s.s. brotherhood || a mythical cruise || semi-closed
• welcome to the s.s. brotherhood! An interesting piece of mail arrived today. It reads, "Congratulations! You have just won a free, all expenses paid vacation cruise!" Surely enough, you have! It's not a crazy scam! Who knew! At first, it seems that there are very few people around for a cruise, but who cares? You've won! • updates 7.12.09 This is a very important one. The thread is still open for RPing, but I will no longer be taking applications. I think there are enough people who have applied to keep the thread going. And, due to my very active lifestyle, I can no longer RP with you guys. If you need to alter your app, please PM me. Thank you. I'm sorry for not being able to play. • map of the ship There are three main decks to the ship. Firstly, there is the Top Deck where every outdoor activity imaginable takes place. These activities range from the mundane shuffle board to the adventurous rock climb to the simple smoothie/alcohol bar. Secondly, there is the Entertainment Deck. Shopping, massages, dining (fine and not so fine), even movies and more await you. Lastly, there is the Sleeper Deck. All of the rooms are contained here. There are other decks (IE staff, captain, etc), but well... I'm sure you can figure out that you're not allowed there. |
• rules • We don't care what "level" of an RPer you are. As long as you are trying your best, you are welcome here. • application These can be as short or as elaborate as you wish. They can be lists or full out sentences. Please, do not use images for the appearance unless they are "dream avis" or original sketches. These can come from any source (IE gaia, a "dollz dress up site", the sims), but we prefer for you to make up your own appearance rather than a generic anime picture.Quote:

Gregory had spent the last two hours within his very cramped room. He hated ships specifically for this reason. Of course, his parents couldn't upgrade him to a suite. No. Each guest had their room assigned randomly. Or, so he was told. This room had absolutely nothing worth of entertainment within it. However, he had sworn to himself that he would not leave. Just because he was here did not mean he had to be civil about it. |
Clair was running around the entertainment deck trying to find something to do. She was bored out of her mind and she had done everything humanly and otterly possible. She had went swiming, explored the pipeing, scared humans, watched t.v. and many other things. so finally she decided to go and make a friend or two.
She ran round the deck in her otter form and smiled at everyone. They never saw her when she was in this form since she was so low to the ground. That was the good thing since you could steal things when she wanted to which she hardly ever did. The bad thing was that they usually almost steped on her. Which was happening right now. She was getting tired of it so she decided to hich a ride on someones shoulder. She then saw a man with blond hair that seemed to stand out and climbed up his leg and onto his shoulder. She smiled happly hopeing that when he saw her it wouldn't freak him out. |
"Aaaahhh! Just think about it, Mosh! Three weeks of sun, surf, and time away from courtly duties. Just food and fun and all those delicious looking men." As she looked around the entertainment deck from where she lounged in her circular, portable tank of ocean water, Lamia had to resist the urge to lick her lips. That fellow over there with the fox ears and tail, sipping something in a glass, looked particularly hot.... Maybe she could invite him into her tank to cool down....
"It does indeed sound pleasant, Lamia," Mosh spoke from where he stood behind her, gripping the steering mechanism on the tank. He looked around as she did, only with a more detached air. "However, you should remember that you are not just here only for fun, but to learn more about other races. Improving relations with diplomacy is why we are here. Not," he added pointedly, "seducing other shapeshifters." Lamia sighed gustily and tossed her hair, which was dripping wet at the ends from falling into the ocean water in the tank, over her shoulder. "Yes, yes. You're right, of course, Mosh.... As always," she added in a tone that only BARELY hinted at resentment. If only she could split her tail into human legs like her faithful bodyguard could.... Then she'd actually stand a chance of losing him in the crowd and having some fun by herself. But no, she was stuck here in her tank and had to rely on him to cart her around. Lamia shrugged and resumed her survey of the deck. Oh well. There were worse people to be baby-sat all the time by than Mosh, that was for sure. Now, time to be diplomatic. The princess looked around for a potential person to strike up conversation with. |
Gregory almost completely halted in his tracks. As if it wasn't bad enough that he actually left his room, now someone or something was hitching a ride. He tried his best to peer at the creature now sitting on his shoulder, but to no avail. Try as he might, he just could not see it. |
Clair sighed a little bit when she hear how annoyed he sounded. "sorry, I just dont like being steped on." she said softly and jumped of his shoulder and onto the floor. Then turned into her human form. "sorry again." she said as she looked at him. He looked kind of cutie but yet weird since he wore clothing that didn't fit yet fit there time. "it is just easyer to hich a ride since there are so many people here." she said as she looked at him. "oh my name is Clair" she said as she held out her hand to him happly.
