@Windy: It's a subgenre of science fiction, often set in the near future, with emphasis on advanced computer networking and typically biocybernetics - cybernetic enhancements or replacements for human body parts. Can be really fascinating stuff.
My absolute favorite series in the genre, the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime...the first season very explicitly revolves around Catcher in the Rye. With cybercrime. |D Could be a fun little supplement to the book. |
