It's not out over here yet, but I really want to see it.

Tounin 08-30-2009 02:02 AM

Me and my friends probably would have gone to see it, but it's rated R and my friends's parents don't allow them to watch R movies.
I forgot what it was about, but I JUST remembered the preview for it! When my family went to go see Watchmen in theaters, they showed it.
"What do you want?"
"To go home."
AHHHH, HELL! I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE THAT!

Fabby 08-30-2009 04:55 AM

They were already showing District 9 previews in Watchmen?
Wow. o_o That came out... a long, long time ago. I just started seeing previews for it when they came on TV.

Tounin 08-30-2009 07:23 AM

I think it was Watchmen when I saw the first preview for it, yah.
I have seen a couple on TV, but they haven't played any recently.

Sho-Shonojo 08-30-2009 01:59 PM

I don't think I saw the trailer until much more recently. I think it was when I went to see The Taking of Pelham 123.

Vickyll3 08-31-2009 05:29 PM

@Sho-Shonojo: WoW I guess everyone is different in a mayor way, because my sister watched that movie yesterday and didnt stop telling me how bad it sucks, she said it had no story line once so ever.

So I guess I have to watch it for myself.

Sho-Shonojo 08-31-2009 11:12 PM

Well, everyone looks at movies differently. I personally thought there was a great story line to it.

Noobulator 09-01-2009 11:52 PM

I saw 7 or 8 movies this summer and District 9 was my favorite. I give it a 10/10 and would LOVE to see it again. If you haven't seen it, go! Go!

LadyWinters 09-02-2009 06:07 AM

It's rated R where you are? ._o It's rated PG-14 where I am, but your rating makes more sense. I find the documentary style as brilliant. I really did enjoy seeing the movie unfortunately I probably wouldn't see it again ^^;

Despite it's wonderful story and all... the gore and camera action is a bit much. It sort of made me queasy, I don't know if the camera action because of course it's shaky since it's a documentary, or it buckets of blood near the end but I felt sick. I sort of feel bad now because I couldn't understand why my cousin felt ill after watching it but now I understand.

Sho-Shonojo 09-03-2009 12:23 AM

Yeah it was rated R here. Where do you live?

I can understand feeling queasy. I kinda felt gross when his fingernails and teeth were coming off, and when they were revealing his arm. Those things gross me out way more than people's heads getting blown up or something like that.

LadyWinters 09-03-2009 12:31 AM

Canada Ontario.... unless it was rated R and I looked in the wrong place *and* the theatre people weren't paying attention to my little sibling who looks like a ninth grader.

Sho-Shonojo 09-04-2009 03:10 AM

Hm... well. Who knows?

Veiss Wynd 09-06-2009 11:13 AM

>..> Holy **** the fingernail scene. Didn't feel queasy, but I spazed, twitched and fell over. Is there a word for that? Cause I can't think of one. Nails bother me. I can't stand it when someone picks on mine. Particularly when pulling them upwards. I feel uncomfortable. Can't stand the thought that by accident they might be pulled all the way back. Hate it too when a part chips, exposing the soft skin that it's supposed to protect.
I have a fear of accidents that may cause that. My friend had it happen twice to her - her toe nails got caught on an opening door. She was wearing tall sandals, that had her toe nails level with the door. When it opened, up went her toe nail. She lost the whole thing. Had to wait a while for it to fully regrow.

This is prolly a spoiler, so no clicking if you're picky and haven't watched . o.

SPOILERX

I wonder if it hurt the character, when his nails where falling off, cause it didn't really look like it did. His nails looked white, as if the skin was already separated, like the grip the skin has was weakened, so that there was no pain really involved.
x ox The skin coming off did look painful though.
; ~ ; He looked all sad and lonely in that last scene with the flower.

Sho-Shonojo 09-06-2009 02:09 PM

Ugh, it just gives me the creeps. My dad has lost toe nails before when he dropped something on it. Later on it would fall off. So gross.

SPOILERX

I don't think it hurt him. Odds are the binding was already decomposing and it just let them go. I think he just kinda was freaking out. Odds are it was the same with his teeth. They were just coming off. Man, I guess his skin was sloughing off too huh. Ugh, so nasty.

