His footsteps lightly crunched over the gravel driveway. Jori moved as quickly and as quietly as he dared. The mansion had begun to feel stifling and he just had to get away if only for a few hours. His parents kept him secluded like a cloister in that place. While he understood the need, and the reason why their care was a bit over the top, it didn't mean he liked it. Even a loner such as himself needed to breath the outside air.
It was chilly in the town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The breeze from the ocean nearby was keeping it cool even though it was warming up elsewhere. Spring this year had been a bit late in arriving, and summer was lax in coming here. he wore a light blue peasant shirt. The sleeves were ruffled and it laced down in the front. Black tight fitting pants and dress boots finished the ensemble. It was the poet wannabe in him that gave him his like for such. He had read too much romance, the only way he could get close to girls was through the pages of a book. This also was a necessary part of his life because...well...if things got to close with a lady, he had some physical problems. He turned into a fish...Ok only the lower half. Mermaid some people would call it. He would glare at his parents anytime they dared to name him as such. They had blood tests secretly done, and he was the biological son, and no word in the past about such strange circumstances in the family. They were clueless.... So he suffered as a permanent house boy. Grounded forever by his strange body. But today it was too much. He needed to get out into the world, breath the air, maybe even risk swimming in the ocean. he quickly left the area of his neighbor hood and walked into town. There seemed to be a bit of commotion and not just the usual tourist kind. He stopped when a flyer in bright colors caught his eye. It seemed there was some kind of circus in town. That must have been what all the commotion was about. He followed the small trail and talk to where canopied tents sat in a field, just around the corner from where he had walked in. How he missed it while walking up to town was beyond him. He strolled in trying not to attract any unusual amount of attention while still being detached from the crowd. He felt a little excitement. He hadn't been around this many people in a long while. As long as he was careful he was sure things would be fine, plus he could savor this moment for lock down his parents would give him upon his return. It made his trip out more worth it then he would have thought. |
Brandy sat cross legged on the bench. Her arms were folded over her pink tank topped chest and she squirmed uncomfortably in the heat. Even underground in the subway she felt it against the back of her neck like a warm, creeping hand.
Aside from the near severe heat, everything was okay. She loved the subway, it's where she went to go when she didn't want to think, which was most of the time. Her nose picked up the smell of the popcorn and roasted nut vendors upstairs, along with the smell of earthy minerals and concrete, not to mention B.O. You'd think people would have enough sense to wear more deodorant in this heat... Her ears were overcome with the sounds of laughing, of people speaking different languages (friggin' tourists). The normal businessmen and commuters had there ipods on blaring. and the one of the sounds she liked the most- of various instruments playing, their owners cajoling for change with there melodies on the concrete floor. Somedays she longed to be like those people, to have people watch her in awe of her talents, and to be able to travel wherever she wanted. She wanted to be paid to be acknowledged...Even if she didn't get much money for it. Of course, she was being acknowledged now. With her tight fitting top and short skirt, she was getting many a stare... Too bad she didn't know one of the pairs of eyes wasn't a normal, pervy passerby, this one wanted her for way more then that...and her earlier wish of being acknowledged would be true. She heard the harsh, graveling sound that meant only one thing; the train was coming. She stood up and fixed her skirt, wary of the eyes that were following her and started to walk over. She had to be careful that no males touched her, after all...Don't need another accident- Before she even managed to get into the train, however, everything went black. And now....She was here. In a cage, arms and legs tied up and a gag in her mouth. God knows how long she'd been there, but she'd long given up screaming and demanding answers, no one really paid her haughty attitude any heed anymore.... ((I this alright? ^^ I wasn't sure how everything was going to go after she got captured, but I figured this is what would happen until the circus dude explained things. ^^)) |
Saiyuri and Lucia Rumeti, twins under the Gemini Constellation, sat in the upstairs of their mansion in Miyazaki upon a window-seat reading - Saiyuri reading a romance novel, Lucia reading a book of poetry. The middle window between them was wide open and a light sea breeze was blowing around them.
