Dinner was.. interesting, to say the least. Joanna and Jenny did most of the talking, giving Josh all the details of what they've observed and heard since Summer. Leane chipped in a bit, but hardly said anything, focusing her main attention on the delicious food in front of her.

When dinner was over, Jenny, Joanna, and Leane all headed upstairs to her room where they began doing manicures and pedicures, preparing for the ball the following evening as they talked about school - mainly the fight with Gena and the constant run-ins with Matt, detention the following morning, how the Ball decorations were to be done, went over the list of instructions for the crew, and decided officially which shoes looked best with Leane's gown.

"You know I'm happy for you right?" Jack asked Matthew as the doorbell rang. "Pizza!" He cried happily as he ran towards the door without giving Matt time to answer.

"Yes I know." Matthew finally answered when Jack came back down stairs with the pizza they'd ordered on the way back to Matt's house. "But if you're really happy for me you'll sacrifice the biggest piece to your best friend." He joked, refering to the uneven pizza cuts from their favourite pizza shop. Jack looked at the pizza slice longingly before he sighed and nodded his head. "Sweet." Matt said, picking up the largest piece and taking a large bite.

The three continued to pack away the pizza into their slender while talking over routes Matthew could take to avoid angry football players in school until it was time for Jack and Ben to leave. "We shall see you at the Ball." Ben said, bowing dramatically.

"Yeah and I'm one for grand exits." Matthew joked as they disappeared up the basement stairs.

As the girls chatted the time closed in on midnight,Leane's nails sculpted into the perfect french-tip shape with the pearl white tips glistening due to the clear top-coat. With her nails dried, and the girls exhausted from the plans being finalized, they all climbed into Leane's bed and fell asleep.

------

The next morning Leane awoke to her alarm. Groaning, Leane turned it off before it could wake the girls. Slipping out of bed, Leane quickly dressed, did her hair and make-up, and slipped downstairs for a quick breakfast of toast and juice.

Sighing, Leane picked up her purse and headed to her car, preparing herself for three hours of morning detention started at 8:30.

say-i-love-you 07-14-2009 02:31 AM

Matthew woke, still tired as he rubbed his eyes from the harsh sunlight. He glanced over at his alarm clock. 8am. Great, he sighed as he rolled out of his bed and hurried into the shower before changing into a pair of jeans and loose sweatshirt. He grabbed a piece of toast before jumping into his car and bringing it to life. Peeling out of his driveway, Matthew drove quickly to the school.

"Stupid feelings." He murmured. If Leane was going to have to suffer because of something he -well okay, it was kind of her fault but that wasn't the point. If she had to suffer, Matthew wasn't going to make her do it alone.

Emma Corrin 07-14-2009 02:39 AM

When Leane pulled into the parking lot and turned off her car, she checked her purse for her novel. Noticing in missing, Leane groaned, "I knew I was forgetting something.."

Slipping out of the car, she locked her doors and headed towards the trunk. Opening it, she began going through her gymnastics bag. Digging through it, she found her novel Daughter of Venice by Donna Jo Napoli. No matter how many times she read the book, she loved it and cried over it each and every time. It was the perfect book to read during breaks and in competitions.

Matthew sighed as he parked his car. He hated detentions. He got out of his car, slamming the door shut a little harder then needed, before locking it quickly and walking towards the school. He didn't notice Leane in her trunk as he reached the school.

Walking towards the doors, Matthew tripped causing him to drop a notebook he'd brought with him to doodle in during the detention. "Damn." He murmured. "I'm trying to be noble here." He said harshly to the sky. "Freaking karma." He added before continuing towards the doors.

Emma Corrin 07-15-2009 10:44 PM

Putting her book into her purse, Leane shut her trunk and headed towards the school. Looking up, she saw Matt and stopped in her tracks. Confused, Leane jogged up to him and teased softly, "And what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be home making up with your friends?"

