Olea's Art [New Piece 08/04]

Hi, hi.
I decided to post some art, here. I do traditional art (drawing/pencil sketching) and some digital art of both original characters and ones from fandoms. I'll post my two most recent as of now. I'd love nice critiques, they help me grow.

Your work is pretty good. Not bad I'd say, but you still have some things to work on. From what I saw, the heads are a lil too big and the hands are a tad too small. I tend to make small hands too. Anyways, just keep practicing and keeping up the good work.

Oleaceae 05-18-2009 01:08 AM

I was wondering why some things looked so goofy. I could never put my finger on it. Thanks for pointing that out. Now I have to try to work on it.

Updated with a modified version of my Rain fanart. ^^;

Oleaceae 05-18-2009 04:16 AM

Hehe, thanks much. ^^;
And that's fine.
Compliments are just as good as critiques (if not better!).

Woah, well, that's some really nice art. =o I absolutely love any work with tons of detail. Your's definitely have detail, especially that Original one. o.o Really, really pretty. =) I don't know much about art either, but this definitely looks like it. =o

It's very nice to see someone interested in the anime style working with hair as a group of strands instead of a mass. kudos for that. It seems to me that in your original concept you're showing much more depth and better control of your lines, your straining yourself to conform to the character in the fanart piece.

Have you considered purchasing a set of Micron pens? It'd be lovely to see some of your work inked. :)

Oleaceae 06-03-2009 08:00 AM

@ JeSsIcAtMeOwW ~ Hehe, thanks a bunch.
@ Loffel ~ I love detailing work as much as possible, and the more hair strands, the more details! Hehe. And it just looks prettier, usually. Yeah, fanarts are a little frustrating because I can't really do much to a lot of them, and I do have microns (most of them are so used that the tips broke. ._.). I'm hoping to get new pens from my friend in China, soon.

And I have a new piece. I'll post the line art and the finished CG here:
This is a fan art of Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy (in Nintendo style).

ooooo the new piece is sooo kewl.how do
you do that kind of art?do you draw it?x3

Oleaceae 06-03-2009 03:54 PM

@ TheDesireMistress ~ In this case I used the pen tool on Photoshop after sketching(and a really horrible sketch, too) out the basic outlines. (As seen here:http://pitahaya.deviantart.com/art/R...-WIP-124618986)

Oleaceae 06-04-2009 08:10 PM

Finished a new piece of Princess Daisy.

Haha. Thanks. ^___^ (All of the star babies are adorkable!)

HappyXCookie 06-08-2009 05:07 AM

Your art work is amazing! Try making the hips/waist a bit more longer because on the first picture, i noticed that it was close to the chest. But I absolutely LOVE how you color! It looks pro.

Oleaceae 06-09-2009 08:49 PM

Thanks. :]
Yeah, I've noticed I had a problem with that. It's just hard to get out of the habit of doing things that way. x3

HappyXCookie 06-10-2009 01:14 AM

Lolz Ya. I know how you feel. Back the, i used to be having problems on making the waist. and making huge heads lol. But you improve over time anyways so yaa.

I saw your new piece and wow. How on earth do you color so good? What version on photoshop do you use?

Oleaceae 06-14-2009 11:18 PM

I actually color these with the pen tool and paint bucket. lol.

Samus from Metroid and Rain from G Gundam. ^_^

Dejection 06-15-2009 06:38 PM

Its cool to see someone else using the pixellated lines like I do =3 Are these oekakis? They look very nice.

Oleaceae 06-15-2009 08:23 PM

Thanks.
I don't know if they're oekaki, but I do them in photoshop with the pen tool. ^_^

Oleaceae 08-04-2010 04:32 PM

Wow, dead.
I've done a painting based on a photograph of Mariska Hargitay (Keep in mind that I've checked and rechecked, even layering the original over the painting: Her face proportions ARE correct.)

This is the ONE thing I really don't want any crits on, so please don't give it.
