hello everyone

I went to a tech school to be a paralegal for a year. It wasn't math intensive for me :) Quote:

@Chan: Paralegal doesn't sound bad except for what I'd bet would be intensive research papers with notations. I'd love to do medical transcription. That would be right up my alley, but I didn't see anything that was specific on that. Maybe it's included in another course or something like that. I'm good at troubleshooting things as well. I really hate the idea of school. I'd actually rather just have a job in a factory or another simple place that doesn't require much schooling. I can work well with people, I just prefer not to at this point. I could probably deal with percentages, and other simple things, but algebra, geometry and beyond are just that-beyond me.
Hello to everyone else that joined us! We're doing pretty good at keeping our thread killer thread alive here! |

I'd think accounting would be lots of match, as that's what you do is deal with numbers, but you could be right that it's more a matter of certain formulas. But the problem there is still numbers. One of my issues is that it's so easy to think one number and write another. I've actually seen certain places have something specific for medical transcription before. I used to really want to do nursing, but again, it's the math. No matter how many times over the years I've looked into schooling for something, it always comes back to the medical transcription. I love to type and I love medical things and would be good with the terminology. I just need to get on the ball if I'm ever going to do it.
You can do it though! I believe in you! Staying on the ball is fine once you get up there! :D Not in terms of actual ball rolling, but you know, job getting and stuff. XD
I'm just really lazy at the thought of school. I hated it so much when I was young.
It's so much better once you're studying the things you actually WANT to study, what you're actually interested in.
Mind you, I was also a keener in school as a child too. I'm still such a big nerd. I go to school and classes and go OMG learning!! XDD It's fun. I still hate homework though. |
Yes, it's really good when it's something you like or can relate to. I always hated school. And don't even get me started on homework. Even as an adult and mom, I don't believe in it except for certain things.
I hate homework, but unfortunately doing it last night helped me understand what the professor was talking about. XD I don't want to be converted!
I don't believe in pointless homework. I believe that doing readings and assignments for marks is good, but a whole bunch of 'do this because I said so' work that doesn't help you to learn is no good.
The only homework I can agree with are things like book reports, reading, and such. Things like a page of math problems, answering the questions at the end of the chapter, etc, nope. That's the kind of thing you should do in class. Have the teacher teach, give his lecture, whatever, and do the work.

The problems could be done in class and graded as classwork and still have the same effect of bringing a grade up. I just don't like homework, and most definitely not to the degree I see being given out to kids today. When they are in school, they are there to learn. When they are at home, it is homelife, with whatever that entails that the parents choose to allow. Thankfully, none of my kids so far have had a lot of it. While the older two were in, they always managed to get most of it done during regular school hours. My youngest finally learned that secret as well. I hate projects, too. Group projects totally suck. Ok, ok, let's just say it-I HATE school period.
Groups projects are a pain in the butt because you have to rely on people who don't put the project as a priority, which is total failsauce. There is always a shitty group member. Always.
Exactly (in regards to group projects). I don't want to rely on anyone. There is always the option of doing the entire thing yourself, but if I knew I was doing a bang up job, I certainly wouldn't want anyone else getting credit for it. I understand that it's to help you learn to work with others, but screw that!
Lol, I know that you have to work with others eventually, but in the real world, hopefully you can complain and get their butts fired. Not always, but at least you can cling to that hope! In school you'll be lucky if you can even get them out of your group, or get them to be evaluated for doing less of the work!
Yeah, the teachers know who works and who doesn't. I think they could at least put all the lazy butts together. That would teach them.
No kidding! But no, they always divide them out and intersperse them with the hardworking people, because apparently THEIR life lesson is how to get a free ride. >>
Also, I think the teacher really wouldn't want to mark the horrid ball of infestation that the group in question would produce. It would be too unspeakable to even look at. |
How is everyone doing?
I'm doing okay. I kind of am staying up late because I don't want to face reality and do work right now. ><;;
Doing pretty good on this end. Staying busy around the house and in the yard. How about you, Chan?

Being tired from good, honest, hard work of sorts is never a bad thing.

I don't even know what you mean by a "Thread Killer"? Does it mean no one answers the threads you make?
