Candy's head is glued to Howdy's armpit. And Dragonqueen is just really good at lying.

I paid her several thousand dollars, then wiped her memory, then had a little boy steal them back for me, I then proceeded to pay him that money and did the same, except I played the role of the little boy...

So technically, she did get paid, she just doesn't remember it.