|
He resisted the urge to shudder. Now he'd have to get the fur off his coat. |
Lamia was getting bored now, and a tad fed up. The people here all seemed so absorbed with whatever it was they were doing; it was hard to get a word in. And that cute foxy male turned out to already have a woman with him. At least the food was good, she mused to herself as she absently munched on some Mediterranean-flavored chips (odd, how the humans named their food.... She had once sampled some actual fare from that particular body of water, and these chips tasted nothing like it). Lamia offered some chips to Mosh, but he politely refused.
"Your loss," the princess muttered, placing another chip in her mouth. Then she caught sight of a female otter and smiled to herself. She'd always been fond of the frisky things, even though they didn't come down around her kingdom that often. Idly, she wondered what the otter was doing on the cruise; she looked rather young. That meant she'd only recently struck out into the world on her own. Lamia had to laugh when she saw the otter dodging people's feet and ultimately shimmying up to a young man's shoulder. The animal knew how to move, that was for sure. Then the otter transformed into a young woman with a contrite expression on her face. O-ho, Lamia thought. Not an animal after all. A passenger like the rest. That young man didn't have the most engaging of expressions on his face... Well, the girl was of the aquatic peoples, at least partially, and girls had to stick together. Plus, as Heir Apparent to Squiddicus, it was Lamia's duty to look after all water people, not just her own. So thinking, she raised a hand (now devoid of chips, as she had since consumed them all) and pointed a finger in the direction of the otter-girl and Mr. Snooty-Face. "Let's head that way, Mosh," she declared, moving her voluminous tail-fin around chipperly. "Did you see that girl change? It would be lovely to have a chance to converse with another water-dweller on this trip; up until now I'd thought we were the only ones." "So did I, Lamia. It would seem that we thought wrong." So saying, Mosh steered Lamia's tank towards the two who were conversing. |
Gregory noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Assuming that the introductions were finished with Ms. Clair, he put his hand down and tried to glance over at the odd site without staring. (He may have been a snoot, but he wasn't a rude snob.) He immidiately noticed it was a male and female mermaid. He had only seen them in textbooks before. It's quite a site to see something one found beautiful and curious for the first time in person. |
Clair nodded when she saw the two mermaids. The girl looked nice and clair smiled at her. He loved to met other water creatures since she was always looking for her real parents. She competley forgot about Gregory and ran over to the girl happly. When she got closer she turned into her otter form and hoped into her tub. She looked at the girl and smiled "hello" he said happly as she swam around in the tub. "my name is Clair and it is nice to met you" she said happly.
|
Gregory decided that the best course of action would be to fade into the background and observe. He was one hundered percent sure that if he were to go over there, his mouth would hang agape and he wouldn't be able to stop combing the two with his eyes. |
Quick as a flash, Mosh had grabbed the otter and thrown her out onto the deck. Lamia's eyes widened at the sight of Clair slamming onto the deckboards, then sat straight up and glared at him.
"Mosh!" She scolded. "That is hardly the way to get on the right foot with people, especially here!" Mosh's face was as composed as ever, although there was a slight tic in his forehead. "I am sorry, Your Majesty," he addressed Lamia; the only times he called her by her formal title were if he was angry or distressed. Maybe now he was both. "It was... it was reflex." "Well, you will have to do your best to think before you act out on this ship," Lamia continued on in a harsh tone. "Besides, if you haven't forgotten I am quite capable of taking care of myself. What could she do in that form anyway, bite my face off? Couldn't you see that the poor thing meant no harm?" The princess leaned out over the side of the tank, gazing over at Clair with worried eyes. "I apologize most profusely for my bodyguard's behavior, Clair. Should you choose to shun me after this, I will understand. However, it is my wish that, as fellow water-dwellers, we have the opportunity to get to know one another." As she spoke, she tried to ignore the silence that had fallen over the people surrounding them, the shocked looks that were being directed their way, the murmurs that were beginning to rise nearby. "Not the right way to start off this cruise at all, Mosh," she muttered so that only she herself could hear. |
Clair turned back into her human form and stood up. She smiled at the girl and shook her head "I will nto shun you but him on the other hand." she said and as she walked over to Mosh and grabed him by the shirt and threw him into the wall. She may be a girl but she wasn't weak, infact she was stronger then you think a girl her age should be. "that is for before" he yelled at him. She then turned back to the girl with a smile on her face like she had not just thrown her bodyguard into a wall. "yes I would also like to get to know you better." she said and turned back into her otter form and jumped back into her tub happly.

