Leonard did the same, and when she looked at her in the dim light of candles, all he could say was an extremely indifferent "Good-night."

A terrible thought could have a terribly long career.

He pushed one hand on his face, as if to distract him from the noise that wasn't there, and he walked up the stairs to his room. He locked the door behind him, and that was the end of his evening.

Paige walked into her own room and half collapsed on the bed and was soon asleep

Leonard spent the remainder of his evening holding his head between his two massive hands and talking to himself. Needless to say, he didn't get much sleep. He would doze off for a few minutes, only to be awoken once more by the voice inside his head. Regardless, he was up as soon as the sun was: a habit that he had acquired as a young boy and became useful in his short time working as a gardener for Jordan. Unfortunately, his old habits and recent mental state did not mesh well, and he wandered down the stairs of the inn wearing the same dirt-covered black jeans he had arrived in, wearing the same tattered tan trench coat.

For now, the voice in his head had subsided, which was good. It was time to at least pose as normal while he had the opportunity.

He came down the stairs and looked to see if there was anyone else around.

Paige thought she heard movement downstairs yawning she got up, she was wearing a long t-shirt, she managed to get out of her room with no problem but almost fell down the stairs.

Leonard spun around, jumpier from his lack of sleep more than anything. In his current state, he would have expected anything. He was... slightly paranoid. When he saw what had made the noise, he eased and let out a sigh of relief. "Are you alright, Miss Paige?"

Paige yawned, "You can just call me Paige ya know, but im fine"

Leonard knelt down and offered her his hand again. "You fall often, don't you," he said. "Or is it that you are always tired?"

"I dont sleep alot, so yeah i guess im always tired" she yawned again.

"Is there any particular reason that you don't sleep well?" With his own experiences, a lack of sleep meant... something deeper. Always something deeper. "Are you worried about something?"

"No but when i sleep i have nightmares about the night my parents were killed" she looked down, "and i dont like seeing that over and over again so i keep myself awake"

"I see," he said, wondering how hard it must be to live with a memory such as that. "You must have been through quite a lot. Would you like to talk about it over coffee," he asked, motioning towards the bar. He needed caffeine of some kind. At least until he could try sleep again.

"sure why not" she smiled sleepily.

He led the sleepy cat-person to the bar, ordered two cups of coffee and one newspaper. As soon as they both had their drinks and he had paid the bartender, he turned to her with one hand resting on his copy of the newspaper. "Now, tell me about these nightmares you have," he said finally.

"Well my parents were killed by a vampire, and no he didnt turn them, he...he...ripped off their heads and ripped apart their bodies, he turned me so im half and half, im no longer human anymore" she bared her fangs to prove her story.

Leonard tilted his head, not entirely comprehending her story. He sighed. "I have never... encountered a vampire," he said. "I do not know all the ins and outs of vampirism, but it does seem like a lot of unnecessary violence. Rude, even..." He took a sip of his coffee.

Paige looked up, "its hard, part feline part vampire, i dont fully understand how it happened but i guess im one of a kind"

"Well, certainly," he said. "Everyone is one-of-a-kind." He took another sip of his coffee. "It may not be everyday that you see a feline vampire, but its not everyday you come across a... well..." He struggled to find a proper word to describe himself. After last night's little episode, there were few words he could think of that didn't involve 'raving lunatic.' He finally settled on something, after some time of thought. "Not everyday you come across a Son of the Sky," he said, letting his eyes fall back down to the copy of today's newspaper.

Paige tipped her head, "Yeah i suppose your right" she looked around the bar.

As soon as she began looking around, so did Leonard realize that they were still alone in the bar. "Is it always this empty, or is today just a slow day," he asked, taking out a pen. He began skimming the newspaper, periodically circling choice words within articles.

"I supposed today is a slow day" she looked at him and then to the newspaper "what are you doing"

"Searching," he said, clicking the pen nervously. "I'm trying to find someone that's very hard to find." He shook his head, while circling the word "bootleg" in an article about a fire not far away.

"who?" Paige was very curious and she looked at Leonard closely then looked at the paper.

Why don't you tell her the truth, an indignant voice sneered in his head. I'm sure that'll go over REAL well with your new little vampire friend. He shook his head, dismissing the thought. He circled another word in the same article: "taverns."

"I'm... ah... looking for a friend that owes me something," he said.

"You can tell me you know, i wanna know" she looked at him hopefully

"Its a little difficult to explain," he said. He next underlined the word "pinstripe" in an article related to men's fashion.