Sighing, Saiyuri stood up, setting the book down on the cushion she had been sitting on, and stretched. Walking over to the fireplace, she looked into the mirror above it and began pulling her long, raven locks into an intricate braided bun. When the bun was finished to Saiyuri's liking, she pinned a small hat upon her head that matched the chocolate Mary Magdalene Emanuel One-piece dress she wore, the colors accenting her honey colored eyes. Lucia, on the other hand, remained seated, having already tied the pink lace ribbon, that matched her pink Angelic Pretty Shoulder Ribbon Jumper Skirt and white stockings, each decorated with a pink silk ribbon upon the front, into her hair before she began reading her book. Although the girls were twins, they were quite opposites. Not only were their looks contrasting - Saiyuri with olive skin, Lucia with cream skin and sapphire eyes - but Lucia was the more refined and elegant twin while Saiyuri was more outgoing and a bit wackier in her fashions and persona. However, two things they were identical on, were 1. their way of dressing (Gothic Lolita) and 2. their view of the outside world. Sheltered from the world since an early age, the Italian Rumeti twins became socially inept and have grown to rely upon themselves for company. Now the age of seventeen, they are allowed to leave the grounds of their Estate, but are not allowed to roam far. They are only allowed to go into town with chaperons - all female, of course, to provide a safe environment and prevent the girls from accidentally being hugged and transforming into the tiny Gemini Zodiac Faeries they truly are. Due to these restrictions, the girls have begun a 'game' with the people of their city. When they see people being wretched, Saiyuri will make a harsh wind blow at them. When a piece of paper flies from someones hand, or a hat flies from their head, Lucia will slow the wind down and allow the people to catch their missing items. While walking at the beach or in the park, the girls will help kites to lift off, slow the winds so that the waves are gentle on the sea, as well as send a calm, gentle breeze to surround the people as they walk. These small things not only give the girls something to do, but it allows them to feel important and part of society. Today was like any other day for the twins, spending their time reading before heading to the park to simply breathe. As Saiyuri finished with her outfit, she turned to her sister, who had just set down her book and had walked over to Saiyuri. Without saying a word, the girls linked their fingers together and headed downstairs to put on their shoes while they waited for their guards to come and escort them to the park. |
The masses of depressing gray clouds collected over the German countryside his father, himself, the horses and the rest of the crew were staying. It didn't have the delicasies and comforts of a summer manor, but the collection of cottages would have to do. The wind pushed the youths gray-ish hair into his emerald eyes. His mouth sloped downward in a pouty frown. His father told him to remain out of the stables today. The horses were to be bred.
He pulled his lip up in disgust at being treated like a child. "Sexual Education father... It's taught to teens nowadays..." He pat the aged gray mare and mounted, nudging her forward along the white fence that marked the boundary of their land. Lucas' keen eyes watched the land on the other side of the fence. It wasn't that dangerous, nor did it belong to anyone. His mother just didn't want him venturing alone. He slowed the mare at the gate, giving a glare back towards the cottages. All the hired hands were busy, and his father was breeding his thorough-breds. Lucas grunted and led the mare out through the gate. Meanwhile, in a patch of forest near the Aredale settlement, a large horse stood with his head hanging low. His muscles quivered, threatening to let him fall. Gray sunlight broke through the leaves, causing his fur to shine like jewelry. The equine beast snorted as he slowly lowered himself into a bed of flowers that nuzzled and embraced him once he settled down. The horses nostrils flared as he attempted to catch his breath. He certainly was NOT a work animal. But the lashings stung, and kept him from slumber. The equine lifted its head, a long horn at the center of his brow, glittered into sight. The lashings slowly healed as his magick did its job. Now for rest... |
"Hey! Anthony! Hey! Wake up!"
