What is your LEAST favorite book?
I think mine would be "Speak".
Most of my friends say its a wonderful and tragic story. I for one, didn't find it that interesting. Sadly, I had to read it for school...I fell asleep many times.. So what about you? |
Twilight.

Least favourite would be Twilight for a lot of reasons primarily based on weak character development, plot holes and rather anti-climatic. A lot of the characters definately felt a little two dimensional to me with very little depth. While it can essentially be seen as a 'fun' read in a guilty pleasure kind of way, it's definately not a book I generally recommend to friends or family looking for something to bite into.

I can't stand Twilight, but even worse I would have to say is Huck Finn, mainly because I can't stand the way Mark Twain decided to write the novel. Nobody, honestly, speaks that atrociously.
|
I'm reading Huck Finn right now...I can't stand the grammer, it makes me want to bang my head on something.
But what's worse is The Great Gatsby. It so...boring. |
I'm going to have to throw Wuthering Heights into the pile of worst books ever to plague the planet. I've never cared too much for Victorian novels, but this one really takes the prize for obnoxious.
|
Moby Dick. When an author uses up a page and a half to explain his own color symbolism, that author needs to get the hose. It didn't help matters that I had already read The Sea Wolf, which was basically the same story with better pacing and more interesting characters. (Granted, The Sea Wolf was only mediocre, but still.)

