Abel's RP Spinoff Tales

I'm going to make the thread here, and if it doesn't belong...I sorry! I don't consider this fanfiction, since I wrote it with my own characters from roleplays I've done on my site, Inuyasha Roleplays: Advanced. It's an oldish site, 4 years going almost, and I must say the name's a bit misleading. We don't just do Inuyasha, in fact...we haven't done Inuyasha for a while. :XD We actually do a lot of random stuffs, and if I choose to use Sesshoumaru, then that's my prerogative.

Anywho, I will say now that my base characters are usually based on anime/manga or game characters....BUT I oftentimes change the overall personality so much that they aren't even like the characters off which they are based. I.e, my Nightstealer's Academy version of Jade Curtiss is nothing like his base character from the game "Tales of the Abyss." He just has the name.

Having said that, I think I'll start by posting one of my short stories, just to give you a taste of what I can do as far as literature. Though...the first one is rather old. Lol.

The following story is unfinished, but should still be acceptable as far as short stories go. Dunno how long it'll end up unfortunately.

I shall compose a new post for it, with all the extra information required for you to understand it, though unfortunately I cannot link you to the rp since it's on a private board. Most of the best rps I'm in are on private boards, unfortunately. XP

I take reviews happily, and want to know how I can improve my style and such. Don't worry about hurting my feelings unless you're really trying. I'm usually not too sensitive to constructive criticism. :)

Okay, so here's the deal with this short one; my character Jade had, at this point in the rp, found out that he is not a normal vampire, but rather...he is a Crusnik, which is a vampire that feeds on other Vampires. At current in the rp...Jade's not even alive. Of course, ti isn't a permanent death, and that's where my other older, more experienced Crusnik comes in.

Abel's about six thousand years old, and is the first created Crusnik in the world. He usually keeps really down-low, and only ever resurfaces when a Crusnik is born. And there is only ever one other in the world, because Crusniks are meant to be fail-safes, for when the world becomes absolutely overpopulated with Vampires. They, as the Vampire's predator, are the only creature who can singlehandedly whittle numbers down, though of course Abel offers his helping hand.

He'd have had the population under control if there wasn't such a boom that he got completely overwhelmed, and now he is overfeeding and overextending himself to try and make up for it.

Anyway, if things hadn't gone so HOLYSHITWOW in the rp, Abel would have ended up living with Jade in his mansion, and they would have gotten along a lot better. And Jade also would have been taught by Abel to harness his Crusnik powers, tendencies, and cravings.

This is one way that the first Crusnik manages his own cravings for blood when he's particularly hungry. :P

Keep in mind that Crusniks have an affinity for sugar, because they are actually more human than Vampire, despite their obvious vamipristic tendencies. Sugar offers them the energy they need to use their wings, which is why they must eat to supplement large energy use, such as what flying presents.

And now, enjoy my story. Note, it's not at all related to Abel's reason for liking his tea with 13 sugars in Trinity Blood, as far as I'm aware.

And ALSO BE AWARE that I'm not from England, but Jade is. So don't shoot me.

Milk Tea With 13 Sugars

Jade sighed heavily as he shoved the covers off of himself with his bare feet. It was agitating when he felt the need to snack on something. Especially when it was light out. That was the one time in which he couldn't get a decent snack, because of the strictly nocturnal time frame of Vampires.

Upon entering his kitchen, he was surprised to see another tall figure, this one bearing long, silver hair rather than his own chestnut colored locks.

"Abel?" he murmured tiredly, unfolding and putting his glasses on so that he might see better. He hadn't thought he would need them, but his vision really was terrible, and he didn't want to stagger in front of the elder Crusnik.

"Oh, hello Jade. So I see I'm not the only one up for a midnight snack."

Jade shrugged lightly.

"It's a bother, being unable to feed when you want it. The closest I can get is Reyna's blood, and tasty or not, I doubt it's the best snack."

"I must agree," Abel commented, nodding. "Too much human blood can bring negative results to an awakened Crusnik. Your body isn't going to have a high tolerance to it anymore."