Anthony grunted as someone roughly shook his shoulder. He lifted his head groggily, eyes still closed. "Who the...?" "Wake up!" Someone smacked him on the head. Anthony forced his eyes open, and glared at his offender. Red, his orange hair dancing as he leaned over Anthony, grinned. "'Bout time! I thought you'd died or something, man!" Red joked. He straightened up and walked out of his roommates bedroom, leaving the door open. He called back down the hall, "Don't do back to sleep! We've still got school for another day, y'know!" Anthony had already fallen asleep again. It was lucky that Red hadn't styed in the room. Very lucky. Anthony was breathing heavily, clutching his sides and squeazing his eyes shut. He was asleep, yes, but his body was trying to change. Change into what he really was. Since he'd been a kid, Anthony had had strange phases where he couldn't remember anything at all. But when he woke up from the daze, he'd be covered in mud and dirt. And sometimes blood. He always had these phases after he'd gone through a stressful day, had been really sick or been unwittingly hugged by his mother. Anthony had found out what he really was when he was ten: he'd suddenly been able to remember what he did in those blank hours of the day. And it wasn't something he liked at all. That day he'd chased down a young girl, and when he did, he sucked out her soul through the mouth. He'd been disgusted with himself ever since that day, and had never allowed himself to leave the house after what he'd done. Befriending Red had been pure chance. Anthony's parents had sent him to America to go to highschool, saying education was better or something. He didn't have the money to rent an on-campus apartment on his own, to he'd been forced to rent one with someone else: Red. Anthony's breathing finally slowed, and his body relaxed. But this didn't mean he was asleep. He'd lost the fight. His skin drained of colour, and his hair slowly changed for bluish- to inky-black. His eyes abruptly snapped open; they glowed red as blood. He glanced down the hall to where he could hear his roommate rummaging around, doing something. His mouth parted slightly, and breathed in Red's scent. He smelled almost exactly like her. So delicious... Something jerked in Anthony's head. NO!! Go somewhere else! Anywehre else! I won't let you touch anyone I know again! Anthony shook his head, trying to clear it of the strange voice that plagued him. But, he scuttled to the window and deftly opened it. He slipped out, and dropped silently to the ground. Another person would be found lifeless today, unharmed except that their soul was trapped in the belly of a vampire, unable to move on to heaven or hell for all eternity. |
Adeline stepped off the plane from France, taking a moment to fix her hair. Her outfit wasn't the best idea for traveling but she wasn't clued in on what was fashionable here. She was wearing knee-high black boots, the heels beginning to make Adeline's heels throb. Het jeans were a bit tighter then she'd like but the black turtleneck she was wearing had managed to keep her warm against the drafty airport air-conditioners.
Huddling into her sweater, Adeline made her way to baggage claim to pick up her bags. She'd been appalled when her head chef had advised her move, suggesting her to work at the new restuarnt here. Sighing, Adeline made her way outside to hail a taxi. The apartment complex wasn't nearly was good as they had made it seem. Her room was smaller and teh water pressure in the shower was poor. Think positively... Adeline told herself, not wanting to lose her temper though she found that she felt more saddened then angry. She picked up the small piece of mail that she had, seeing a flyer for a fair in town. A fair would be nice... Adeline mused. I'm wearing the wrong shoes but that can be fixed easily... She took a moment to reminise when she was younger, she had loved the fried bread dough. Maybe a pick me up was what she needed after all. Adeline moved to her suitcases in which she was currently depending on until the rest of her things could be flown to her new apartment. She found a pair of metallic flats and made her way out the door, fixing her hair in the mirror hanging in the hall. |
"Come on, the horses are waiting." A light brown haired man sighed as he waited for his younger companion to hurry up and get out of the tent. He hated leaving the two horses alone, for there were always horse thieves about. He nervously chewed on the stalk of grain he had in his mouth and shook the tent once more before heading off, "Fine I'm heading over to check on them." He grumbled when he didn't get a reply this time.
He walked over past the two tents and the camp fire to where the horses were grazing. He nickered softly to them as he drew closer to them, "Stormy, Damek, you guys okay?" He smiled and rubbed each horse's neck lovingly before feed them both an apple for a treat. The black horse with grey spots nipped at his hand for more treats, "No Stormy, no more." He gently scolded her while the roan looked around wondering where Jexir was. "She'll be around shortly." Will rubbed Damek's nose to calm him and looked behind him at the sound of footsteps, "Why are you dressed like that... Thought we were heading to the trails today..." "Nope, we need to get to town, we're almost out of supplies and you need to loosen up a bit. You've been working too much." Jaxir smiled and saddled Stormy. |
The room was silent but for the gentle ambient music playing as Xern stepped into Emi's office. He paused outside the room to regard the little person within who sat tall in her chair as she typed. Her violet eyes, hidden under a light strip of fabric, were focused on something unseen. Her platinum blonde hair was styled for efficiency and professionalism in a simple ponytail. Her outfit had been picked out by her maids that morning consisted of high quality but were kept simple in design. She would have been able to do anything, even be a fashion model if she hadn't been born with...
