The White Rabbit laughed at this. "Well, you enjoy watching my torture, I don't pity you." she said playfully, poking his arm. Her eyes widened a bit a Chess' comment, though true. He hadn't thought he'd bring it up, but.. ah well. "Of course not." she said in agreement, not sure how Alice would take this.
|
Alice's eyes narrowed, and she frowned at this piece of unexpected news. Her excitement at meeting her friends again became slightly dampened. The Queen was no longer playing croquet? Becoming a sadist? This wasn't the Wonderland she had expected...
Chess's comment about this being where the Queen lives made Alice take note of her surroundings once again. Of course. Now he said that, where else could it be?! Well that was one mystery solved. Now just to find out what exactly they meant by change... Alice felt an irrational anger bubble up in her at just the thought of that word. Wonderland couldn't have changed while she'd been away. She'd been waiting for too long to come back and meet all her old friends for that to have happened. They weren't meant to be different. That wasn't how she had imagined it at all! "What do you mean by change?" She asked, trying desperately to keep her voice at normal tones, but realising it still sounded a little cold. "Chess, you like watching people being tortured?! How could you? I know you've always liked to keep people confused and a bit lost around you, but watching them in pain?! I take it that was the Queen's doing from the sounds of it... She's become a sadist?" Alice's voice rose just ever so slightly during that speech, before she finally looked back at the White Rabbit. "At least you haven't changed... have you?" She asked, slightly desperately. |
The Dormouse snickered "Oh no, your precious White Rabbit hasn't changed one bit, Alice. You just keep telling yourself that." He thought to himself.
Just then, he gelt it coming on. "Oh no" he thought "This hasn't happened since I died, no no, not agai-" It was too late, it had already started. He fell to the grass asleep and rolled into plain sight. Snoring. |
He stuck his tongue out at the White Rabbit, for a moment looking like his old self, before he turned back to Alice. Her cold tone had surprised him slightly yes, but he quickly made sure to hide the surprise from both Alice and the White Rabbit.
"When things change around you, you often have to change yourself or you get left behind and forgotten. Besides...It adds a bit of excitement in my life every now and then...Really Alice, you should know me by now though, I'm not one for actually doing the torture, I rarely harm others. Next thing you know you'll be saying I'm a servant for the Queen." He laughed coldly at this before smirking slightly at her question. "Go ahead little Rabbit, you have nothing to hide right?" He grinned, suddenly stiffening. The sound of snoring reached his ears and he spun round to see something sleeping in the grass. "What's that?" ((Last post for a while)) |
The White Rabbit shifted on the halls of her feet somewhat nervously. "What Chess says is right.. when things change around you, you can't help but be changed, Alice." She heard the quiet thump in the grass, and saw a tail sticking up. A mouse tail? She cautiously approached it, finding that it was Dormouse and snickering. "I honestly thought he was dead." she said simply, picking up up and showing him to Alice and Chess. "The fool's asleep."
|
Alice, although not content with either of their explanations, was happy enough to let herself be distracted by the Dormouse. She didn't really want to get angry with her friends, but she couldn't help feeling slightly left out, having not been here for the past few years. While they'd all been, well... changing... she'd been stuck in a bed in an insane asylum, something that she definitely did not want to go back to.
Shaking that thought out of her mind, Alice grinned at the sleeping form of the Dormouse. Now here was something that hadn't changed at all. She giggled at him, looking around from some sign of the March Hare and the Mad Hatter. After all, that was where she had first met the Dormouse, at their tea party. However, their seemed to be no sign of them. She frowned slightly, then turned back to the White Rabbit, shocked at her comment. "You thought the Dormouse was dead? That's terrible. Why? How would that have happened?" She asked, eyes wide. "Also," She looked back at the sleeping mouse. "Do you think we should wake him up, maybe? He might be able to tell us where Toma and the Mad Hatter are. I'm surprised they aren't together. Although I suppose they will be drinking tea somewhere, and having a merry unbirthday party, just like always." A thought occurred to Alice as she said this, but she quickly dismissed it. That would never change, surely. |
The White Rabbit sighed. Poor Alice had expected Wonderland to be the wondrous, happy, mad place it had always been. But, oh, how the girl was mistaken. "I heard he had drowned." she said simply, looking down at the Dormouse. He did smell as if he was... well.. rotting. "I suppose waking him up wouldn't be a bad thing." She poked him a few times, attempting to wake him up.
