Mike the Headless Chicken..

Anyone else hear about this before?

Mike the Headless Chicken (April 1945 – March 1947), also known as Miracle Mike, was a Wyandotte rooster that lived for 18 months after its head had been mostly cut off.

That's horrible. The poor thing should have been put out of his misery right after he missed!

That's NOT a miracle!

Clyvia 08-04-2009 12:32 AM

Oh jeeze. o___o
Thats freaking crazy!

Darkeyes 08-04-2009 12:37 AM

I seriously wouldn't know what to do if a headless animal came up to me and gurgled..

Akasha 08-04-2009 01:10 AM

o.0
Freaky...
I feel bad for it though.

Bane Rie 08-04-2009 01:54 AM

Oh yeah... THAT chicken.

Seeing the stuff for it at the Ripley's Museum in Ocean City always made me cringe. And the only other thing that could was the shark exhibit.

There is no way that's true.

1.) the chicken would have bleed because of a major artery going to the head had to have been severed.

2.) There where animal cruity laws in act at the time that chicken supposedly lived. the owner would have been arrested and the chicken put out of it's misery.

EDIT: Oops, I thougth that said 1974 - switched the numbes in my head

Oscar the Wild 08-04-2009 03:00 AM

Oh, that poor chicken. How is that even possible, anyway?

According to the Wikipedia entry, the chicken lived due to a combination of a very particular severing, and a blood clod that prevented it from bleeding to death.
Having grown up near people with Chickens, I'm assuming the story is true simply from experience- Chickens aren't exactly the most complex of creatures.

I seriously wouldn't know what to do. I'd spend a minute just trying to figure out if I should defend myself, if I should run, or if I should look around for more zombies.. either way, I'd beat it with a chair if it started coming at me.. unless it was like, a headless bear. Then I'd run very far, very fast.

Never been to a Ripley's Museum.. I've heard they're..quite the experience.

It's offical. I'm going to have nightmares now.

Everlasting Nightmare 08-04-2009 05:16 AM

I heard of that one, still freaky.

Darkeyes 08-04-2009 06:26 AM

It's like the last two accounts were created just as oblique methods of responding to this topic..

Nah, a true nightmare would be headless, gurgling pedo or rape bears. Which totally brings Pyramid-head to mind..

Nice two-step deviation from referencing Amalgam, Everlasting Nightmare.

Awww. Poor chicken. ;____;
There was a time when chickens were my favorite animals.
I settle for llamas now.

Reggie 08-04-2009 07:13 AM

Wow, I feel sad for the little bugger. I know I wouldn't want to live with no head. God, how did he even think. No Brain, How was he even alive. THAT FREAKING CREEPY!

Antagonist 08-04-2009 11:35 AM

Poor Mike D:
I love chickens, used to have a pet rooster myself by the name of Fowl Wing.
While Mike is a living miracle...I wouldn't want anyone to have to live through that, healthy or not. Just because he was a chicken and not a human doesn't make it any less nasty. Even his corpse was violated by having his head eaten by a dog :(