"Dinner time, Xern?" She asked, interrupting his thoughts. He cleared his throat, finding her ability to sense his presence just a bit uncanny at times. "Yes." He waited for her at the door, knowing that she would insist to walk the distance herself without aid. He knew that although she had a unique sixth sense about people, it had been heightened because she was born blinded. Her candidness about others' feelings often terrified some of the house servants so much that they refused to serve the girl. He knew she often said such things in order to help the individual, but it rarely helped. She preferred her dungeon-like office in the basement of the mansion since no one ever wandered there and she could focus on her research. "I'm done." She said as she stood, stretched and walked towards the door. She knew the exact number of steps to the door from her desk. As she neared the door, she felt a touch of sadness from Xern. She let it go without comment as he would always in someway pity her disability, but she was living the way that she wanted despite her disabilities. The only regret she had was the only moment that she was able to see. A miracle and tragedy in the same moment. She never wanted such a horrible incident to happen again and lived to avoid it. Together, they silently made their way to the dining room to join their parents for dinner. |
Blair took a deep breath before dismounting from her motorcycle seat and shoving her keys in her pocket. Removing her helmet, she took a moment to shake out her long, vibrant red hair before taking her guitar case from her back and undoing the latches. Pulling out her beloved dark red guitar and quickly tuning it, she sat herself down on the fountain in the middle of the walking intersection and began to play; not rocking out, but simply strumming.
"Silence greets me in the morning," she sang in her low, husky voice that people either hated or loved. "No loving arms around me... My day begins with a whispered 'How are you, my one and only?' Oh, I wish that I could see your face one last time before the rainfall..." As she played and sang with longing in her voice, Blair looked about, trying her best to catch people's eyes. Whenever she did, she'd make it seem like she was playing just for them. Sometimes it worked and they stopped in their tracks, returning her gaze, listening to her song. Other times they brushed off her stare without a thought and continued on their way. By the end of the song some money had appeared in the guitar case that lay open at her feet. Smiling at the man who had just thrown in a bill, she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before starting another, more lively song. "I should have warned you, darling, that I'm not so easy to confuse; you'll run circles all around me, but in the end it's you who is going to lose..." It was the start of another day wandering Scotland; cities, towns, forests, lakes. At the moment Blair was performing in a town that she and her father had passed through before; it was small, but held enough charm to make it a minor tourist attraction. She played for her supper, it was true; but she also played for the people she came across. Didn't everyone need a little music in their lives, a chance to stop and listen? That was what her father had taught her, at least. |
Rays of silver light danced over the boys eyes. His silver hair glittering quite magically. He wrinkled his nose as his ruby eyes fluttered open. What day was it, he wondered. With a frown, he rose from his bed of flowers, attempting to figure out if he had only slept a few hours, or an entire day. The youth glanced at his wrist, but growled at himself. Why did he expect to see a watch? A groan rose from his throat as he stretched, getting rid of the stiffness that ran through his body. He jumped as a twig cracked on the other side of the trees. Crouching low and remaining still, he moved only after nothing came. "I'm so jumpy..." he muttered to himself, disliking it.
The emerald eyed youth glared out onto the fields from the top of a hill. He could still see the settlement, though if any of his fathers hired hands were about, they wouldn't recognize him that far. He led the horse further away, to the other side of the hill. It annoyed him at what drove him onward. As if he expected to find some great discovery. Wouldn't that be grand... A creek ran along the bottom of the hill. Lucas dismounted, allowing his horse to drink. He stroked her sides then sat on the side of the creek. Something about today seemed special. But he hadn't found it yet. Maybe he was ill? Was it just in his head? Lucas groaned and layed back and stared at the depressing sky. |
It was a glorious June summer morning and the park was filled with mothers taking their children for walks. However, it was a bit stuffy and hot, so Lucia sent a gentle breeze through the park to prevent the children from growing cranky and hating the wonderful summer air.
As the girls strolled hand in hand, they had the strange feeling they were being watched. Shrugging it off as nothing, the girls continued strolling through the park - lifting kites, sending cool breezes to those who were warm, stopping to pick some wildflowers as they passed through the gardens. Even though Saiyuri and Lucia were surrounded by six women, who made a small circle around them and looked like the President's Secret Service, the people of the park paid them no attention, used to their daily walks after five years, and Saiyuri was still on edge. "Luc, let's go home.. Something doesn't feel right." Lucia, less in tune to the sinister forces, couldn't sense a thing and simply brushed Saiyuri off, "Sai, you're being silly. What could possibly go wrong on such a wonderful day as this?" Saiyuri shook her head, "Luc, I've got that feeling again.. like we're being watched by something.. evil. I think it's best if we go home.. I don't like it.." |
Adeline made her way to the fair, wondering aimlessly. She huddled in her sweater as a breeze picked up. I should have brought a coat... She chided herself quietly. Seeing a small food stand, Adeline went over to stand in the somewhat small line.
