Eternal Rain (Open)

Many years ago, long before most that still walk this earth were born, the Rain Master, greatest and most powerful of all water spirits, came to our world in the form of a human. His intentions were to stay a year to experience life as a human, but that changed quickly when he met a beautiful young maiden. He fell in love with her beauty instantly and soon her herself. She was, in his eyes, the perfect woman. She was well mannered and talented, and to top it all off, she loved him back as well.

It wasn’t long after they met that the young couple married and began to make plans to start a family. The Rain Master swore to never leave his love to return to the spirit world, thus throwing the world into drought for the longest time. Little by little, the river and streams, ponds and lakes, all soon began to dry up, and the people began to fight over what little water was left.

Not every one fought though. There had been a small group of men from different towns and villages who met each day to think of ways to get more water. In the end, they devised a plan that might get the Rain Master to return to his home in the spirit world and make it rain again. And soon, a select few of them were on the front step of the Rain Master’s human home.

They knew he was out the house doing business in a near by town, and that his wife, who was heavy with their first child, was left home alone with no way to defend herself. They knocked on the door and she welcomed them graciously in, not knowing what they were planning. It wasn’t till they were all in and had her distracted that one of them pulled out a dagger and delivered a blow, that would not only kill her, but the child inside her as well.

She screamed in pain and her voice could be heard quite a bit of a distance away. Having heard the screams, the Rain Master, who had already been on his way home at this point, began to hurry, hoping that it might be time for his wife to give birth. When he got there, he did found his young bride, not ready to give birth, but lying motionless on the floor with a knife in her stomach. He quickly scooped the woman up and laid her on there bed. He pulled the blade out of her there and placed hid hand over the wound, hoping to heal her so that she may live through it, but to no avail. She had already passed and could no longer be saved.

He scooped the cold, lifeless body back up into his arms and carried her away till he reached a small pool of crystal clear water at the door between the human and spirit worlds. There he placed her in the water and her body slowly sank to the bottom where it is said to still rest to this very day.

After that he returned to the spirit world. His heart was now as cold as ice. He looked down onto the earth with a raging fury. Having only thoughts of revenge on his mind. He knew what he would do to make them pay for their heartless crime. He began to speak, and his voice was heard through out the world.

"So this is how far you'll go to get what you want. To heartlessly kill something so innocent and defenseless with out giving it a second though. I'll give you your rain. A of curse endless rain. I only hope you all drown in it."

That was the last anyone ever heard from him... I

It is rumored that when he placed the woman’s body in the water, the spirit of the child was released into the world to one day finally be born. And when it is, it’ll find a way to put an end to this eternal rain.

"Calder? Is that really why the rain never stops?"

"That's all up to what you believe, kid... Now get to sleep..."

“But I want to know, why isn’t the world completely covered in water yet?”

“Very well…” said the young man, pushing a small bit of his aqua blue hair out of his face. “You see, Every night, the Rain Master takes back some of the rain that has already fallen to make it fall again.”

“Why does he do that?”

“Cause, if he didn’t he’d run out eventually, and he has the provide rain for other worlds as well. Also, I don’t think he plans to kill all of the people off at once. I’m sure he knows that not all people are bad, he’s just waiting for someone to prove that to him…” He looked up, past the top of the trees, at the night sky.

“Hey Calder…”

“Yes little one?”

“Do you think it’ll ever stop raining?”

“Perhaps it will one day… Now get to sleep. You’ve got a long day ahead of you.”

12 years have passed and the rain is still falling. Yet again, people have started to get angry and wanted to fight, not against each other, but against the Rain Master. It has come down to there being a reward offered to whoever can put an end to this rain. Many have decided to try, but it’s much easier said than done.

First, they must find a the door to the spirit world. Many have searched for it, and very few have found it. As for those that have, they enter it, only to never return back through. Guarded by demons and spirits, the path to the spirit world is full of danger. If one thing doesn’t kill you, another thing will. There has yet to be any found strong enough to make it through.

As for the spirit of the Rain Master’s child, some believe it has finally been born, while others doubt that it ever even existed, or that it is still trapped within it’s dead mother. But one thing’s for certain, it’s not been seen or heard from ever, or if it has, no one knows who or what it is.

