Leane rolled her eyes, "I don't believe I want to know what I've just got myself into.. And yes, I like being around food, and not just to eat it," she added with a laugh, "Having a cook at home, I'm not able to make things myself unless the cook is off-duty. But even then Josh always takes over the kitchen. So, my only chance to cook is in class during the week."
Blushing, Leane looked up at him, "You probably think I'm being dumb.. huh.." |
"No." Matthew disagreed. "I don't think its dumb. I think its cool your interested in food." Matthew grinned as they reached her locker. "I'll see you in History, love." Matthew grinned, giving Leane's forehead a quick kiss before disappearing for his own locker.

Putting her art things inside her locker, Leane grabbed her History books and looked around for Joanna and Jenny. It'd been a couple days since she'd seen them, and she was beginning to wonder why.. 'If I don't see them in lunch, I'm asking Ben to track them down..' she mused as she shut her locker and headed towards her history class.

Matthew moved through the crowd of students to his locker where Ben stood waiting for him. "You sure about not going to the nurse?" Ben asked. "He could've done some damage to your stomach."
"I'm fine. And don't tell that to Leane." Matthew warned. "She already feels bad, I don't want it any worse." "Fine. Its your stomach." Ben shurgged before turning to leave for hs next class while Matthew made his way to History. |
When Leane walked into History, Joanna and Jenny had yet to arrive. Sitting down at her desk, Leane began pondering, and fretting, about why they seemed to be avoiding her like a plague. 'What's with them? They seemed so fine with me dating Matt before.. what the hell's gotten into those two?!'
In truth, Jenny and Joanna weren't avoiding Leane. They simply tried to give her a bit of worry-free alone time with Matt while distracting the football team with a bit of flirting. When they had heard about what happened to Matt, they themselves went and chewed out Kurt, promising him that he would lose the next game if he wasn't careful. |
Matthew made his way to History, giving a smile to Leane before sitting in his usual seat. "What happened to you nose? You look awful." A boy, Scott, asked.
"Its nothing." Matthew said plainly, looking striaght ahead of him. "Kurt get to you?" The boy guessed. "Why do you even bother fighting for her? She's a brat. Not worth the trouble." He said, motioning to Leane's back with his eyes. "I suggest you keep you keep your opinions to yourself." Matthew said darkly, grabbing the front of Scott's shirt. "Unless you want to match your nose to look like mine." He added, worried that Leane would overhear. |
Even though Leane hadn't heard the exchange between Matt and Scott, Jenny had as she made her way to her seat behind Scott. Placing a hand on Matt's shoulder, Jenny shook her head, "Don't. He's not worth it. If you get into another fight today, Leane's going to get even more upset."
Unfortunately, Jenny's voice wasn't quiet enough to escape Leane. All Leane had heard was her name coming from Jenny's lips as Jenny took her seat. Turning around, Leane asked, "Oh, so you're talking to me now?" Noticing the scene, Leane's mouth opened a tad in shock as she tried to figure out what was going on. "I think... I missed something..." |
"Its fine." Matthew said, letting go of Scott's shirt.
"Nothing but your whipping boy standing up for you." Scott whispered, rolling his eyes and earning a dirty look from Matthew. "Attention please. Everyone in your seats." The teacher called before starting class, relieving Matthew from having to explain what had happened until after class. |
Sighing, Leane's hands went straight to her forehead and temple as a headache began to form. Resting her elbows onto her desk, Leane leaned her forehead into the palms of her head, still paying attention, just resting a bit.
And although Leane hadn't heard Scott's jab, and Matt was unable to act on it, Jenny reached up and slapped the back of his head before looking up at the teacher as if nothing happened. |
Matthew sat quietly for the rest of class, doing his work silently to remain unnoticed by the teacher. He didn't want anymore trouble today.
As soon as the bell rang, Matthew waited for Leane at her desk. "Do you know what's for lunch today?" He asked casually. |
"Well, I hope it's 'I'll-tell-my-girlfriend-what-just-happened-with-Scott' salad with a dish of 'I'll-tell-my-girlfriend-precisely-what-happened-even-if-it-will-upset-her' for dessert," she stated as she packed up her things. Slipping her hand into his, she stood on her toes and placed a tender kiss upon his lips. "So, what happened with Scott.." she asked hesitantly as she led him out of History towards his locker.

"He was being a jerk. He told me not to bother sticking up for you against Kurt and I disagreed." Matthew mumbled sheepishly. "I told him that I'd match his nose to mine if he didn't back off."
"But really, do you know what's for lunch?" He asked with a grin, hoping that she'd let the Scott incident pass. "I'm starving." He said rubbing his stomach gently, careful to press against the bruise he was sure was growing. |
"Mac and cheese or hot dog," Leane said with a sigh before looking up at him, "You do realize you're going to hear that alot.. don't you? What are you going to do, threaten to beat up every guy who bad-mouths me? Matt, that's crazy. Then, not only will you have the football team after you, but you'll have a tenth of the highschool as well!"