With her cotton candy in hand, Adeline continued to wander around the fair. She saw several carnies, asking shamelessly for her to play their fair games. Rolling her eyes at a clown in a dunking booth who was insulting everyone that walked by, Adeline took a piece of her cotton candy. It nearly dissolved on her tongue, a pleasent feeling. She was reminded of when she was younger at the fair with her parents. Sighing, Adeline moved on through the crowd. |
An unusual tent caught his eye. A sign promised him wonders and beasts, and unbelievable sights! Plus if he went in he could be alone as it was one at a time, for a fee of course. He walked up to the tent and payed the man at the entrance. He went on about the wonders and whatnot before opening the flap of canvas to let him inside.
He nodded politely, inwardly sighing at all the theatrics. some places a bit of show was good, but this man was definitely going over the top. Probably to try and diminish the fact that the tent was not in fact filled with such great wonders. Jori entered and let his eyes adjust to the dramatic lighting. The tent inside was bigger than he thought. There were a circle of different cages, a man stood in the middle, he held a whip and a strange lantern. He watched warily as Jori came closer. When the man made no move to speak to him, he tore his eyes away to look at the first cage. A motley bird was caged within it. it's feathers were bright and colorful in reds and yellows. It almost seemed to shimmer. a plaque described it as a "Phoenix." He doubted that such a thing was true, but it was a very pretty bird. He stepped a little to the right, out of the direct light to get a better view. He was so engrossed in his examination that he failed to hear another figure enter the tent. Too late he felt the bump of someone knocking into him in the dark. Arms tried to catch themselves, enclosing around him. Panic shot through him, He could not tell if it was a girl or boy who had befallen him until, they both fell in the patch of light of the man's lantern. He felt the change before he saw the girl. He cried out and tried to figure out what to do but his panic was overwhelming. Besides on dry land he was inhibited. he lay on the ground flailing trying to waddle his way back into a patch of dark while the girl got up mumbling an apology. He was able to roll himself in behind one of the cages, before the girl got a good look at him. He panted and looked down at himself. Instead of the two legs that had got him into this mess, he saw a pair of fins. A light flashed in front of his face, blinking he saw a terrible smile behind the light. The man who had stood in the center of the ring was looking upon him. His eyes filled with greed, hunger and an evil that was deeply rooted within the man's heart. Jori gulped, this could not be good..... |
Adeline sighed as she glanced around at the attractions, throwing the remaining cotton candy away. All of the booths were overdone, not at all worth the money the signs advertised. She passed by a tent promising exotic creatures, rolling her eyes dramatically. She highly doubted that anyone with actual rare species would be following around a carnival. Yet it was the most attractive looking thing here.
Sighing, Adeline paid the small fee before entering the tent. She head a thud and what sounded to her like a struggle. There was an odd presence from behind the wall that seperated her from the main attraction. It felt oddly familiar. Shaking her head at her craziness, Adeline peeked around the corner and saw a man standing with a greedy grin above what appeared like a helpless boy. Only the boy had a fin instead of legs. Strange... She pondered. It looked real enough, so why was he looking so afraid? |
"fine, we'll head to town, but we need to pack up real fast." Will told her as he led the horses towards the camp, then saw her expression, "What?"
"I already packed, just got to grab the bags." Jexir smiled and saddled up Stormy before climbing into the saddle. The horse sighed and shook her head playfully, turning her large head to nip at Jexir's pant leg for being late. "Looks like even Storm knows when you are being bad." Will chuckled and led the horse to the campsite, putting the packs on both of the horses' saddles before climbing up onto Damek's saddle and led the way to town. |
Dinner with her parents was the usual quiet affair that Emi was used to. Her mother tried to make polite conversation while her father completely ignored her. She didn't blame her father so much for his aversion to her; any affection that he might have show her would immediately put the whole family in danger. Once desert had been served, she thought it safe to finally bring up her plans for the next day, but she would need her parents' permission. "I wanted to go for a walk tomorrow," she hesitated just a moment to listen if she had their attention, only Xern was silently sitting across from her. "Outside." Before she had a chance in inhale, she could hear a spoon clattering on glass to her left, her mother. To her right, her father was as silent as Xern. At these times, she wished that she could see the expressions they all wore.