He was so sad at the end of that movie. TT.TT

I want to know what happens when Christopher comes back.

Twisty 09-06-2009 05:04 PM

I loved that movie...<3 Some parts of it had me wanting to cry, but overall it was a great movie. -nod nod-

Fabby 09-07-2009 12:36 AM

Fingernails coming off are just plain disgusting. D:

SPOILERX

Although I guess I'd rather lose a fingernail than giant chunks of skin.. D: It must have been really unpleasant when his eyeballs were transforming. I mean, they got three times bigger. And when they were mismatched? Wouldn't that give you some SERIOUSLY fucked up sight? o_o

Yamaxchan 09-07-2009 03:23 AM

So my girlfriend and I attempted to see this movie. That is, we were watching it online. As soon as we can find a Movie theater in Hawaii it is our 1 one priority to see it. Unfortunately we were watching a low quality version that got stuck 20-30 minutes into the movie and had to keep loading every 5 minutes or so for a half out. Needless to say, we gave up and are looking forward to see it in theaters. Especially since my brother says you forget the Aliens are computer generated because of the directing and all that jazz. I'm pretty excited. :3

Chocobo 09-07-2009 03:28 AM

District 9 had me cry and shocked so many times. At the starting, I couldn't wait for Wickus to die but then later I wanted him to live. He was so nice but then he was so mean to the aliens. The aliens weren't allowed to even go back home. The Africans didn't them to be here, they didn't want to be here, and the government disagreed. I would say the main point of this movie would be that Humans are scarier than aliens. We are the monsters, not them. The bald guy that was an alien killer, I just couldn't wait for him to die!! I hated him so much! Really, everyone wants power, we can't disagree on that. But some people want power more than anything.

Sho-Shonojo 09-07-2009 04:38 AM

@ Twisty: Glad to hear someone else enjoyed it.

@Fabby

SPOILERX

Man, I didn't even think about his eye. That must have been really messed up. It would had to swell, and his eye socket must have had to get bigger to fit it. Which means... there had to have been some shifting in his head going on. Couldn't have been pleasant. Not to mention the messed up eye sight.

I didn't think about this, but the transformation was really gradual wasn't it? I mean, I never really noticed blatant changes. I think that was really nicely done.

@Yamaxchan: Yea, you definitely need to see it in theaters. It took me no time at all for me to forget that they were computer generated (except that I want to do computer graphics so I was kinda thinking "I want to make animation that's this real" every now and then.)

@Chocobo: It's quite a turnabout isn't it. Except for the bald military man. I think I kinda hated him the whole movie. :3 I think it was great that I wasn't sure who to trust during the whole movie.

Son Zack 09-13-2009 10:46 PM

Ahhh, I LOVED that movie! Most of my friends and people I hear from who saw it either really like or really don't.

I thought it was a really neat, new kind of story. I was really interested and it kept me on the edge of my seat excited to find out what would happen at the end. I think a couple of parts in there were a touch ridiculous, even for science fiction. But overall I really thought it was cool and it seemed to be set up for a sequel. I hope they make that sequel because I'm really interested to see what happens next :3

fuyumi_saito 09-14-2009 05:54 PM

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've gotta a lot of mixed reviews from my friends. One friend said it was a weird movie, and not worth the money she spent on it. Another friend said my other friend didn't know what she was talking about, and it was an awesome movie, so I'm really not sure if I should go see it or not >_<

Sho-Shonojo 09-15-2009 03:42 AM

Yea, it seems that people are split half and half on it. It's been a trend throughout the thread too.

lightkanna 09-15-2009 09:49 PM

That was the most best movie I have ever seen in years. Sure, It may come in second because of The Little Mermaid. But it is really good. I recommend you guys see it, if you hadn't yet. ^^ I totally liked the ending and how he saved the aliens life. ^^ It was sweet.

rom-chan 09-17-2009 07:17 PM

I loved it. Personally, I think it was the best movie I have seen in ages.