The clock couldn't have struck four at a better time. An already long day had grown even more tiresome when Abigail Parish came to the grim realization that today was none other than lasagna day. The dishes had piled to inconceivable heights with pans and plates crusted over with cheese and tomato sauce. The scrubbing was exhausting and painful, and the smell of simmering food wafting in from the next room not helping the green-haired dishwasher's already growling stomach.
With that, she put one foot right in front of the other, out the swinging kitchen door and onto the deck. "Oh, come on!" Abigail cried almost immediately, stomping one combat-boot-clad foot on the deck - the deck that, at present, appeared to be coated with a thin, slimy layer of green indiscernable muck. This was a wrong move. When the young dishwasher's foot met the deck again, she promptly slid, dragging the entire backside of her body through the gunk. With a sigh, she got to her feet, rubbed her back, and tried to carry on as though she hadn't just slid ten feet through a mystical substance of which she wasn't quite sure she wanted to know the origin. "Things could be worse, self," Abigail muttered, "At least be grateful the slime matches your shoes." Scraping by the little concession stand at her left (swiping a bottle of water as she did so), Abigail made her way across the deck to stand by a blonde-haired stranger. She'd never met him before and he admittedly wasn't her first choice for a chat, but he'd do in a pinch. She took in the sight of the scene unfolding before her - one that involved an otter being flopped unceremoniously to the floor below - with a mild interest. Nudging her likely reluctant companion in the side, Abigail nodded in the direction of the three. "Nothing quite like dinner and a show, eh?" |
The blonde wizard had a small jump as he looked to his right. There was a short woman. But, not just any woman. Good. God. What on Earth was she wearing?! He initially had no idea what to think. He had heard of these types with their crazy dress. But, much like the mermaid, it was an experience all its own to see one in person. |
Abigail chuckled and rolled her eyes. How clever was he? This pretty boy obviously thought well of himself. Must have thought he was really cute for knocking her hair in such a subtle manner.
"I'd love to sit cook up a good response to that," she started, turning to better face the young man,"but well... my mother always said that actions speak louder than words, and I'm feeling like giving a demonstration." With that, she swung back her arm and released swiftly, nearly allowing it to connect with his nose. Abigail's clenched fist stopped a hair away from impact, and she let it linger for effect before allowing her arm to drop as she slouched back against the wall. After a pause, she chuckled lightly and said "Come to think of it, I'm not quite sure that's exactlywhat Mom had in mind." She felt so damn satisfied. It felt good to take the first swing of the trip. |
He flinched and tried to remember the spell that turned him to rubber. But, he stopped just before he was about to say the spell. He blinked uncontrolably, still unsure of what was going on. Gregory realized that this... woman almost caused him harm. |
Abigail grinned smugly, pleased that she seemed to have at least temporarily stunned this snarky little fellow.
In response to his threat, the dishwasher merely shrugged. Whatever creature this blonde guy was, he didn't look to be a very big threat whatsoever. "You could, I guess," she started, looking up sideways at the young man, "But I'd think by now you're well aware that being, ah, 'very green' isn't a very threatening concept to me." As if to further prove this point, Abigail ran a hand through her short spikes and clicked her green boots together like Dorothy did in Oz. After a moment, Abigail sighed. Belligerence grew stale pretty quickly when your prey was as boring as this. Certainly there had to be a better way to pass the time on a luxury cruise ship than arguing with a self-righteous snoot. She shoved herself off the wall and into an upright position. "Well, it's been real," she stated in mock sincerity, then snickered. "Smell you later, blondie!" With that, she strode off, in search of better conversations to be involved in - or to eavesdrop on. Whatever worked. |
Skylar let out a content and tired sigh. The big rush for dinner was over and now all that were left were a few stragglers who were eating slowly. Grabbing her own dinner and her current reading material, she threw off her white toque, apron and double breasted jacket to leave her in a tan tunic and dark green pants and bid the rest of the kitchens staff good night as she left for her room. But as she was leaving she saw one of the dish washer girls huff off, leaving behind a frustrated man. She could hardly go back to her room and ignore a problem that may come back and bite her kitchen in the behind. Skylar kept her bag of food balanced and book between her hip and her arm as she carefully managed through the bustling deck to the blond man.