Her mother was the first to speak. "Emi, dear, are you sure that you understand what it is that you are asking?" Of course, she knew. The last time she had been outside the house was when she was born. The attending physician had been fortunate that she was a woman otherwise her fate would have ended much differently. It was after they had returned home, and her father held her for the first and last time that they realized the monster within her. The maid was cooing over how cute she was when she look into Emi's eyes and crumpled to the floor like a broken doll. The steward who took the babe to her cradle was too astonished by what had just happened to look into the child's eyes. Others that passed them on the way to the nursery, looking into the baby's eyes succumbed to her power and died where they stood. They were able to put together what had happened and since never looked into her eyes. "But if my eyes are covered, then it should not be a problem." "You put innocent lives at stake for your frivolity!" Her father snapped. He stood, saying, "That is the end of this discussion" before leaving the room. The room was silent. One of the maids killed in the incident had been one of her father's mistresses. |
Lucas turned his head down the creek, and sat up, eyeing a rather large Clydesdale. It hadn't seen them yet. The youth stood and krept towards the beast, eyeing it with great interest. He had never seen such a beautiful beast.
He was only a few feet away before it lifted its head, eyeing him somewhat fearfully, but more with curiousity. It's silver coat shimmered as it moved to face him, entirely aware of what a human could do, but stood in a powerful posture. "Easy now..." Lucas cooed, speaking gently. "Lucas!" a voice snapped, his father and a few of his hired hands came into view at the top of the hill. "A wild one? Or maybe it escaped..." one of the men said. Lucas' father spoke to the men. "Capture it... Take it to the stables." The men rode down, circling the Clydesdale, tossing ropes at it. Lucas turned to his father, angry at being caught. "Father!" His father eyed him angrily as well, emerald eyes met a dark brown, but both held a fire of anger. Aisslin paniced as the ropes went around his neck. He reared, and attempted to charge forward, but the ropes proved too tight. He calmed himself, remaining patient. He would always have another window to escape. His eyes remained on the boy though. Something about the lad frightened him. Something about the sly look in his eyes. He had been in his thatch of trees, but thirst proved too much for him. He had decided to appear as a silver Clydesdal, hiding his horn from sight. Aisslin lectured himself in his mind. He should have seen the youth. |
Sigh..
A puff of smoke escaped Yori's lips, courtesy of his cancer stick. People said they lowered life expectancy... But what could that hurt for someone whose lived for over a hundred years? Plus, his 3rd master smoked, and he was a nice man..always had ladies at his house... He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a shuffling inside the tent he was manning. Yeah, he was at the circus as well, not for sight seeing or enjoyment...he worked there. And trust me, circuses are definitely less fun when you're involved with them. After making sure his kitty cat ears were covered behind his beanie hat and his tail was snuggly in his pants, he ran over- and promptly started to drool. What...what was that smell? Oh, it was the merman, sprawled out on the floor. Hey, that was normal. He looked over at his mast...err...Employer and raised an eyebrow. Obviously not phased. Rare breed plus having the misfortune of being under this tent equaled... "Sir, shall I prepare a special water tank?" He fought the urge to get closer to the merman and nuzzle it like his favorite trout before mealtime... Tick tock tick tock Brandy had no idea how long it'd been. Hours? Days? A week? But she was still stuck in this damned place, like an animal. It was a barren room, with only a bed, a closet and no windows. She was dying slowly from being unable to feel fresh air, to feel any type of nature... They had mentioned something about an auction, and that was all she heard before having one of her tantrums about who her father was and his company, and how they'd pay through the nose for there insolence. But crap, they had broken her phone and dumped it in a garbage bin, and she really had no idea where she was now since she'd been blindfolded for nearly the whole time... What...if they didn't find her? She snapped again, letting out blood curdling scream after scream, punching the bed, throwing the blankets and pillows. The wind that she created swirled around, making her hair and clothes flutter until she was hoarse and all she could feel was raw, burning anger in her veins. And then she slumped back onto the bed, letting out dry sobs. This couldn't be happening...It's not fair...It's not fair... |
the circus master looked up.