~Rules~
Read them. Obey them!
1. BE LITTERATE! You don’t have to post a whole page worth in your post, I’m only asking for at least a paragraph or two that are more than a line or two long. Make sure to try to have good grammar and spelling. The only exception to the grammar part is in dialog, cause very few people really do speak with perfect grammar.
Use “For talking” and ABSOLUTLY NO *action*! (The only exception to this is if it’s on OOC’s)
2. No God Modding. The only time you should ever be controlling another person’s character is if they give you permission to.
3. Don’t kill off another person character(s). Yet again, the only time you’re ever allowed to do that is if they give you permission to.
4. Don’t hog the RPG and leave everyone else behind. If you and one or two other people are the only ones to post for a whole page, then give it a rest and wait till other people can catch up and start posting. The no leaving people behind also pertains to skipping ahead in time. Make sure everyone is ready before you change what time of day or what day it is.(This is one thing I have had a problem with in the past on another forum where two people took up five+ pages between just the two of them and basically made time fast forward for everyone else. XP)
5. No going beyond kissing in the thread. Also, no instantly falling in love.
6. Please PM me you're profile.
7. Please don’t post in the thread unless you plan to join the RPG.
8. Please use (~)[~]{~} or some form of those for OOC things, especially once we have started. I don’t care if you don’t use them before we start, but be sure to use them after.
9. If you have a question, depending on what type, you can either PM it to me if it has to do with making your character or something like that. Or, if it’s something about the RPG that might be good for everyone to know, then feel free to post it in the thread!
Also, if you have any ideas that might better the plot then PM me and let me know what they are so we can decide to use them or not.
10. DO NOT START THE RPG UNLESS I SAY SO! (I’ve had problems with this elsewhere!)
11. I am the creator of this RPG, so what I say about it goes. I can change the rules for the RPG if I wish to and if I ask you to leave the RPG, please do so, or we’ll get someone to make you leave!
12. Stick with the Menewsha ToS and rules.

Name: Lyn
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Race: Lyn appears as an ordinary elf girl, but he is really a rain spirit who has not yet realized her true identity or taken on her true form.
Appearance: She starts out looking something like this, but with a slight point to her ears. She eventually looks somewhat like this as she slowly becomes her spirit form!
Personality: Lyn is a rather gentle, shy, and very sweet. Because of things in her past, she usually choose not to talk to very many people, it’s not that she doesn’t want to, it’s that she fears being jugged and them finding out who she really is. She can also be a bit stubborn and strong-willed at times, and will only act on what she thinks is right.
Abilities: Lyn has the ability to manipulate wind and water, but she cannot use it to stop the rain. Her power over water also gives her the ability to heal to an extent.
Weapons: On top of her control of two of the elements, Lyn is also some what skilled with a bow and arrows. She caries a small dagger on her as well, which she had received form Calder when she was still rather little. It is somewhat of a surprise that she never ended cutting herself with it.
Bio: Lyn never knew very much, if anything at all, about her family. She spent most of her life wandering the world, never staying in one place for very long, and if anyone ever asked her where he parents were, she’d often tell them that her parents died in a flood, but in all actuality, she doesn’t know what happened to them, if she ever even had any. The closest thing to family she’d ever known was Calder, a young man who worked in the art a thievery, and took care for quite some time when she was a child. He disappeared from her when she was only 10 and the thing she remembers most for him was when he told her the story of the Rain Master and why he cursed the whole world in an endless rain.

The only clue she has to her life before that time is a pendant made of blue crystal with a silver moon carved into it. Even with that, though, she is still unsure that it could help her find out more about her origin. She figures it could very well be a little trinket that Calder had stolen form someone and gave to her sometime before she could really remember.

Ever since Calder left her, Lyn has felt as though she is cursed. People all over think of her as an omen, for where ever she goes, floods soon follow after she leaves. And because of this, many people who figure out who she is while she’s around them, consider killing her to try to keep the floods form coming. Clearly, no one has yet done it, and in her mind, she thinks it would be funny if when someone does manage it, they still end up having a flood. Either way though, she does not wish to be killed.

Just recently, she decided that she might try to find the Rain Master herself and beg him to stop his endless rain. She hoped that if she did so, and he did actually end the seemingly endless rain, that she might not longer have to live in fear and being feared, for there wouldn’t be the surplus of water causing the flooding any longer. While she would prefer some form of help, given who she is, she doesn’t think she’ll get any anytime soon.