My least favorite book? Well. Of course it's going to be one of the many books i read in school. All of those always seem to put me to sleep. We had to read an Australian book called The Sharknet. (I live in Australia). And i never finished reading it. Even though it was for an English class, And i usually aim for at least B grades. That book was just terrible. I only read about 1/4 of the whole thing. Apparently not long after i stopped in the book there was supposed to be about 9 pages where this guy talks about rubber and nothing else. He's a nutter about tyres. D= Worst thing i ever read. I still have it sitting around in my books somewhere..I think i'll go burn it..... |
twilight all the way cause well it sucks XD i mean how does a vampire sparkel
|
I really dislike Twilight. Stephanie Meyer writes like a twelve-year old fangirl. She uses way too many cliches. Cliches can enhance the plot, they shouldn't be the plot.
Also, she has seriously messed up of what a vampire is. yes, you could say her ideas are original, to have sparkling vampires and all of that crap, but that is just taking it so far. Mainly, Bella loves Edward because he is 'pretty', and Edward loves Bella because she smells good. Yum. Oh, and did you know that when you drink animals blood, that does NOT make you a VEGETARIAN? Just to let y'know...Stephanie must support animals abuse. Also, she does things like pedophilia in her books, which is even more disgusting. I highly dislike that book, and those are my reasons why. I have many more reasons, but are too lazt to post them. Good day to you all. *rant done* |
I can't not stand Beloved by Tori Morrison or Walden by Henry David Thoreau. God, Walden made me want to paper cut my eyeballs so I wouldn't have to read it anymore.
|
I just started reading Twilight for a second time. The first time, I have to admit that I actually liked it...now that I read it over again, I see where it's really nothing but a korny love story with a terrible Mary Sue. As stated by others, there is hardly any character developement.
Worst line in the book:: Quote:
I also dislike The Hatchet. Dreadful and boring all in one. |
Twilight. My friends like it so I had a look at some of the passages on the internet and they really are rubbish! A vampire that sparkles, seriously!
|
Twilight (too!) because I hate the writer's style, and I'm just not into romance (and emo...) stuff. It's way too overrated!
Hah, I can see that many of you hate it too. Yey! I'm not alone! It's so annoying when all my friends are talking about it and how "CUTEEEE!!!" that Edward is in the movie. He only has one face! He's terrible! :D |
Oh my god, there are a lot of people who hate Twilight... YES! There is sanity left after all! (thank god! <3)
Like what most people had said, I hate Twilight... in fact, the whole series. Why do I say this? Allow me to put my two cents in; The whole story is basically Meyer's dream world. Bella is Meyer's self inserted mary sue who goes to Forks and she didn't want to go to in the first place, but goes anyway. Then when she goes to her new school, EVERYONE seems to know who she is and likes her. Then here comes Mr. "Do I dazzle you?" and has taken a stalkish interest in Bella, also let me clarify that Edward is a gary-stu because he defies all of the weaknesses that vampires usually have. (Also note that Bella and Edward's relationship is abusive, Edward is demmanding and abusive to Bella). And basically through the whole story Bella and Edward distance themselves and then come back together again and then distance and etc. Oh, and then vampires play baseball, Edward sparkling in the sunlight instead of burning, and then Bella's mom gets kidnapped and Edward kills a vampire with his "incredible" strength. The plot itself is very flawed, so many plot holes that it's almost like there isn't a plot at all. All of the characters are completly shallow. Not only that, but Meyer's writting is terrible, it's not really captivating or "appealing to the eye". I guess the only thing that keeps a person reading this... "book"... is that they want to lose themselves in a poorly written fanfiction, as if it was written by someone who's failing their liteature class and wish that they can be saved by some heroic and handsome man. Unfortunatly, some girls take this book too seriously... and what I am sad to say, they truly believe that vampires exist and they treat the book as if it were the Bible. But all together, this is the worst book that I have ever read... and I don't think it deserved to get the fandom it somehow got over night. |
TWILIGHT.
|
My least favorite book... It would be The Giver It might be a good book, but I can't tell or care. The book depresses and infuriates me. I read it a few years ago and my life changed in a bad way.
|
It's interesting to go through here and find books that I DO like. I adored Wuthering Heights; all the characters were so evil to one another. I didn't hate the Hatchet, it just depressed me. The Giver was another one I quite liked, depressing, but I was glad my teacher had me read it.
And while I hated some of the characters in the Great Gatsby -cough-Daisy-cough-, I didn't hate the book itself. I wish I could say I hated Twilight. But I couldn't, wouldn't, bother myself to get past ten pages just to say that I hated it. I feel like a terrible person for saying this, but I hated A Tale of Two Cities. All of the side characters were okay, I guess, but why Dickins decided to make a self-insert and his ideal woman the main characters are beyond me. The man was a genius (I absolutly adored Great Expectations), but this book must have been born of some kind of personal turmoil that just did not translate well into the written word. |
Pretties. They keep repeating the word "bubbly" and "bogus".It's SO annoying. And Tally's so retarded. She betrayed the people at the Smoke just so she could be pretty.I also don't like Twilight. There's very little action and too much description.Plus I'm not really into romance. The book is so corny.
@BruceLinder: The Giver was a good book.:( |
I don't hate Twilight, but I do dislike it for many of the reasons you've all stated. But to be fair on Stephanie's part, it was no better than half of the stuff some of us wrote about on fanfiction, or secretly we were writing on our computers thinking we were teen author prodigies. Then we end up realizing how foolish we were typing it.
Trust me, I would rather Twilight on the shelves than that extremely illiterate Harry Potter fanfiction My Immortal (if you care to read it...google it. I'd end up laughing my butt off reading it); the author of My Immortal changed Harry Potter's name to Vampire in such a 'goffick' way (you'll get what I mean when you read it). But on another note, I actually did not enjoy reading Catcher in the Rye...is it me or did he just spend the whole time angsting about life in general? |
For me, I really didnt like the book "Tuck Everlasting". It just seemed to me like another love story where a man and a woman meet unexpectedly and then at the end need to be separated because of destiny? Seriously.
I also didn't like the book because of how long it seems, when it isn't very long at all. AND I rally cant say anything about "Twilight" because I haven't read it XD |
Things Fall Apart. It wasn't like it was badly written or anything. It was just bloody boring and I had a difficult time following what was going on. Also, the ending, it made me want to rip up my book and scream "I spend two months of my life on this damn book".
