I like your name

Oleaceae 08-13-2009 05:09 PM

Lol, Goblin. ;p
I don't even know how to knit. ._.

Goblin Maiden 08-13-2009 05:12 PM

You should learn! It is a good way to wind down and you're doing something productive. ^__^ I've been in a knitting slump for the last couple of months, actually, but I do want to get back into it. =D I'm bringing all my yarn to college with me.

I'd love to learn.
Seems like a good hobby. :D

*crawls in* Hello? c:

Oleaceae 08-13-2009 05:20 PM

Hello, Archnasa.

Goblin Maiden 08-13-2009 05:22 PM

It is a very good hobby. Goes back AGES, to when it wasn't a hobby but a way of making a living. Pretty awesome to be carrying on a craft that's been around for centuries. ^__^

If you want, I can link you to some good learn-to-knit resources. I myself swear by YouTube, because seeing someone else doing it is really the best way to learn--at least, it is for me. =D

Jezriel 08-13-2009 05:24 PM

I like crochet myself, can never get my attempts at knitting to work. XD

codex1234 08-13-2009 05:27 PM

yes this is a cool event

Goblin Maiden 08-13-2009 05:27 PM

I had the HARDEST time learning how to crochet. It was only when I got on YouTube and searched for crocheting videos that I finally got it. XD

When I can afford the materials, maybe. x3

I have the handicap of being left-handed... so even when people try to show me how to do something it doesn't come out the same way for me. Crochet, I managed to learn from books. The first time I tried, I was attempting to make little rugs for my barbies... and they all turned into little bowls instead. So I wrangled them into bonnets for the barbies and gave up on crochet for a while. Next time I tried, I just went straight for a plain blanket, just stripes of different color. Worked out fine. I can't seem to do the ripple thing without it going off to one side and looking like crap, but anything with a nice simple repeating pattern I can do and make it look more complicated than it is. XD

Nanenna 08-13-2009 05:32 PM

I can crochet a little, I think it's a bit easier to learn than knitting because all it is is hooking yarn. I'm not really sure if I have the right ot say that though, I don't know the first thing about knitting. XD I like drawing to unwind though... let my creative juices go.

I got to sleep in until 9AM today! <3

ghostPastry 08-13-2009 05:33 PM

Hi there, Archnasa! ^_^

Oleaceae 08-13-2009 05:48 PM

I can't crochet either. Lol.

Nanenna 08-13-2009 05:49 PM

Am I weird that when I was shown how to crochet (simple stuff, mind you. The edging on a blanket, for example) that I just picked it up? It doesn't seem hard to me at all but other people seem to find it hard. :/

Goblin Maiden 08-13-2009 05:50 PM

Not very weird at all. ^__^ It's easy for some and harder for others. That's the way it is for everything, right?

Nanenna 08-13-2009 05:54 PM

I suppose it is... I hate that my brother was a natural talent for the piano but he didn't like to play and I wanted to play but had to work uphill for it. Doesn't it seem that way for a lot of things? *sighs*

Oleaceae 08-13-2009 05:55 PM

I don't have patience/the attention span for much.
:D
I don't think I'd ever be able to finish anything.
But I'd LOVE to make scarves.

Nanenna 08-13-2009 06:22 PM

Patience and attention span is my problem too, I tend to pick up new things easily when they're presented in a simple way, then when it gets more complex and harder to learn I'll lose interest and stop learning. XD

Lol, exactly.

Nanenna 08-13-2009 06:29 PM

Wow, is it usually this slow in the middle of the day. I guess this is what it's like when everyone else is at work. XD

Oleaceae 08-13-2009 06:35 PM

Yeah, it's slow.
It's going to start picking up, though.
That's how it goes.

Nanenna 08-13-2009 06:40 PM

People popping in for lunch, then vanishing until work lets out? Yeah, I'd expect as much. But it's fun to hang out in the mean time.

And forget Gaia's event, I tried and gave it a fair chance, but this is just too... ugh. -_- I don't even like the items.
