So, my friend showed me this website that disgusted us SO badly. If you want to look, it's at the bottom. To sum it up though, it pretty much says the people who are retarded don't deserve to be treated like humans. They should be slaves or pets. It also says that they aren't human anyways, that they are demon spawn. This website was created by a Christian, which sickens me ever more, since I'm Christian.
I just can't understand why anyone would think this.

So what are your veiws on retarded people or people with mental disabilities?
Are they people?
Should they be allowed in society or made into slaves/pets?
What about the people who take care of them?

I personally think that they are no less human than you or I. I know a man who is retarded. His name is Jimmy. I've been friends with his family for years now. Jimmy is by no means a "demon spawn" and he isn't a pet or a slave. He is a part of that family, and is treated like it. The whole church loves him and treats him a member of the church. I see no reason why Jimmy, or any other handicapped person, should be treated any differently. Maybe treated with more care, but not of less value.

I'm more than certain that that website is a prank, much like bonsai kittens. The pictures that are used are obviously photoshopped.

Of course, the sad fact is that there are people who believe that garbage. Those are the people who need to take a look at themselves and really think about what they're doing with their lives.

I don't care if it was a joke, someone still took the time to write the whole thing out and that's just sick. Whether they actualyl believe it or not, it's wrong.

The entire website is just a joke. It's mocking Christianity, not retards. I think if you search the site, there's a disclaimer somewhere?

Those websites are parodies of a different website called godhatesfags.com which I don't recommend going to. It's the product of some deeply sick individuals who belong to Westboro Baptist Church. They have gone so far as to protest at funerals of gays, I believe they even protested at Matthew Shepard's funeral (a young man who was beaten to death for being gay).

I believe retarded people, though virtually less able that the vast majority, if treated in a way that fits them are able to be as productive. And their DNA is ultimate proof they're human. The guy I know, Jimmy, is certainly easier to deal with then most people. He's easily entertained (carries a tennis ball around with him that he plays with if he gets bored), is very sweet (shakes your hand and gives you a big hug when he sees you) and is very quiet. The only time he actually is loud is if he becomes upset. He even prayes in youth group ^ ^
I've noticed that he can be very clever at times, figuring things out that most people didn't think he would be able to. Getting into stuff, like your friend said. Noticing things that others don't.

You do have a point though. Diabetes and asthma doesn't makes sense. I didn't look at the entire site because I could barely stand to read halfway down the page. It still makes me sad that someone had the heart to say those things about they're fellow human beings.

I think they deserve respect and the best we can provide them.I feel when it comes to disabled peoples ( no matter what the disability), they should be treated as equally as possible.
That said yes, in practical terms, I do think some are treated like pets.
For someone with severe brain damage, they just cannot function like everyone else.
I've wondered, how do these people think?...How do they think different from "us"?.
Is it like when I'm extremely tired and cannot think as clearly?.

People who are retarded get the short end of the stick since they start life with brain damage, but others are not excluded, others can get brain damaged at any time.
I had heard the disabled is different from other minorities in that anyone, anytime can join.
So if you treat the disabled badly, one day you may be among them. Not that this is enough of a reason to treat other groups badly because you will never be one of them.

Why wouldnt they be? Just because they had some birth defect does not make them any different or worse than any other human. It's not like they had a choice.

My uncle got into a motorcycle crash, and has serious brain trama, because some stupid woman made an illegal u-turn. He was in the coma for a few months. I went to go see him in the hospital. He almost had no idea who my brother and I were. He had a large dent in his head and half his brain had been taken out. Now, he can't drive, he can't live by himself, he cant do anythnig really. Because he doesnt know how. But you know what, everyone still loves him the same.

I've worked with the mentally handicapped before. I spent a summer at the local Special Camp, where I worked with people who had cerebral palsy, autism, Downs, Prater-Willie, and even some schitzoid behavioral problems. I have to say... they are the closest to angels that I have ever seen.

The amount of inconsistency in his writing is very notable of this. He preaches that you should not judge with hipocrisy, and yet in the same article looks down upon Jews and then verbally smites the Nazis. He posts scripture that disproves his own points because, in his world, it DOES prove his point.

Also, I do not see a disclaimer. This one is not a parody. Its for real. -_-

On the topic of the Mentally challenged, I can't imagine someone who would go as far as to insult someone for a disability they aren't responsible for.
People, either guided by Religion or not, may tend to be like that.

i think that retarded people are just people that had malfunctions during development. they are in no way "demon spawn." on whether they should be isolated from society, i think it depends on the severity of their disease. if they have a social disorder, i think that there are ways to learn how to deal with it and be able to function just fine. if they have downs are something then it would be near impossible to function on their own in society.
