Make up
I've never been able to put it on, and I've never really wanted to. I really don't think it's necessary. Yet, sometimes I feel like it's something I should know how to do. It's a bit ridiculous when you think about it. Someday I'll be a thirty year old woman and unable to put on make up. I feel like I should learn it now, but I really have no motivation to wear it in the first place.
Discuss: - What do you think about make up? - Are there occasions when one should wear make up? - Would it really be so ridiculous if I went through life not knowing how to do this? xD |
I only wear make up to work, and thats because its practically the dress code. When I was a teenager, I never left the house with less than a pound of junk on my face.
If you want to wear make up, my advice is this: Go with the natural colors of your skin. Try to highlight , not disguise yourself. It is easy to apply. If you don't like make up, don't wear it. It wouldn't be a tragedy if you ended up a thirty year old woman who didn't know how. Trust me, I'm a thirty-five year old woman, and I wish I had never started. |
Go with what you want/feel like. If you enjoy make up...fine, if not, fine.
I 'm 35 yrs. old and I hardly ever wear makeup . I don't know how to apply most of it and I don't feel it's a great loss. I recently go some tinted face moisterizer that I thought I'd try out and I have some tinted lip gloss I like. When you think about it, most men go through life without ever using make up. It's not a huge loss if you decide not to wear it. One important thing though about wearing make up, I would advise not to wear it continiously/non stop. When people used to ask what my grandma put on her face to look so good, she'd reply "nothing". Skin does need to breathe and get air circulation. so I believe that it needs regular breaks from make up. Your skin will suffer the consequences if you do not heed this. Becoming one of those people who never leaves the house without make up is probably not a good thing. |
I would lke to put on makeup, but my skin is sensitive and I have a bit of acne problem. If I try to cover it up, it becomes worse the next few days so I'm trying to make my skin clear up first.
Also I have Asian eyes and I can't put on eyeliner =_=;; my eyes literally eats the eyeliner :( |
I think makeup is okay as long as you don't like, slather it on and make it really dark and heavy, I think you should use make up to fit a natural look. I think that the occasions that someone should wear make up is for a dance, a reuinon or a wedding, for those kinds of things you want to look your best. Also if you don't know how to use make up by at least 25 or older...Then that is just sad....but then again maybe you don't need it.

Gross...I hate wearing makeup. What I hate most about it is the removal process. You spend all that time getting prettied up then you gotta remember to take it off before you go to bed. By that time I'm usually to tired to give a damn.
The only time I wear any amount of makeup would be to a formal event [like prom, graduation, a fancy dinner] where everybody dresses up and looks nice. But on a day-to-day basis...no. I don't wear it. Ever. It's a waste of time when I'm naturally gorgeous anyways. |
I have very sensitive skin so sadly I cant wear makeup. I enjoy messing around with lip glosses and eyeliner though. It's about the only thing that I can wear.

-Yeah.. I like to wear the mineral powder stuff to hide the bags under my eyes a bit and even out my complexion. I also like some eye makeup, even though I suck at applying it. xD -Naw, I don't think so. |
I've never felt wearing make up was a necessary. I wear a little eyeliner and lip gloss so I don't get made fun of at school or a little bit when I go out with friends.
Never could I wear all the blush and foundation and all that jazz. I don't have any idea how to put it on. |
I love to wear makeup. It makes me look better. I think special occasions-like a party, or a play-are the best times when someone should wear makeup. No, I don't think it'd be so ridiculous.

I can't stand make-up myself, though I'm a 16 year old high school girl. I feel like I should know how to use it, but honestly I only wear a bit of mascara when I go see my grandmother because she gets so excited about it. That's about it, maybe some lip gloss for a concert but other than that I veiw it as a mask that hides what you truly are and only clogs your pores and makes you want to cover up your face more and puts money in some creeps pockets who love to make women feel insecure and want to change themselves.
I also don't think it's weird to not know how to put it on, I mean, if you don't want to wear it, why would you need to know how to put it on? If anything, just watch a modeling show or something and get the tips and tricks. That's all I'll do anyway so I can teach my daughter (when I have one) if she decides to ever wear makeup. But, that's just me.=/ |
Usually I wear makeup every day, but it's not the heavy stuff. I put on a little bit of mascara and some blush. That's about it.
I don't really know how to put on all the other stuff, so you're not the only one. :) |
Well I'm 16 years old and am quite inept at applying any kind of makeup (eyeliner especially! I don't know how people could hold their eye open so still) I think sometimes I do regret that fact, and my mother isn't much of a help in that department. But then again considering I'm the type of person to wake up 40 minutes before school starts (and it makes 30 minutes to get there) maybe it's a good thing after all. I think that special occasions can benefit makeup, say a performance or recital but other than that is not absolutely necessary.

