"Always the romantic." Ariala said with a smile, a hint of blush in her cheeks. She cupped his chin, pulling him up to give him a slow, tender kiss before turning back to look over the fields.
"Beautiful isn't it?" She asked. |
Dimitrius's hands slid around Ariala's waist as he moved closer to her, looking out over the landscape in front of them. The color, the animals, the scene in general, was simply breath-taking. Dimitrius couldn't help but smile as he whispered, "Aye... Words cannot describe it.. I'll have to commission the Painter to make paints in these hues for me.."

"Told you so." Ariala said with a proud smile. She moved closer to Dimitrius, resting her head on his shoulder. "Its better when the sun sets."

Smiling, Dimitrius rested his cheek upon her head, "Then it looks like we'll just have to sit here until we see it, now won't we."

"That sounds like a good plan." Ariala said, putting one hand around Dimitrius's waist. "Tell me a story?" Ariala said, her tone making it more a question.

Dimitrius smiled as he placed a kiss upon her head, "What would you like to hear?"

"Maybe something romantic." Ariala suggested. "Suprise me."

Dimitrius smiled, "How about a story told in the Human world? Have you heard the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?"

"No. Tell me." Ariala said. "It sounds good."
|
Dimitrius gently played with Ariala's hair as he told her of a Princess, lowered to servantry by her wicked step-mother, met a handsome Prince while singing into a wishing well and playing with the animals during her work. However, the step-mother would not stand for Snow White, the Princess, to be happy, so she hired a man to murder her while she was picking wildflowers near the woods. The man could not kill someone as kind and beautiful as the beloved Snow White, so he sent her into the forest to hide from the Queen. Snow White ran through the woods and came across a small cottage where seven little men lived - Grumpy, Doc, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Bashful, and Happy. Each were named according to their greatest attributes or characteristics. For example, one was called Sneezy simply because he sneezed more often than not.
And so the Princess lived in harmony with the Dwarfs until the Queen heard of Snow White still being the fairest maiden in the land through her magic mirror, which proved that the Hunter had lied to her and did not in fact bring her Snow White's heart like she had believed. She then took it upon herself to dress as an old hag and feed Snow White a poisoned apple. When the plan succeeded, the Dwarfs found out and killed the Queen before laying Snow White to rest in a glass coffin. The Prince happened to ride by the funeral and recognized the girl, so before the coffin was shut, he placed a kiss upon her lips, and awoke her from her dark slumber. The Prince then road off into the sunset with his beloved Princess and lived happily ever after. |
Ariala smiled as she listened to Dimitrius's voice. "I love happy endings." She said after the story was over.
"And look." Ariala said. The sun had begun to set, casting a red glow over the fields that could be seen for miles. The glow made a tan against Dimitrius's skin, Ariala smiled as she moved her arm against his and saw that they're skin colors were the same. "Perfect match." She said with a smile. |
Dimitrius chuckled as he placed a tender kiss upon her lips, "I could have told you that even without the sunset."

Ariala smiled up at Dimitrius, admiring his smooth features and crystal blue eyes. "Have I told you that I love you today?" She asked with a smile, giving him a small kiss and resting her forehead against his.

Nuzzling his nose against hers, Dimitrius smiled, "Aye, you might have, but I'll never get tired of hearing it."

"I love you." Ariala said with a grin, craning her neck to give him another kiss. "When do you have to leave?" She asked, moving her free hand to wrap around the front of his waist and resting her head on his chest.

Interlocking his fingers through hers, he brought her hand to his lips and kissed it gently before responding softly, "Depends on when you wish me to leave. Marreck is with Emelaide and I highly doubt the boy will leave her side until she awakes unless it is absolutely necessary, so I needn't check in on her until tomorrow afternoon when she can speak again."

"He must be worried sick." Ariala said, looking up towards the sky where stars were appearing. A silver streak of light shot across the sky, making Ariala smile. "Shooting star, make a wish."

Smiling down at Ariala, Dimitrius murmured softly and he tenderly kissed her neck, "My only wish, is to call you mine forever."

"You can't wish for something you already have." Ariala said with a smile, arching her neck slightly in response to Dimitrius's lips.

Nipping gently at the muscle that popped out in response to her movement, Dimitrius nuzzled his nose softly against her jaw as his kisses moved up her neck. Smiling against her neck, Dimitrius inquired softly between kisses, "Does this mean what I hope it means?"

"That depends." Ariala said, trying to keep the quiver out of her voice as Dimitrius's lips moved on her neck. "What do you think it means?" She asked, moving her one of her hands to twist in Dimitrius's hair.

Dimitrius leaned back and tilted her face back towards his as he replied, "That you will marry me? When you're ready to make that commitment to me? That I have some slight hope of keeping you even if we do come from two entirely different Kingdoms?"

"Of course." Ariala said, gazing into his eyes. "Its going to be difficult. In fact I don't know anyone who's ever actually married outside the kingdom but we'll make it work." She said, her voice seemingly faster then normal. "I mean we'll have to right? I certainly don't want to be with anyone else. But now I'm rambling and ruining a perfectly good moment." Ariala said, quickly setting her lips in a straight line.

Dimitrius smiled as he kissed her lips tenderly, "Nonsense. You aren't ruining anything, love. On my side, however, I have heard of someone marrying outside of Winterglade. It was to an Autumn Elf, so the climates were close and their magic was similar. However, they had to ask the Royals of both Kingdoms before they could wed, and it took them longer to consider their marriage. In Winterglade, it was a matter of days, for the Royals do not find it their business whom we marry, just that we marry and produce offspring to help with the Winter. The Autumn Kingdom, however, was very strict upon with whom their kind married. Usually they ruled in the favor of their subjects, but in this case they were considering going against them and ruling that they couldn't marry. If we truly have anything to worry about, my love, it is your Royals' decision upon our marriage."
Gently caressing her cheek, Dimitrius placed a kiss upon her forehead, "That said, will you still marry me Ariala Gallagher?" |
"Of course." She said, her cheeks red from excitement at his proposal. She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him close while maintaining an amazing sense of balance on the thin branch. Ariala moved away from the embrace slightly, enough to give him a slow, gentle kiss on the lips.
