To The Smokers!

Just a little, and quite random, question, but how much do YOU smoke a day? :o

Personally, I smoke 1 pack a day, sometimes more, sometimes less, depends on my mood and whether or not I'm doing something in a smoke-area or a non-smoke area.
If I'm working on something on a non-smoke area I don't smoke a lot, but if I'm in a smoke-area, I smoke like, everh 15-30 minutes when working on something o.O;;;
... That's why I always put my laptop in my bedroom where I don't smoke v.v;;

Nissa 05-05-2009 02:16 PM

Back in the day (I've been smoke free for a few years now) I was consistently at a pack a day. Unless I was drinking of course, then I could go through about a pack and a half.

Doomfishy 05-05-2009 06:56 PM

I used to smoke about a pack each day. I quit for three months, but ended up starting again when I had some relationship problems that caused a lot of personal stress. I'm trying to keep myself down to 1-5 cigarettes per day, now. Some days I don't smoke at all.

arlotea 05-05-2009 08:17 PM

Usually a pack a day. Can be more if I'm drinking with friends, or out with other people who smoke.

Neurotic Cupcake 05-05-2009 09:11 PM

I am at about a half a pack a day, I used to smoke about a pack to a pack and a half but ended up getting down to 4 a day and it eventually went back up I guess due to some events in my life that were uncontrollable. If I drink... then I go right back up to a whole pack but I try to stick to a half pack a day... and eventually, hopefully even less than that.

Pride-kun 05-06-2009 12:51 AM

Personally I don't smoke but I have 2 friends who do.
One smokes about a pack a week
and the other is up to a pack a day

ElendarSilvermoon 05-06-2009 03:08 AM

It takes me a week or two at the least to go through five cigarillos. I don't really smoke unless I'm craving the flavor and I honestly don't see how it's so addictive. My brain is wired a bit oddly though so it doesn't surprise me...I also don't see why people think cigarettes taste good, things are the nastiest tasting crap I've ever come across, save for Bacardi Rum, but that's for a different thread.

Fabby 05-06-2009 07:07 AM

I used to smoke about 10-15 a day.
But that quickly got irritating and expensive, as I'm a minor. xD

So I quit.

KH4Life 05-06-2009 05:40 PM

Smoking is gross . you ppl should stop this sillyness and grow up i am sorry if i am breaking a rule by telling tou that but smoking is wrong and it is super bad for you.

Anna_Crackers 05-06-2009 06:51 PM

KH4Life- I think they already know that.
If you're a smoker these days, you are most likely harassed because it's bad for you. Do we do the same thing to obese people? No. Being fat isn't good for you, yet we don't harass them about how disgusting it is. Let them be. They know what they're doing to their bodies.

Sins 05-06-2009 06:54 PM

I personally don't really care that it is bad for me. THere are so many bad things out there. Why worry about it? You're gonna die eventually anyways I suppose. Might as well enjoy you life.
But I smoke.. It resallly depends. Sometimes I smoke three cigs a day and I get by and somedays I smoke almost a pack. But I rarely smoke more than a pack a day. Very rarely.

Lady Kezia 05-06-2009 09:28 PM

Ohhh, you're talking about cigarettes. I don't smoke those anymore. I did for like one summer... God, I was such a lame ass.(not saying that people who smoke are, but i was one.... xD )

Shady Mane 05-07-2009 12:28 AM

*sneaks in*

Smoking is terrible for your health.

I have never smoked, and never plan on doing so.

The smell of cigarettes make me choke.

'Nuff said!

*dissapears*

Tsubasa Rose 05-07-2009 01:11 AM

I have only smoked like 2 packs in my life (or more specifically in the last 7 months): I haven't gotten addicted but I have a pack that sits in my random kitchen drawer and occasionally the smell and taste are nice... Although I did actually smoke one today with a co-worker: it was minty *yum*

I think one reason I never got completely addicted is because I don't have time in teh day to smoke: for all you who smoke a pack a day- good googly-moogalies I barely have time for 2-3 and that's back to back lol give me some of your free time lol

ElendarSilvermoon 05-07-2009 02:49 AM

@KH4Life: I'd venture to say you're the one that needs to grow up. There were many other more respectful ways you could have worded your comment other than telling people to "grow up". You could have said "I think smoking is bad for your health and that you should quit. Here are reasons why (insert reasons here)" instead of namecalling.