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 12:54 AM

"Did you think I was going to make you suffer alone?" Matthew shrugged as he looked at the brick building. "I'm not really a morning person on weekends." He laughed, stifling a yawn. He gave Leane a quick smile before walking towards the school doors. "Even if its all your fault anyways." He teased.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 12:57 AM

"So noble," Leane teased as she rolled her eyes and followed him, "But thank you, it'll be nice to have some company in the library. I mean, sure, we can't talk while Mrs. Cooney is there, but it'll still be nice to have someone to sit by while reading, even if it is you."

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 01:08 AM

"I'm glad you appreciate it." Matthew laughed, opening the door for Leane before heading to the library. "I just hope Mrs. Cooney will be gone most of the time. I'm not a fan of silence. I think I might have trouble with the sitting still thing." He laughed as they made their way to the library. "But we can hope there's more kids there so we can have our own Breakfast Club." He smiled, referring to his favourite movie.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 01:27 AM

"The only one besides us will be Jordan Haynes, the sophomore who sleeps through class all the time. He'll most likely be sleeping the whole time, so it looks like it's up to us to entertain ourselves. Just promise you won't hit on me when we're alone, 'kay?" Leane teased as she laughed, "And you actually know that movie? I'm surprised we have something in common. I adore it - Molly Ringwald is one of my favorite actresses. My favorite part is when they're dancing around the library and then Claire does her 'trick' with the lipstick. It's crazy how even though John was such a jerk to her and made fun of her, Claire still ended up falling for him and kissing him in the end. Have you watched Sixteen Candles? I know they're old and silly to most people, but I adore them to no end."

While she spoke, they neared the library. Blushing, Leane stammered softly, "S-sorry for going off like that, you really should learn to shut me up."

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 01:33 AM

"It may surprise you." Matthew said, opening the library door for her. "But your ramblings aren't as embarressing as you think. I enjoy listening to you. And I've only seen bits of Sixteen Candles. But I think my favourite part of the movie is when they eat lunch and the strange girl has the sanwich of goldfish and pixie stix. How she ever ate that amazes me." He laughed as they entered the library, nodding to Mrs. Cooney as they did so.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 01:39 AM

Blushing at his comment, but hiding it with a laugh as she recollected the scene where Allison ate the odd concoction. Deciding that she was reading too much into Matt's statement about her, Leane looked past it and simply went on to talk about the movies, "I'll admit, I could never do that - even for a movie. It must have tasted so awful! I don't know how she did it with a straight face. As for Sixteen Candles, it's a must watch! I have it on DVD, if you'd like I can let you borrow it after the Ball tonight. Never mind, there's no way you'd want to watch some silly chick flick. Forget it, that was stupid, got too caught up in thinking about them and remembering how much I love them, I just kinda start to assume everyone else loves them as much as I do once I get that way," she rambled as she blushed and took a seat at a small circular table, a few tables behind Jordan Haynes, who as promised was fast asleep.

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 03:04 AM

Matthew took a seat in one of the uncomfortable library chairs, resting his feet on the table in front of them. "I think I might be able to survive a chick flick if I have you watching it with me." He winked before pulling out his notepad and pencil, beginning to doodle a mass of lines, unsure of what would be drawn.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 03:10 AM

Leane blushed, "R-really? I'd like that, a lot. H-"

"QUIET!" called Mrs. Cooney as peered over her book, "If you two don't hush, I'm going to assign essays to be written that will be due by the end of detention, do I make myself clear?"

Nodding, Leane dug through her purse and took out her worn-out novel. Flipping to the first page, Leane bit her lower lip as she immersed herself into her novel, sneaking small peeks at Matt as she read, her thoughts swirling - wondering if she was reading too much into things, or if he really meant what he said.

