@Eve: No one sucks at art

I agree;)

Astrelle 08-10-2009 12:47 AM

A was talking to someone who gave me a good hint when drawing hands. I just don't know how to explain it to everyone. T_T but it really helps. It's like... you make a box that shows the palm... and then another box equally as long for the fingers because your fingers are about as long as your palm.

Then you can break down the box that is the fingers. It works for me... I've been trying perspective as of late.

iFungi 08-10-2009 12:49 AM

I cant wait to see Ponyo, I am a big fan of Miyazaki

Astrelle 08-10-2009 12:51 AM

Same! Miyazaki movies have really good animation and beauuutiful scenery. My favorite is the field with all the pink flowers Howl takes Sophie to in Howl's Moving Castle. Anyone else have a favorite?

Jeannesha 08-10-2009 12:51 AM

I would love to learn to draw. I'd like to take lessons, but can't find anyplace to teach me.

Astrelle 08-10-2009 12:54 AM

Jaennesha - I think the best way to learn is just draw lots of things. ...lots and lots of things. Get a BIG sketchbook and some charcoal and draw a pile of stuff. Like... try to find the ways the objects interact.

That's most of what drawing classes are anyway...

Astrelle + Howl's is beautiful, but I'm still in love with Spirited Away. It stole my heart ... ~

* Hey, could someone tell me if you can change your screen name? I wouldn't realize how much the spaces would bother me.

iFungi 08-10-2009 01:00 AM

Idk I have every movie he made. But I really like howl's moving castle and Castle in the sky.

Astrelle 08-10-2009 01:02 AM

Oh wow, I can't even count how many times I've seen Castle in the sky. >_o His movies just take you somewhere new... it's so refreshing! And now that I'm thinking about it, I should see Kiki's Delivery Service again, I haven't seen that in years.

Last time we tried to watch it we noticed the CD was broken. ;_;

vulpi4 08-10-2009 01:02 AM

hi astre!
Hey does anyone know what stars nai wuz talking bout?

iFungi 08-10-2009 01:05 AM

I watched kiki like a month ago. But I think its time for me to get out spirited away. I havn't seen that in a while. But Nassucaa too.

Jeannesha 08-10-2009 01:07 AM

Astrelle, I know. You only learn by repetition. It's a good idea to start with charcoal. I should do that.

Astrelle 08-10-2009 01:08 AM

I've only seen Nassica or however you spell it once. I think I need to aquire them all. The only one I actually own is HMC.

Vulpi - Someone was talking about stars? o_0

iFungi 08-10-2009 01:10 AM

Well, I like Princess Mononoke too but I don't think it is by him.

vulpi4 08-10-2009 01:13 AM

@astre: yea
well Naussicaa, prince Monoke and spirited away are online

(or however you spell them)

Astrelle 08-10-2009 01:13 AM

Wait... isn't Princess Mononoke by him? o_0 Did I miss something?

Jeannesha - If you're having problems making the first mark one of my drawing teachers said to make a light layer of charcoal. This way you don't feel as weird about making mistakes.

And if you start feeling more comfortable drawing objects asking if you can draw a family member while they're reading or watching tv always works. =3

iFungi 08-10-2009 01:15 AM

IS it by him. I am unsure.

Astrelle 08-10-2009 01:17 AM

It is. I was just at a convention with someone cosplaying San, and everyone was like "a Miyazaki cosplayer!!!" I was just wondering if I missed something. ^^; She had a good costume too.