"ah Yori, Yes, please do so and call in the man at the front, I'll need his muscle." It he gazed at the boy with such longing in his eyes. "You'll belong to me."He said, not having noticed the other girl in the shadows nearby. With a flare of a magician he pulled a scarf out of who knows where and gagged the boy. He didn't want his other customers to hear any screams. the boy was in much too much shock and fear to resist much. He took his whip and setting his lantern down bound his hands as well. "hurry boy!" the man snarled. It had been a while since he had changed, especially so abruptly. The shock of becoming half fish, plus the shock of discovery, then the shock of the evil leering man that frightened him to his core. There was something more than sinister about this man. When he looked into his eyes, he felt like a deer caught in the beam of headlights, unable to move. |
Anthony had phased back. He'd already removed the lifeless body he'd been looming over, had already sobbed over the soul he had taken, and was now heading for home. It was about midday, an unusually short time for him to have phased, and he knew he'd be safe at home. Red wasn't home, after all. He'd surely be at school by now.
Anthony was just turning a corner, the one that he always turned at when he was about to cross the street to his apartment, when he got a strange feeling. The feeling of being watched. He hesitated, one foot suspended over the gutter as he'd been about to cross the street. He glanced around. He couldn't see anything. He jumped back when a car whizzed past his outretched foot within a hair's breadth. Anthony shook himself; it had probably been nothing. He dismissed the feeling, and continued to cross the street. The feeling only got stronger, but he ignored it. There was no point getting worked up about nothing. |
Adeline frowned as the stranger hovered over the odd fish boy. Without thinking about it, Adeline felt the shiver go down her spine as the magic woke inside of her. She could hear her clothes ripping apart as they fell in shreds against the cold floor. Stepping out, loking like a slightly oversized wolf, Adeline growled fiercely at the circus man.
In one leap, Adeline positioned herself between the merboy and the man with the lantern with her lip curled above her teeth, exposing her sharp teeth. She let a low growl escape her lips as she crouched forward, defending the poor boy behind her. |
Xern stepped out into the orange painted streets of sunset, mulling over Emi's strange request. His little sister had never asked to leave the house before. Emi had told him about her "curse" the day that he had been discovered in the garden. The same day he decided to stop searching for his mother because he found someone who needed him more. He remembered the day he met Emi and the Aire family. It had been raining, but he had found a dry tool shed. Thinking no one would be utilizing the shed on a rainy day, he allowed his heavy eyelids to droop until he was fast asleep. The next theing he knew, someone had him by the collar and was dragging him through a big house.
Emi sat in her room, listening to a book on tape when her mother brought a scrawny and dirty boy into her room, demanding to know how she knew he was there. The little girl, pulled off her headphones and turned her face in the direction of her mother's accusing voice. She tired to imagine that she was looking at her mother in the eye, threatening her, silently. Emi hated to be questioned for something that she just knew. If this ability to sense others was part of the curse, why would her mother be so upset? Her mother deposited the boy on the floor and left the room, her heels pounding on the hardwood floor in frustration. Emi knew that she had won the battle, but the real war was with her father. Her mother may gripe, but her father had the final say about everything in the house. He covered his head with his hands, afraid of what would happen to him. Xern had only wanted to hide until the police wouldn't be looking for him; then he could leave town and seek out his mother. Surely, she was waiting for him. But his stomach felt like a roaring beast, awakened by the smells coming from the kitchen. The woman who had just left was probably on the phone right now with the constable, asking him to come here immediately and take him away. Emi put away the book she had been listening to and walked across her room, slowly until she came to the huddled mass that laid in the center of it. She put her hand on his back and knelt down next to him. She could feel his fear as if it were her own. "You don't have to hide anymore." |
Finally agreeing to go home, Lucia and Saiyuri headed back to their estate, Saiyuri glancing behind her every once in awhile as they neared their home. Once back behind the gates, feeling safer, Saiyuri led Lucia back into the house as she whispered, "Luc, I don't think we should go back out for awhile.. Something's strange about the city right now.. Let's give it a few days and see what happens okay?"
Taking off her shoes, Lucia nodded, "If that is what you wish Sai, we won't go out for awhile. What say you we get something to eat?" Saiyuri smiled as she took off her shoes and took Lucia's hand, "Sure! What are you in the mood for?" "I'm craving chocolate chip cookies, what about you?" "Sounds good to me, especially since we can eat as much dough as we want!" added Saiyuri with a chuckle as they headed for the kitchen. |