Appearance: Dancing in the Rain
Personality: She tends to be strong-willed and sometimes appears manipulative, but she is soft-hearted underneath it all. She tends to use whatever advantages she has to her without hurting anyone. She would prefer to get herself out of trouble with words than fists, but she isn't against using physical force to protect herself, or whatever she deems worthy of protection. When she has no goal, or even when she does, she tries to please other people. She is very versatile and can change personalities on a dime to suit the preferences of her company.

Weapons: She carries a knife, strapped to her thigh, and a decorated staff which she uses in melee combat and in her dances.
Bio: Sanaii comes from a band of traveling gypsies who travel the waters that have risen from the constant rain. They travel town to town, entertaining the people to lift their moods about the dismal situation. They also make their living this way, of course. Sanaii has seen much of the world in this way, and has gathered many stories and lore. She doesn't speak to many about her personal beliefs or feelings, and seems far more interested in listening to what others belief or desire.

The Kitsune was only eleven when a dark plague overtook his homeland. The disease spread like a wildfire. Being the only priest left, he had to lead a pilgrimage to leave the village and relocate in a more secretive and secure area. Many fell sick and died on the journey. Seeing his people die before him left and right without being able to help them, tore his mind from the world. New Faerune is what they called it. The new village, was more of a kingdom of sorts where no one could enter it's large bordering gates and walls that encircle it. Kiel refuses to look down on anything now and lives in his large church in the very center of New Faerune.

[b ]Appearance: [/b] Human (Drawn by me. Please do not steal.)
Gryphon (Drawn by me. Please do not steal)
Embodiment of Air
Personality: Celest is very odd, as she can be energetic one minute and quiet and calm the next. Many say that she is the wind itself, but she refuses to believe that nonsense. Cruel and Kind, Energetic and Calm, Strong and Gentle she is constantly changing, along with the wind.
[b ]Abilities: [/b]Her abilities are limited to her forms. When she is human, she is just that... a human. She can use her body as a weapon seeing as though, hand held weapons just slow her down. She is agile in this form and uses kicks as her main form of attack.

When she changes back into a human, she is sapped of all energy and usually faints.

Bio: Celest was never a normal child, rumored to be born from a nymph and human... her abilities grew with her. When she mastered controlling her ability to shift into a Gryphon at the age of adulthood, she was labled a deity by some and a monster by others. Thrown into the position of Wind Priestess by her tribe, who was to protect them and pray to the gods. As the rain continued to pour, her trials became harder and harder to endure, and finally her spirit broke when a man approached her for marriage. When she refused them, he grabbed her wrist and threatened to kill her, whispering how he had killed her father and took her mother. Her breathing quickened as he slid the dagger across her skin of her neck, only to find that no blood flowed. Her skin started to turn translucent and her hair whipped around her face. She broke free from any solid matter and became the wind itself. Her eyes rolled back as she lost control of everything she did, nature being her only guide. She not only killed the man, but destroyed and massacred the entire town, only to wake up a day later and find herself laying in the middle of rubble. Scared and confused she seeked the answers of what happened. When the wind brushed across her face and whispered of a child born of rain. She was to seek out this child, but why she was unsure. She started to question if this child was even real, as the days passed. Until...

Appearance: [Shad] [He wears a long, hooded dark red cloak when he isn't inside buildings.]
Personality: Kind, yet shy, not much for talk unless directly spoken to, then he tends to speak on and on, saying whatever word he can.
Abilities: He is gifted in the art of magic, being able to cast any spell within his book that he can using the power of his mind.
Weapons: The only thing on his person considered a weapon would be the dagger within his spell book. He never uses it though, preferring magic and intelligence over senseless violence and strength, he uses the dagger only as a bookmark.
Bio: Shad was born and raised in a land draped in mystery and magic, a small part of the world not known by any average living being. Everyone who lived there was a special Elf with the ability to use their own magic, to control the natural elements around them. It was a peaceful land until the eternal rains began, the most powerful elves soon gathered in their own library, full of spell books they wrote themselves.

For days they tried to use their magical powers to discover the source of the rain, finding the Rain Master within a blurry vision in their heads. "Someone must go find the land where the Rain Master last walked..." said the most elder elf mage to his fellow friends. "I shall go" Shad spoke out, stepping forward toward the elder, and soon everyone began preparing for Shad's journey. Saying farewell to everyone within his small forest village, he began to travel to the source of the Eternal rain to perhaps help it stop once and for all, confident in his magic abilities and himself.