At the mention of the tea party, she cringed. She didn't want to have to explain just how bad things had gotten here. "The Hatter and the Toma don't seem to be together much anymore since the tea party stopped... by the Queen's orders, of course. I'm not sure exactly on details, you'd have to ask one of them." She was sure her friend would be angry with this, if she kept hearing how things had changed, so she waned to spare her as many details as possible. |
The Mouse's eye flickered open. He twisted and tried to get out of the brute's hands to no avail. "Dead, what gave you that impression?" He said sarcastically.
A whisker fell out. "Why, could it be the missing eye or screwed up leg?" A final jerk just left him spinning by his tail. "If you're looking for the Hatter, good luck, for all I know he's getting captured by the card soldiers right now. He was on the other side of the garden, but that was a while ago. Now will you please let me go? I'll give you leprosy or somethin'." |
The White Rabbit frowned. "Rude, much?" She gently set the Dormouse back on the ground, a bit disgusted she had just touched a dead mouse... that was still moving. At the mention of the Hatter, she became interested. "Arrested, huh? This'll be interesting." she said, smiling.
|
"Pfft, hell if I know, like I said, I have no idea where he is no, just where he was a half an hour ago. And you know with him, time never seems to be linear. Anyway, what's everyone all doing here together anyway? Isn't it dangerous to be gathering so close to the Queen? Especially for you, Alice" He pointed a scrawny finger at her.
"Yes, by the way, the Queen has been after you ever since you left. Apparently you left her all messed up in the head. Ruined her "nice" streak. Yeah, if I were you, I'd try to get away from this particular area." He picked at his tail with particular interest. "Not that I care very much what happens to you, in fact, you know I might just turn you in, could be that you're the cure to the Queen's madness. One things for sure, you'd keep her busy for a while. Less for us to deal with. Of course that," he said half-yawningly. "Would involve talking to the queen face to face; walkin' into the Lion's den. Kinda a hassle." He jumped into the bushes. "Anywho, I'm gonna look for the Hatter now, anyone's welcome to come, but it's your neck if you get caught." |
An expression of dismay appeared on Alice's face. More things had changed? Toma and the Hatter weren't together much any more? The Dormouse... well, he was some sort of zombie... But he thought it was her fault that Wonderland had changed?! It didn't help that her dear friend that White Rabbit seemed to find people being arrested interesting either... but she was willing to try and overlook that at least, the Rabbit being her oldest friend, and her and the Cheshire Cat sounding as though they were the least changed.
"I suppose you do have a better chance of finding him than us." Alice said to the Dormouse, sounding quite irritated about this. "I guess I'll have to follow if I want to find out why exactly they stopped having their tea party. And how exactly would I have 'messed up' the Queen's head, as you so nicely put it?" She asked, tersely. Of everyone here the Dormouse had definitely annoyed her the most, although she wasn't particularly happy with any of them. Her return to Wonderland hadn't been as happy as expected. |
The White Rabbit narrowed her eyes at the Dormouse, not happy that he had already wrecked her friend's mood. "I suppose I'll follow along." she said, sighing. She could care less if they were caught, she had been tortured by Queenie constantly, it would not make much a difference. But if Allice were caught.. She shivered. The Queen would kill her. And, of course, it was all to find the Hatter and Toma. How ridiculous a reason.. but after seeing her old friend again, she wouldn't just leave.
|
The Dormouse scampered through across the garden haphazardly, looking over his shoulder to respond.