I'm not against smoking one or two (single cigar/cigarettes) at a time every so often, but even half a pack a day is pushing it. I'd be lucky to get through half a pack in a week, especially since I don't smoke at home. I also have alot of self control, which helps in the long run.

Suzhi Mix 05-07-2009 04:49 AM

hmmm... i only really smoke when I'm at parties, or with friends who smokes.. so i wouldn't really put myself in the smokers category i guess.. ^^ but i smoke about 1 pack every 2-3 weeks. so maybe i am 0_o

Doomfishy 05-07-2009 05:41 AM

The people who feel obligated to actually say "Smoking is bad for you" remind me a lot of those Christian youth groups that roam around shopping malls and ask random strangers if they've heard of Jesus.

I mean, how do you answer a question like that? Have you heard of Jesus? No, actually, I was raised by wolves and just now entered this Christian-majority society.

Of course I've heard of Jesus. That doesn't automatically mean I'm going to accept your take on him, announce my second virginity, and plan a mission trip to Veracruz.

Smokers know about lung cancer. We have the cliff notes printed on the side of every pack. We had our reasons for starting, and we have our reasons for continuing, but I don't see anyone showing interest in those little topics of discussion. More important is pointing out the obvious and possibly following it with an insult.

Arzukael 05-07-2009 01:15 PM

Well said, Doom.

I, personally, don't smoke so my say in things really doesn't count, I suppose.

But I know the facts and that nicotine is addicting, which is why I don't believe in flaming people for a personal choice in life style.

Maybe it's because I'm indifferent to a lot of things.

Like religion.

xD

So yeah, your Christian youth group example made me laugh.

Otra 05-07-2009 03:23 PM

@ KH4life - how is it wrong? I mean, it's well known how bad for your health they are, which was correct, but saying "it's wrong" means nothing. It's legal. It isn't something that is all that bad in any way, except for the health concerns.

I used to smoke. I smoked a little here and there, and then after some relationship problems, went "screw it!" and at my peak, was smoking half a pack a day. However, I did not like how much money that sucked up (in Canada, a pack of smokes is almost $12 dollars), and figured it'd be easier to quit before I got even more addicted, or formed daily habits around it (like that after-eating cig, or whatnot).

Now, I'm smoke-free and fine, and my fiancee likes me that way as well, so it works out all in all.

WTFranki 05-07-2009 09:19 PM

I don't smooke regularly, I smoke about one cigarette every two to five months.

But my mom is a regular smoker.

A few years ago she used to smoke a half a pack a day, but now shes down to about 7 cigarettes.

Cuz it's too expensive now ;D

Thoth Star 05-08-2009 02:26 AM

I smoke a couple bowls every day... So much less than the average smoker. 8)

nezhara 05-08-2009 04:04 AM

I started at 1 - 2 a day... but as things became more stressful, it was upped to 1/2 a pack. Then I had a weekend getaway to a big social event, where i said "fuck it" and I ended up doing about a pack a day for 3 days...

Afterwards, i took a step back and went "holy cow, did I really smoke that much!?"

I'm back down to 1 - 2 a day.

Facade 05-08-2009 04:28 AM

Lol wow, Thoth. xD<3

Chexala 05-08-2009 07:23 AM

Wow, judging by the responses so far, it sounds like a pack a day is the average for regular smokers. Is that a general average? Personally, I find that kind of mind blowing, but that's because I'm not a smoker.

In my brief forays into the world of smoking, I found that what attracted me most was the social interactions attached, rather than the cigs themselves. Generally speaking, I think they taste rather gross, and I don't like they way they make by body feel. <shurg> Even so, after smoking a couple in one night, I could feel the cravings beginning, and I quickly backed off.

Final◇Tactic 05-08-2009 09:44 AM

I don't personally smoke (Never have.. never even tried it, just never jumped out to me and the cost keeps it that way xD)

But my entire family does, my mother goes through like a carton a week (from memory)
