The Craze. I don't get it.
Twitter. I really don't get it. I created an account [of course I've already forgotten my username and password...] but while I was using it, I couldn't understand what was so addicting about it. All it is, is people updating status' right? Or have I missed something? Discuss: -What is it? -Do you "Tweet" often -If you're addicted, why? |
I guess some people really enjoy letting everyone know what they're up to...At every single waking minute.
|
I do not 'Tweet' since I see no purpose in the websites existence at all. If you want to know what I'm doing, call me. If you have to know a play-by-play of my daily status, stalk me. Seriously, it's the most useless site ever. >>;
|
I have to admit I don't really get it, either. I tried it for a while, even managed to occasionally tweet something into the vast expanses of the interwebs, but I grew bored of it really fast. I like to "stalk" people online (in other words, I DO enjoy reading about the daily lives of my friends), but thanks to the limited amount of information fitting into those mini-messages, even that was incredibly boring.
Also, and that's what made me give facebook another chance, even though to me that's a somewhat strange kind of "community", with facebook at least you kind of have a nice overview - comment "threads" to each of your posts, the ability to link to older messages, etc. With twitter, replies to other people's messages seem purely random to other members, and following an actual conversation is hell. |
I've had a Twitter for awhile, but I really never use it. I don't get the point of the site at all.
It's supposed to be aimed towards the adult community, who want to connect, but without all the fuss of applications and the like. Personally, my social networking site of choice is Facebook. It's less cluttered than MySpace, and more organized than Twitter. But that's just me. |

Same with me. But lately I've kind of drifted away from Facebook and latched onto Roliana and Menewsha. :] |

I have a Twitter account that sits unused as well... I understand why some people like it, but people don't need to know what I'm doing at every minute of the day. That, and my life just isn't that interesting. XP

I joined this site sometime last year, but then got bored since I wasn't doing anything. But now I'm back and I like it since I have a couple topics started as well as RPs. :] And over 7000g in items in my shopping cart that I want. I can't ever get a credit card. I'll go into debt so fast. xD |
I stand by my notion that the only people who actually care about what you write in your Twitter are STALKERS. Seriously, why would I want to know what you're having for dinner, or that you're showering? It's pointless.
|
I made a twitter, i don't actually use it, i just made it to see how much customisation can be done for the menewsha one before making it xD;
I don't get the craze either, but whatever floats peoples boats lol :P |
I guess I'm pretty behind on the times, since I just recently made one to follow Menewsha updates; I don't really use it to update about my every move, but I think the text alerts are pretty useful.
When I went out of town, I could still hold a conversation with my Menewsha friends without having access to a computer, or giving out my personal phone number, by using the direct message function and having them sent to my phone. :) |
I absolutely love Twitter and use it pretty much all the time. It's great for networking with others of similar interest or occupation, as well as just for keeping up with friends. I'm easier to catch on Twitter than anywhere else on the internet, actually. Probably because I get tweets sent right to my cell phone, no matter where I'm located.

Though I think you can do the same on facebook - not sure right now, since I'm always happy about my cellphone NOT ringing all day long. ;) |
@Nalah: Yeah, but I really dislike Facebook :/ I mean, I've got an account, but I mostly ignore it :sweat:
But yeah, it's really helped more people learn about my blog and have introduced me to new blogs, as well as helping me reach out to my readers. It's awesome :D |
I guess it really depends on taste and circumstances. Good thing we have Mene as a common plattform, though! :D :glomp:
(Btw, looked it up for those using facebook - you can actually receive notifications on your mobile. I myself will just stay away from that feature as far as I can, since my cell phone is more active than I would relly want it to be, anyway. :sweat: ) |
I honestly don't get it either.
The only reason I follow twitter is to follow some celebrities I like. I don't really use it for personal statuses. I use facebook for that. FB is more fun too, in my opinion. More options for stuff to do. :) |
I have never had a twitter and I refuse to get one. It seems pointless to sit there say "I am going to the bathroom now," or "I am putting product in my hair." It is a bit stalkerish as well.
|
I don't use it either, even if I tried to use it I think I would get pretty bored with it. I don't care what people are constantly doing just as I don't expect them to care or want to know everything I am doing.
|
I've had one for a while, but I forget to use it a lot.
|
In my opinion, the only thing Twitter is good for is for those Verizon commercials.
Dad:"I..am..sitting..on..the..patio." Son: "Dad, I know you're sitting on the patio." Dad: *chuckles* I like comics and commercials about Twitter. I think it'd be almost impossible for me to Tweet. Boring. |
I have Twitter, and I like it. :) I'm not on it 24/7 but it's cool to get updates from friends and celebs that I follow. Some people ask me why I don't just use the status thing from Facebook but it's different. I mostly use my Twitter to post silly things like "just ate the best burger ever", "yippee, bought a pretty dress for half price" or "a cute guy just asked me out but I turned him down because he's wearing an Ed Hardy shirt" - things that not everyone will want to know. If you're following me on Twitter or just reading my tweets, I assume you're somewhat interested in the more silly, mundane or pointless aspects of my day-to-day life. I don't want to subject my Facebook friends to that because that's not what they signed up for when they added me as a friend. XD |
I don't understand twitter. At least with facebook, you can privatly tell your friends about something, join groups, and take quizzes, and play games.On Twitter you... "tweet". WTF? I'm not a bird...