I love wearing makeup. It really helps to enhance the beauty I have already. And, believe it or not, it really affects how others think of you, male or female. It's good to wear during a job interview, as it can help you look more awake and fresh-faced. Of course, if you wear too much, it just looks terrible.

I personally don't care for make up unless its for a party or halloween XP |
I'm a strange teen that doesn't were makeup hardly at all. Sometimes for church or if I wear I really nice outfit. But I think its absolutly rediculous how some people make a mask of their face and obsess with cosmetics. Half the commercials these days are about somehow trying to look like someone else.

Make-up is over-rated. It is tedious and time-consuming, expensive to buy, not good for your skin (or your body when it absorbs all the chemicals) and is well, pointless, imho.
Needless to say, I don't wear it if it can at all be helped (the extremely rare wedding or something along those lines may find me putting on eyeliner but that's about it). I much prefer seeing a person's natural beauty, "warts and all", than to see three inches of gunk covering their faces. It won't scar you to not be able to put it on yourself. If you ever truly need to wear makeup, the make-up counters at the department stores, or at a hair salon, are more than willing to make you up for you (but be careful if you're not used to it for "sensitivities") |
- I don't absolutely need it but I like wearing it and have fun putting it on and looking nice in it.
- Yes I think you should wear it for special occasions (dates, weddings, birthdays, ect.) - Not ridiculous and its not that bad if you don't know how, thats what beauty parlors and make up artists are for lol |
For me, I wear make up almost every single school day. During the summer, I only wear it when I'm leaving the house. I usually wear just eye liner and flavored lipgloss (it's addicting). My mom bought me this eyeliner removing lotion and it works like a charm! Do any of you know any REALLY good acne treatment that you can just spot on? (spot treatments??)
|
I don't wear make up at all either, and have no idea how to put it on. I've tried before, but it's such a mess, and some of it is so hard to remove, it's really not worth it. I do believe sometimes it can come in handy, like an interview, if you have bags under your eyes, applying make up can make you seem more awake, meaning you have a better chance for the job. Special occasions, however, I don't think it's necessary, unless maybe it's your own wedding; but then you usually get someone else to put it on for you. And I really don't think it'd be sad to be 30-something and not know how to use it, because I probably won't by then either.

i for one loves women who know how to put make up on right, not just cake it on. but i have seen a girl who used a bunch of it and you couldnt even tell and she looked very good.

I think makeup is an unspoken requirement for job interviews and formal events. It's always a good skill to have. I started experimenting with makeup when I was twelve; no one really taught me since my mom doesn't wear makeup often. I used to wear a LOT of makeup in high school: foundation, powder, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lip gloss, sometimes blush and highlighter/a darker color to accentuate my cheekbones. O_O Luckily I knew how to apply it all tastefully, lol (for the most part -- some of my eyeshadow color choices were questionable). I'm eighteen now and all I wear regularly is liquid liner and lipgloss. I'm lazy and I use a waterproof eyeliner so it stays on perfectly for two or three days. :insane: I also use mascara and neutral-colored eyeshadow regularly. I like the natural look :) |
Im not a makeup addict, but I do wear it.
I recently started wearing foundation and mascara, before it was just Eyeliner. I dont hate it, but I dont think its necessary in order to look beautiful. Makeup hides your natural face. |
Personally I don't really care for it. Not really my thing. It involves alot of work. I think women/girls shouldn't wear so much though. Like its caked onto them and you can see them from a mile away. A small amount I think is nice. Then at least they don't look tramp. Alot of people put too much on and it is kinda disgusting. But these are my opinions.

I used to use some pretty intense makeup when I was really into Visual Kei/kodona.
Not so much now, but I still sometimes do it if I'm dressing for full effect. |