It took many months for him to finally reach the source, only, he was now all by himself in an unfamiliar place, he needed somewhere to stay, but where? Spotting the inn within the small village, he headed their quickly, to escape the rain and find a room to continue his research of the rain.

Lyn slowly walked through a small village, the hood of a cloak, covering her face so that none could see it. Only the sound of the rain hitting the roof tops could be heard, for there was not very much was going on there, which meant the Inn there probably wouldn't be too busy, making it more ideal for her to stay at. Less people meant less a chance of being attacked if her identity as the "Flood Omen," as some liked to call her, was discovered. She soon came to a somewhat large building with a sign that read "Greenbell Inn and Tavern" in large letters. She pushed open the small, oak door and walked inside.

It was somewhat quiet inside compared to the sound of the rain outside that, at times, drown out all other sounds. She looked around the tavern, not yet removing her hood or her cloak. It wasn't very crowded, just a few groups sitting at scattered tables. She sat down at a small table in the corner and listened to everyone else talking.

The conversation going on at the table closest to her caught her interest. Although their language was surd form drinking, she could understand them well enough to catch what they were saying.

"I hear that-at fluhd gurl ish passshen *hick* thrugh 'ere shoon." said one as he took another swig of his Ale.

"At's whuh I hurd too." said the other. "Les hope her not com thow 'ere. Weh don' wan no mowe wada... *hick*"

"Shee show 'er *hick* fashe 'ere, I gonna keel 'er! Den she can' make id fluhd no mowe!"

At that, Lyn pulled her hood down farther over her face. While they didn't see her face, the two men noticed her and were making there way over to her table.

"Hey dare cuteh." One of them said. He wasn't very attractive and had quite a beer belly. He was close enough for her to smell his breath, which wasn't at all pleasant. "Whud 'ou do'en 'ere alone?"

"Ye'h?" said the other. He was noticeably younger and thinner. He got up in her face and she could smell his beer breath when he talked. "'ow bougt you and meh go some plashe privaet and hab shum fun?"

"No thanks..." Lyn said as she resisted to urge to pinch her nose to block out the smell of their breath. "Gosh your breath stinks..." she said under her breath.

Kriddles 08-17-2009 09:20 PM

Celest walked down the muddied roads of the village. Her clothes where matted to her skin while her feet were caked with mud. Her blue eyes looked up from her water-drenched hair and watched as the rain continued to pour. The drunken laughter that echoed on the wind, grew louder as she moved closer and closer to the Tavern and Inn. She paused for a moment before finally stepping inside to the warmth of a fire and the merriment of the drunks. With no money, she could not afford a room or a meal, but as far as she could tell the warmth of a fire was not off limits. She sat at the table closest to the flames so that the heat brushed up against her back and started to dry her off.

"Hey dare cuteh." she could hear a drunk flirt with one of the bar maidens or a customer. Whichever it was, she felt sorry for the girl. "Whud 'ou do'en 'ere alone?"

"Ye'h?" another seemed to have joined in, but he took it a step further "'ow bougt you and meh go some plashe privaet and hab shum fun?"

When the girl they were pestering clearly denied them, Celest stood. Men who pressured women was one thing she didn't tolerate.
"Clearly, she's not interested fella's." She said quietly. "You might like to try that fine lady over there, however." She said as she pointed to a rather lanky and feminine looking man. "I hear she is looking for a companion or two."

Kierys 08-17-2009 10:45 PM

The tavern was quiet and relatively boring when Sanaii entered. A couple people from her troupe followed in after her, carrying instruments, and began to set up in the corner of the tavern. She let her earthstone eyes take in the surroundings before she shed the slick material that had drops of rain rolling off it. As she handed the garment to one of her comrades, she shook her hair out. Jewelry made bell-like jingling sounds from all over her body. Her hair fell into place, thick tresses of earthy brown that fell in waves and framed her face. Her attire was bright as new flames, a sizzling bright red that inspired exotic thoughts and the appearance of warmth. With a smile, she took her place in the corner with her troupe and nodded. Music started up, a catchy beat that made you want to sway in time with it. She began to dance, the jewelry making music of its own as it jingled against her skin. Her voice picked up a soft chanting, starting out low and building in pitch and volume until it was almost a siren song over the drunken laughter and sound of pitchers and mugs clattering. She let her eyes look over every patron in the room and took note of a slight disturbance taking place around a cloaked figure. Even in a time like this, it seemed human stupidity still reigned. She knew about those types. They always were out looking for fun and all they seemed to get was trouble. She smirked and looked away. It was none of her affair and she was certain that if the person could not handle them, someone else would.