"Well, for one, before you came, the Queen wasn't that bad. She might have given us the death sentence, but the King would just pardon us so it didn't really matter. But then you decided to stop by and make a mess of things. You stole tarts, mocked the mock turtle, made a mess of the courtroom and, worst of all, told off the Queen. I guess she felt she had to compensate for that." They reached the other side of the garden near the roses. "Hmph, well this is where I assume he went to check. 'Course he's not here now." He looked around. "Well the only other place he could've gone was in the castle and that doesn't seem very much like something he'd do." ((I'm waiting for Harley to do something before I do something as the Hatter.)) |
((Sorry if I haven't replied yet. I'm on a writer's block and I've been busy but I will post tomorrow.))
|
"Oh my dear Hatter, how I've missed you so." she said softly as she looked in the kitchen. Of course she knew he was there. That was the main reason why she said it. "And to be honest. I kind of forgot what the tea set looked liked." she said blushing a bit as she looked back at the Hatter. |
The Cheshire Cat listened in silence as he viewed the Dormouse in contempt. The creature smelt disgusting to him, and it didn't help he was rotting and all. Sighing he raised an eyebrow at Alice as she decided to follow him to find both the Mad Hatter and Toma March Hare.
"Why you're risking your life just to find two old friends...I don't really understand. To be honest, out of all of us I'm the least likely to be tortured though, so I might as well come along, seeing the Hatter again will be...Interesting..." Chess murmured, yawning slightly as if he were bored. As he walked, he glanced curiously to Alice. She still seemed the same girl he'd met all those years ago, but when he'd seen her last, she was different, and was still different. "What about you Alice? Surely you've changed?" He asked finally in a purring tone. ((Not back yet, just managed to get internet for a brief time!!)) |
Alice blinked at the unexpected question staring at Chess uncertainly. "Well, I'm older, aren't I?" She finally said, turning away from him and focusing on the path in front of her.
"I don't know if you think I've changed in any other way, I guess that's for you to decide. I haven't really had the chance to do much but remember Wonderland for the past few years, as I'm sure you've know. That's why I'm risking my life to see Toma and the Hatter again, because I've been waiting to see them for so long." Alice stared determinedly at the path in front of her. She didn't really want to think too much about Chess's question, after all, if she accepted that she'd changed then she'd have to accept everyone elses changes, and she just couldn't do that. It was much better to pretend everything was the same as always. Much better. |
The White Rabbit let out a long, yet soft, sigh. Alice seemed to be very determined to not accept the other's changes... but the sad truth was that Wonderland had indeed changed, and a lot. She just hoped she wouldn't have to be the one to deal with whatever outcome there is of Alice finding out that the tea party was no more. This thought worried the rabbit a bit, and she desperately wished for a good outcome of this, so the Queen would not pick up on Alice's return.
Slowly but surely, the White Rabbit started down the path after Alice. |
(BOO!!!!!!! WHERE HAVE WE GONE FOR GOD'S SAKE?!)
|
(No idea, My Queen *will be your King of Hearts for the rp*. Although I am supposed to wait for Harley to put my profile up... I think *got confused by her pm*)
|
( the RP seems to have died.. ;.; )
|
(We can always restart it if our attempts to revive it does not work)
|
(All we really need is someone from Alices party to stumble upon the Queen, that's why I haven't posted in so long, it would be easier with the Queen in her crazy state half caring an terrorizing poeple to get people to post back by making their characters the object of my torment! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!)
|
(XDDDD I would acompany you if I could, my queen~)
|
((Well, enough of us are still around and care...))
Alice suddenly realised that the dormouse had spoken before Chess. She'd just been too distracted by Chess's question to respond. Now remembering, she seized on it eagerly as a change of subject. "Well, however unlikely it is, I suppose we have nowhere else to look." She said, slowly, carefully ignoring his previous statements about how exactly she was to blame for the state Wonderland was in. After all, that wouldn't help her remain calm at all, or rather, return to being calm. Her temper had risen to the surface a lot more since she entered Wonderland, despite how long she'd been waiting to return. Putting a smile on her face, she turned to the White Rabbit and Chess. "Let's go to the castle then." |