"Yeah, I guess I was still a little fired up from dealing with Kurt." Matthew admitted as they reached his locker. He slid his books in his locker before shutting it and pulling Leane closer to him. "But I hate that people talk poorly about you." He said quietly, avoiding the odd looks from the people around them about how close he'd gotten to Leane.

Setting her books on top of the locker, Leane wrapped her arms around his neck and placed a tender kiss upon his lips. "And I love that you care that much about me and wish to stand up for me, but I hate the thought of you getting hurt on account of me. I'd much rather whatever they need to say be said about me and it just be looked over. I'm used to their insults, it doesn't phase me anymore."
Softly caressing his cheek, Leane sighed, "I love you and I don't want you getting hurt anymore... even if it is because someone said something wretched about me.. The only time I want you to fight is when someone's started something with you. If someone hurts you, don't let it slide, knock his face in," she added with a laugh before placing a deep, tender kiss upon his lips. |
Matthew smiled against Leane's lips as she kissed him. He pulled her tighter against him, not caring about the pain in his stomach as he did so. "I really am starving." He teased when he'd broken the kiss. "Let's get to your locker." He advised, grabbing her books and putting an arm around Leane's waist as he led her to her locker where Gena stood, waiting for the two of them.

Crossing her arms, Leane glared at Gena as she spat, "You're in my way, you jealous freakazoid. Move it."

"Lee." Matthew soothed, tightening his arm around her. Gena looked uneasily at Matt who in response gave her an encouraging smile.
"Look, Leane." Gena started, pausing to swallow nervously. "I'm sorry about how I acted. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I had no right. I was wrong and I'm really sorry. Please don't hate me. You're obviously important to Matt and he's still my best friend. I don't want us to be fighting." She said quickly, wringing her hands. |
"Oh, you're sorry and don't want us to be fighiting huh. You're damn right you had no right, and if you think I'm forgiving you just because you're Matt's friend, you're highly mistaken. Now get out of my way."
Seeing that Gena hadn't moved out of her way yet, Leane added icily, "I'm sorry, did I not make myself clear? Let me try spelling it. G-e-t, Get. O-u-t, Out. O-f, Of. M-y, My. W-a-y, Way. Get. Out. Of. My. Way. Got it now?" |
"Leane." Matthew warned, his arms pinning her back.
"Look, I'm trying to make things right." Gena spat angrily. "There's no need to act like a brat." "Gena!" Matt said harshly, his voice rising. "I'm trying to make things easier for Matt." Gena added, her mouth set in a scowl. "I'm not saying we have to be best friends but I think we should at least get along. For his sake anyways." She added, gesturing to Matthew. |
Leane laughed a short, harsh laugh, "Forget it! There's no way in hell I'll agree to that! I honestly don't see how he's put up with you all these years! You're vile, self-centered, and a complete jerk! Not to mention you use people to suit your own needs. Like Justin, for example. What's he to you other than a guy you can just screw around with any time you want?"

"Leane." Matthew hissed angrily under his breath.
"What right do you have to judge me?" Gena asked, fuming. "You're the one who got Matt to fall for you and now look at him!" She cried. "He's lucky his nose isn't broken." She yelled. "Gena, you can leave now." Matthew said, his voice dark. "Well excuse me for trying to make things better for you." Gena said angrily, crossing her arms before turning to face Leane. "And you. You're just as selfish as we all thought you were. All you care about is having Matt to yourself. You don't care if he still has any of his friends all you want is to have him to yourself. Maybe you should try and consider his happiness." She advised before turning on her heel and heading for the cafeteria. |
Shoving her locker open, Leane sighed and took her books from him. Placing them in her locker, she avoided looking at him, "I'm sorry.."

"Don't be sorry." Matthew said, leaning against the locker next to her's and placing his arm around her waist. "I just wish you two wouldn't yell at each other everytime you're in 10 feet of each other." He laughed. "You both have quite a pair of lungs on you." He joked, placing a kiss above her ear. "I think this will blow over though."

Leane sighed as she shut her locker and leaned her hip against it, facing Matt as she slipped her pointer fingers into his front two belt-loops and pulled him closer, "I doubt that. I don't want you fighting with her.. but I can't like her, no matter what. As much as I'd like to, I just.. I can't."
Looking down at her hands, Leane whispered, "Was she right? Am I making you lose your friends? Am I really being that selfish? I.. I don't want to make you unhappy.." |