"Excuse me sir, if you do not mind me asking, did you have a problem with your meal or your dinner experience? I'm one of the head chefs. Is there any way I can service you? You have a look of dissatisfaction." The customer always came first, and with this ship being full of some creatures that could easily over power her, it didn't hurt to be polite to strangers. |
Flabbergasted. That was the only word to describe his current status. He had been insulted, threatened. And, for the first time in his life, his threat of power held no bearing upon the person in question. He was confused and furious. The girl wanted to be lizard-like? Fine. As she turned away, he pulled out a eight inch wand from his coat pocket. He whispered a spell he was sure the girl could not hear. With a silent burst of color, the girl now had an iguana-like tail protruding from her back side. And, with this spell, it could only be fixed when he willed it. This would be most enjoyable. |
Lamia looked back at where Mosh was righting himself, looking quite disheveled and trying NOT to look that way at the same time. The overall effect was quite amusing. "Mosh, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were slacking," the princess told him, shaking her head. "You have of course been keeping up with your training?"
Mosh smoothed a hand over his hair and did his best to to outright glare at Clair. "Obviously not as much as I should be. My apologies, Your Highness. I will raise my training's level at once." "See that you do," Lamia replied absently, watching Clair with a smile as the otter swam around her tail. This tank was only supposed to be big enough for one particular oceanic princess, but hey. Two's company, and there wasn't a third asking to join them. So not quite a crowd. Her attention was diverted as she saw a woman with a particularly green backside walking away from a disgruntled looking young man--the same Mr. Snooty-Face that had been talking with Clair earlier, she realized. Lamia saw him pull out a wand and use it to give the woman an iguana tail. She could not repress a derisive snort. "Really, he thinks THAT is going to put her off? She's on a cruise ship FULL of 'freaks'; I don't think this particular bit of blending in is going to rock her boat any." Glancing over her shoulder at her bodyguard, who had resumed his place behind her at the steering handles, she asked, "You think so, Mosh?" "I agree, Your Majesty." Hoo, boy. He really was mad. She should remind herself to do something to make it up to him later. "I suspect that it is he who is imposing his own fears on the lady... Not the other way around." Lamia did not bother to keep her voice down, and so neither did Mosh. What did she care if the young magician heard her? By that act alone he'd shown himself to be a twerp. With that thought in mind, the princess of Squiddicus began to braid her long brown hair, directing her gaze back to Clair. "So are you enjoying the ship so far, my young otter?" |
Tawyna leaned against the doorway of her small cabin and surveyed the room. It was small and adequate...all she could need. She looked down to one of her suitcases and grinned. Binoculars, books, plenty of sunscreen, and her notebook. It was going to be a good trip.
She adjusted her big floppy sun hat and put her hand on the doorknob. It was only a momentary pause, but she used it to clear her mind of the delusions she'd thought she'd had when she stepped on board. Someone had looked more than a little green around the edges...they were completely green all over! Nah, just her imagination and the beauty of the water. She turned the knob and stepped out on deck; a small map in her hand that she glanced at before turning to her left and starting towards the bar. She grinned and pictured the mai-tai she was about to indulge in. |
"Very nice to hear sir. Dinner is still going on. Just follow me sir." Skylar turned around to go back to where she was coming from, turning around to see if the passenger was still behind her and not lost in the crowd. It wasn't long before they were in front of the doors of the dining room.
"By the way, my name is Skylar, nice to meet you sir, and do have a nice meal." With a small bow, she turned around to search for her room. She was still planning tomorrow morning's meal details and there were only a few hours of free time before she had to wake for cooking... Kevin 'prowled' around the ship, still in his humanoid form dressed in black slacks, enjoying the last rays of the sun before he went below to his heated blankets and a few snacks to enjoy. Though there were plenty of 'treats' on deck... He sighed and shifted into a panther and slid through the crowded deck easily. It seemed as if the deck never emptied... |