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 03:15 AM

Matthew rolled his eyes at Mrs. Cooney but he did quiet down, distracting himself with his drawing. The lines began to take a shape, Leane sitting in her chair with her eyes focused on the worn pages. Lines began to swirl as her hair was shaped. Matthew slid his pencil over her curves, watching her out of the corner of his eyes though it wasn't needed. He could remember her pose perfectly without looking. Photographic memory... He told himself. It had nothing to do with how beautiful she looked as she escaped into her book. Absolutely nothing...

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 03:23 AM

After an hour had passed, Leane had gotten to the part where Donata's twin was upset with her for stealing her marriage hope. Donata, to make it right, made one last visit to the Ghetto to say goodbye.

It was then that Mrs. Cooney was called out of the library for a phone call in the Office. Leane, however, didn't even hear Mrs. Cooney's departure, she was too engrossed in her book, eagerly reading on to the scene where Donata should have shared a kiss with the Jewish boy. No matter how may times she read the book, Leane expected the book to change with each reading and somehow bring the kiss.

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 03:26 AM

Matthew finished shaping the lines of Leane's figure as she reclined next to him. Closing his notebook, Matthew set it on the table in front of him and stretched his arms above his head. "You make a good muse." He joked as he tossed his pencil lightly to land on his notebook.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 03:37 AM

Leane jumped at the sound of his voice, her heart racing as she glared lightly at him. She'd been so engrossed in her book and the quiet of the room, Leane was quite startled by the sudden voice beside her.

Realizing what he had called her, Leane's expression softened and became confused, "Muse? What do you mean?"

Eying the notebook, Leane grinned as she put her book down, not bothering to mark her page, and grabbed his notebook from the table. As the pencil rolled across the table and bumped into her novel, Leane began looking through the pages, trying to find the drawing of her.

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 03:41 AM

Matthew rolled his eyes as she flipped through his notebook. "Always so pushy." He laughed, trying to hide his embarressement as he realized that there was more then one drawing of Leane in the notebook. He sat completely still, ready for her to call him a stalker and refuse to go to the Ball with him. He watched with a tense expression as pictures of Leane flew across the pages. Leane under the tree at her art period, Leane sitting in History class taking notes, a drawing of Leane in an elaborate gown with a masq at the Ball, and the latest of Leane reading her book.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 03:50 AM

Leane blushed as she lingered on the last drawing, stating in a soft whisper, a bit shocked, "There's so many.. I.."

Looking up at him, she blushed as their eyes looked, "When did you draw all of these? They're amazing.. but.. they're such a horrible subject piece.. I.. I mean, you never seemed to give me the time of day, much less look at me.. What made you decide to draw me?"

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 03:53 AM

Matthew tried to hide his blush, he looked like a complete stalker. Great. "I, uhm, I have photographic memory and I'll start to to draw lines and they just kind of take shape. Usually its your shape." He half laughed though it was lined with tension. "I'm sorry if it offends you." He added quietly. "I don't mean to come off as a stalker but so much for that."

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 04:09 AM

Leane blushed, "I-I don't think you a stalker, I'm just sur-surprised that the shapes aren't Gena, is all. I half expected to see her taking up residence in the majority of your notebook. I'm surprised to find one picture of me in here, much less as many as there are."

Looking up at him, Leane couldn't help but smile, "But I definitely don't find it stalker-ish, I find it sweet. Makes me wonder if.. n-never mind," she finished with a blush as she closed his notebook and placed it back on the table.

say-i-love-you 07-16-2009 04:13 AM

"Makes you wonder what?" Matthew asked, deciding it best to avoid the Gena subject all together. "Its so fustrating to hear you go from rambling to shutting up completely. Is it your goal to make me constantly confused as to what you're thinking?" He teased.

Emma Corrin 07-16-2009 04:17 AM

"Is it your goal to constantly make me confused as to what you're feeling towards me?" Leane teased back. "And you'll think it stupid if I tell you what it makes me wonder.." she added softly with a blush, hardly ready to admit that it made her wonder if there was a possibility of them having a future together.