Jade figured there would be limitations, and of course, Abel would know them all. Speaking of Abel, he wondered what the man was preparing at the stove. His body was blocking it.

"May I inquire as to what you're making?" Jade eventually said, leaning against the island counter. Abel turned his azure gaze onto the younger Crusnik.

"Oh, just a little tea," he said cheerily. "Milk tea, actually. I'm quite fond of it."

Jade, being of British descent, was fond of tea himself, and so he couldn't say that it wasn't a good idea. A cup here and then was nice, especially when he had the time.

"Is there enough for two?" he asked as Abel picked up the kettle before it could start making too loud a whistle and began pouring boiling water into a cup. He smiled at Jade, reaching for the cabinet holding more cups.

"Of course. It's nice to share a cup of tea with someone, besides," he commented in his same uplifting tone. It was nice to hear a voice like that, a sincerely optimistic voice, rather than his own cynical tone, Jade realized. He was really starting to like this Abel fellow. His past aside, and the deceit surrounding him forgotten as well, the Elder Crusnik was quite amiable. He had no problem living, as far as Jade could see.

If only I myself had that sentiment. And yet...Abel's eyes are forlorn. There is more to him than can be seen...

Soon enough, a steaming cup of milk tea was set before Jade, and Abel was spooning sugar into his own. Jade had never seen Abel with tea, and thus, had never seen how much sugar the man took.

2 didn't seem to be enough, nor 3. Abel must really have like his tea sweet...but 5...?

As the seconds ticked by, Abel continued to delve into the sugar, adding and adding until he reached 13. By then, Jade's eyebrows were raised quite high. The tea itself looked like little more than sugar permeated with a brownish liquid. Like a pile of goo....

"My my, you certainly enjoy your sugar, don't you?" Jade commented teasingly. "You sure you don't want more?"

Abel stirred his sugar-tea goop with a spoon and grinned at Jade.

"I like tea, and I like sugar," he replied simply. "You should try it too. You'll find you like it as well."

Jade was skeptical of that, but something about Abel's tone almost suggested that he try this strange mixture. And after all, he couldn't exactly say he himself didn't enjoy sugar when he baked brownies and other such things to quell his hunger at the worst of times.

"I'll see about this then," he said, sounding as skeptical as he looked while he spooned out 13 teaspoons of sugar and attempted to dissolve as much as he could of the white powder by stirring it into his tea.

As he stirred, he had to admit...the texture was alluring, and it was enough to make his stomach rumble. What was this bewitchery? Why did milk tea bring forth this result, it was naught but tea...

"Taste it," Abel implored quietly, a firm suggestion, before he sipped at his own drink. Jade did not hesitate in bringing the cup to his lips, tipping it back so as to sample the half-solid. It flowed thickly into his mouth, sweet and rich. He found his fangs lengthening ever so slightly as he swallowed the mixture more voraciously than he'd expected. Upon finishing it, he set the glass down and wiped his mouth sloppily.

"Abel...what is this?" he questioned lowly.

"Milk tea is smooth and warm, but it lacks texture," the silver-haired man said, as if making a simple observation. "Sugar gives it flavor and texture...a texture akin to blood. It's quite the little trick, especially since the Crusnik biology seems to crave sugar a fair bit more than any other human dietary substance. I feel it is due to our different abilities and our affinity to humans. Vampires are closer to monsters. A Crusnik, however...is more human than bloodsucker, if that makes sense. We develop control much more quickly, as a natural trait, and we can feed less often than our cousins, even if we must feed more to sustain our bodies."

Jade seemed enraptured by Abel's explanation, taking it all in like the scholar he could very well have been were he not born in the time he had been.

"I see," he murmured. "Yes, quite the clever little trick..."

Abel laughed nervously as he adjusted his thick spectacles.

"Oh, but don't get me wrong. I do like my sugar~" he said lightly with a grin.

"Mm...yes, I enjoy a bit myself," Jade admitted, laughing to himself. Milk tea with 13 sugars...Reyna's just going to love that...more like she'll take the mick out of me for being such a sugar fiend...
