Drawn Characters for a Potential Story, Needs Critiquing

About a month ago, I posted the first two chapters of a story I am writin in the literature forum and got very good feedback. Also, a month ago, I posted a full size version of the main female character. Today, I'm posting the main female and male characters, named Kira Soman and Vladimir Sterling. The way I have drawn them is sort of like a "school picture," if you will. All I'm asking for is some critiquing on the characters. Please ignore Kira's black eye-whites, for she is a vampire and they are supposed to be that way. The same goes for Vladimir, because he is also a vampire.

Thanks so much for any feedback you can give.

Hmm, some critiquing on the characters. Are you asking on how they look or how they're drawn?

Well, since you asked for it, I'll give you some critiquing.
I see you're going for the anime/manga style, ok, ya got the basics down, which is good.
Still could use some practice on the proportions of the face.
Kira's eye is to big for her face, well both of them seem to have eyes a little to large for their faces.
The hair is flat. You need to shade it, add shines and shadows. Their eye shines are also...off.
Study the way other anime/manga portraits look to get a better feel of it. But you got a really good start here, so keep up! ;D

Thank you so much! I'm not very good at shading, and I haven't decided at which angle the light is shining. I'm probably going to color these both in paint.NET and shading there is always easy. Thanks again!

Thanks so much! I'm going to try to post full-body pictures of them standing side-by-side, then you can kind of get a visual of how old and tall they are.

Ah, you're more then welcome! :D
Well you said that these were to be like an id photo from their school or what-not, so more then likely the light source(s) would be from the front either off to the left or right.

I like Vladimir's face, but I think the characters look a little too typical... and vampires are not very original either, maybe you could make your own race?
I think it's good that you make your own stories though, just don't make them too typical : x
