariala asked as she pulled out a couple of dresses. The first was a light blue dress that was knee-length with a flared skirt. There was a emerald dress with small blue sequins around the neckline.
Gasping as the air blew out of her lungs, Ariala stumbled back against the bedroom door as if she had been punched. A sudden warmth wrapped around Ariala's left foot and wound up around her ankle to her calf, wandering up to thigh before wrapping around her waist. With doe-eyes, Ariala looked at the younger elf as the warmth which had previously been comfortable was now tightening rather harshly around her midsection. |
Dimeria's eyes grew wide as she stared at Ariala and began to cry. Running out of the bedroom, Dimeria ran to Dimitrius and buried his face in waist.
"Dimeria? Dimeria what's wrong?" Dimitrius inquired softly as he bent down and caressed her wet cheeks. "A-A-Ar-Ari.." Dimeria managed to whisper through her sobs. "Ari, what about Ari? Did something happen?" Dimitrius inquired, worry growing into his voice and features. When Dimeria nodded, Dimitrius stood and sprinted for Dimeria's bedroom. Seeing Ariala pressed back against the door, Dimitrius reached out and caressed her cheek as he searched her wide eyes, "Ariala, what happened. What's wrong?" |
"It feels like-" Ariala managed before she looked up into the terrified eyes of Dimitrius, her fear doubling over at his reaction and rendering her speechless. She didn't have the words for what it felt like-or rather she didn't have the ability to say them-and only clutched at her flat stomach which had begun to seize unnaturally.
Turning her head sharply to Dimitrius, Ariala laid a firm hand flat against his cheek. "Get my mother." She said clearly as the warmth around her small frame began to burn harshly; the heat making her brain focus more clearly on the situation at hand. |
Nodding, Dimitrius placing a long, tender kiss upon her lips in an effort to comfort before darting back to Dimeria, scooping her up, and running her to Erreminette's house. "Please, take her to your cousins or something and get to Ariala as soon as you can," Dimitrius rushed as he finished explaining the situation before placing a kiss upon Dimeria's cheek and running through Elimlee to the palace to see his in-law's.
When he arrived, Dimitrius didn't even bother knocking as he threw open the door and called out to them. |
Taylyn and Arvan jumped up from their chairs at the table where a spread of jams along with a small pile of toast sat. "Classless." Arvan scolded without mercy. "Coming here unannounced. I thought you were from a family of royals." He said though the question came out as more of a mockery.
"Hush!" Taylyn demanded as she saw the worry and intensity in Dimitrius's eyes. Rushing to his side she rested her hands on either side of his face. "What happened?" She asked as her motherly instinct crashed over her and her eyes searched his. |
"I'm sorry for barging in Arvan, but it's Ariala - she's in a lot of pain and clenching her stomach. She wouldn't tell me what happened but she wanted her mother so I took Dimeria to Erreminette's and left her to take care of her. Erreminette was supposed to go to Ariala after taking Dimeria some place safe to be looked after. Please, you have to hurry, I don't know what to do," Dimitrius whispered as he ran his hand through his hair, tears threatening his eyes as he looked own at his feet. "Lily... Ari.. What if..."
|
"No." Taylyn said sharply as Arvan rose more gracefully from his chair before rushing out the door towards Ariala's house. "Don't think that, Dimitrius. We're going to figure this out. It sounds like-" Taylyn's voice trailed off for a second. "But it shouldn't be so-" Her voice stopped again as she clenched Dimitrius's hand and tore him out of the door, racing to their previous home.
~~~ Erreminette meanwhile was cradling Dimeria in one hand as she rushed to her cousin's home. "Please will you stay here, Dimeria." She soothed in a calm voice though her shaking was anything but calm. "I promise Ari will be okay, I just need you to stay here so we can take of her." She said before giving the younger elf a small kiss on the forehead and darting out the door to Ariala's home. ~~~ "Daddy." Ariala whimpered as Arvan barged through the doorway and curled his daughter into his arms, trembling from the heat that was wrapped around her stomach. She wondered briefly if he could feel the heat wrapped around her body but if he did he said nothing as he laid her across Dimeria's bed. "Its alright, baby girl." Arvan cooed as he gently pressed against her stomach as if searching for a clue as to what was wrong but found nothing. |
Dimitrius was shaking as he followed Taylyn to their home in Elimlee. Leading her to Dimeria's bedroom, Dimitrius fell back against the closet door and sank to the floor, terror and worry consuming him and paralyzing his body into immobility. His only thoughts were of Ariala and Lily, and the worst case scenario.
|
"Arvan." Taylyn warned her husband of her presence and he moved aside though his grip still remained firm in Ariala's hands, murmuring comforts to his daughter. "Talk to me, love." Taylyn cooed to her daughter as she laid her hands over Ariala's stomach.
Erreminette glided into the room nearly seconds after Taylyn and Dimitrius did and upon one look at Ariala and Dimitrius decided that Dimitrius was in need of more help at the moment. "Its going to be alright." Erreminette said firmly as she sunk in front of Dimitrius and took his hands. "Just focus on me, okay?" She asked, not wanting him to be distracted by all the horrid thoughts she knew he was thinking. "Mom." Ariala writhed into her mother's arms. "Its hot. Why's it so hot?" She cried in pain as the heat hit an uncomfortable spot under her breast bone. "I know, honey." Taylyn said as she forced back tears, hating to see her daughter like this. "It'll be better soon." She urged as she whispered Elven chants beneath her breath. |
Dimitrius's eyes were blank, as was his stare. His mind was completely lost to thought and his body was limp. "Alright.. Focus.. Me..." Dimitrius repeated absentmindedly as he slowly looked over at his wife, a tear running down his cheek as his heart clenched in pain at seeing her like this.
|
"Me." Erreminette said firmly as she took Dimitrius's face and forced it to face her own. "She's going to be fine." She encouraged though she knew that only Ariala could reassure him properly.
Ariala let out a sigh of relief as the burn in her stomach and sides cooled down, leaving her panting and tired. "What?" She asked, unable to fully articulate her question. "It happens when a Spring Elf is pregnant." Taylyn said softly. "You're suppose to feel a regular warmth instead of morning sickness from now on. Its the baby gaining her magic. But something was different. Maybe it was a blend of the different magics?" She questioned to herself. "Dimitrius." Ariala managed as her free hand flung over the side of the bed towards her husband. "Dimitrius." She called again, causing Erreminette to step back and allow him room to his wife. |
Scrambling over to her, only hearing Ariala's voice, Dimitrius knelt beside the bed and took her hand in his while the other caressed her cheek, his face burying into her hair as he whispered, "I thought I was going to lose you and the baby..."
|
"Shh, my love." Ariala soothed as she released her father's hand and wrapped her arms protectively around Dimitrius. "Its okay, I'm okay. Lily's going to be fine. Don't be sad. I'm sorry for scaring you." She whispered hurriedly in his ear as she placed soft kisses behind his pointed ears.
Arvan was still shaking slightly at the end of the bed, his head in his hand. "I don't think I've been like that in many centuries." He murmured to himself as Taylyn moved to his side and gently rubbed his back. "Its over now." Taylyn murmured with a kiss in her husband's hair as Erreminette stood from the floor and walked over to the elder couple, allowing the younger to comfort each other. |
"You don't have to apologize," Dimitrius whispered as he pulled her close, "You have nothing to apologize for.. All that matters is that you two are alright.. I don't know what I would have done if I'd lost you.."
|
"You're never going to lose us." Ariala smiled softly into Dimitrius's shoulder as she gently stroked his hair. "At least this means no more morning sickness, right?" She tried to joke, attempting to lighten the mood a bit.
"We'll be in the kitchen, darling." Taylyn said with a smile as she took her husband's hand and put the other around Erreminette's shoulders, sensing the couple would want some time alone. As soon as the trio had walked out the door and it had shut, Ariala took Dimitrius's face and gave his lips a solid kiss. "You're shaking still." She teased lightly though she wasn't all that sturdy herself. |
Slipping into the bed beside her, Dimitrius buried his face into her chest as he held her tight and whispered softly, "I'd rather you have morning sickness than pain like this.. I'm so sorry Ariala.. If only.. If only I'd.. If I'd never walked into your life you wouldn't have to go through so much pain.. I'm so very, very sorry.."
|
"Don't." Ariala said rudely as she put a hand over his mouth. "Don't you dare wish you'd never met me." She said though her voice broke halfway through the sentence and the first signs of tears began to fall from her eyes. Pulling Dimitrius closer, Ariala buried her face in his neck as the first tears fell onto his shirt.
|
"But Ari.. If you'd never met me.. You wouldn't be in so much pain.. You wouldn't be fighting with your parents because of me.. I hate what I've done to you," Dimitrius whispered as he clung to his wife, so relieved that she was alright yet so afraid of how much longer this pain was going to go on for her.
|
"Dimitrius, please." Ariala said, her voice pleading as she tried to reason with him. "We knew from the beginning that being from different villages would cause problems. I thought we agreed that being together would be worth that..." Ariala said quietly, a small part of her afraid that Dimitrius was thinking twice about this. But he couldn't be. She was pregnant and they were married. He couldn't leave her.
"I am in love with you, Dimitrius Cardei. And I know you love me to." Ariala said firmly as she held up Dimitrius's face, making their eyes connect. "You promised to be with me forever and I, you. I know that you're scared and I was terrified to." Ariala admitted, the tear stains on her cheeks only emphasizing her point. "But there might be something worse ahead of us and I need you to stay strong with me. I need us to be strong together." |
"Of course I love you," Dimitrius whispered as he placed tender kisses upon her lips, "How could you think otherwise? I'm never going to stop loving you, Ariala, and I'm never going to leave you. Being with you is worth any pain given to me, but being with me is not worth risking your life all the time like this.. I hate myself for doing this to you," Dimitrius whispered as he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her to him gently. "I'm so sorry you and Lily have to be in this much pain.. I only pray that the months coming in the pregnancy are better than this.. I don't know how many more scares on your life my heart and mind can take this year."
|
Ariala tried to smile as she sat up on the bed to better wrap her arms around Dimitrius's neck. "Having Lily with you is worth every bit of pain and turmoil we've gone through." Ariala smiled as she put a hand over her stomach. "I love you, Dimitrius." She said softly as she leaned forward to give his lips a tender kiss. "I'll continue loving you forever. Now let's find out how we can fix this little inconvenience." She said with a brave smile as she attempted to stand from the bed, wincing a bit as her legs were still stiff from the painful burn earlier.
|
"I love you too Ariala." Dimitrius placed a long, tender kiss upon her lips before leaning her back to sit down on the bed once more. Once she was sitting again, Dimitrius took one of her legs in his hands and began massaging her thighs, "This making it feel any better?"