dustland_fairytale 08-18-2009 01:35 AM

Rasul sat quietly in his corner, stirring the froth of the drink he would never sip from with a long middle finger as he waited for one of the patrons to stumble off away from the others where he could get it. His ears pricked at the sound of the drunken men's discussion. He supressed a laugh. So it was a she. And further more it was close. The man's threat was weak compared to the wild thoughts running through his mind. Rasul felt another presence enter the room and his eyes darted to the side, examining the new comer with wary curiosity. As the girl was quickly harassed, Rasul rolled his eyes. Mortal men sickened him. They were dirty and rough. But he watched the scene unfold in silence, taking no action of his own. He leaned back in his chair and licked his finger, remembering only too late the liquid that was on it before grimacing.

Yuuki Rin Morra 08-18-2009 02:19 AM

The two men looked at the woman who had just spoken, then over to the "woman" she'd suggested. In a drunken stupor, they picked up their mugs and staggered off in that direction to flirt with the lanky, feminine looking man.

Relieved to be out of that situation, Lyn looked over at the women who had averted their attention to another. "Thank you."she said quietly, still not removing her hood.

Her attention was then caught by the joyous sound of gypsy music coming from the opposing corner. She turned to find another young women dressed in fiery colored clothing dancing and singing to it. She sat and watched, somewhat envious, wishing she could be free to do the same. The life of a gypsy seemed to appeal to her. Traveling around, picking up strange talents like palm reading and fortune telling, performing where ever you could, and ultimately, being free to do as you wished. But because of her curse, she couldn't even let her face be seen, none the less perform for others.

Kiel was sitting at his desk within the church office as he was mixing some holy water. He tapped the vials each twice with his winged staff and smiled as the perfect chime rang from each bottle. Blinking his pale grey eyes, the young priest slowly turned to look out the window.

"Rain...." he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

His golden brown locks fell around his face and covered his eyes as he looked down to spot some of the holy water turning black. Kiel's face grew sour as he opened the window and chucked the vial outside. It busted on the cobblestone streets of New Faerune.

"An ill omen." He muttered as he quickly gathered the good vials and his staff. "I must see to this at once."

He pulled a white cloak over his body and flashed out the door and down the flight of stairs to the prayer room. He saw the other two priests, his pupils, standing there.

"Please watch the church in my stead. I have an errand to run. I think something terrible is going to happen. I don't know where, it's far off from what I could tell." Kiel said in a calm way, yet his eyes flickered in worry.

The younger of the two apprentices nodded and smiled. "Yes Father Kiel. We shall do our best to care for this church."

The older one was even older than Kiel, yet he was born with natural ability to heal. He nodded once with a worried expression.

"Take care, Father. I bid you luck and shall pray on your safe return."

With that, the priest left the church with a smile. It didn't stay, for he frowned upon entering the rain. He quickly pulled the hood over his head and ventured through the town, past all the shops and to the main gates, where his journey to stop the bad omen would begin.

A short figure was wandering around through the soaked village, his hooded cloak completely drenched from the endless rain, but he himself was safely dry, along with his books held close to his person underneath. Shad was his name and he stopped in the middle of the street and looked around, "this place is even more depressing than I thought... hopefully I can find a place to stay soon, or at least to get away from this accursed rain for awhile!" He thought to himself, when his gaze turned to a large and comfortable looking inn, he ran toward it quickly and opened the door, greeted with music and laughter from drunken guests. Once he closed the door behind him some of the drunk patrons looked at him over their shoulders, but his face was in darkness from his hood, Shad turned his back to everyone and removed his cloak. He hung it on top of the coat rack by the door, revealing his interesting outfit and books he carried, he then turned back to everyone, adjusted his glasses and smiled warmly.

"Interesting bunch of people... hmm? Whose that?" Shad thought to himself, his gaze toward Lyn, she was all alone, he walked over and sat in the chair across from her. "Forgive me" he said, "you do not mind if I sit here to catch up on my writing, do you?" He adjusted his glasses again, his voice was that of a gentleman and he looked quite handsome to boot. He placed his large spell book upon the table since he was tired of carrying it, he opened one of the pouches on his belt and pulled out a small triangular bottle of ink along with a feather pen. He pulled a small leather journal off his belt and opened it to the last page he left off at, dipping his feather into the ink he then began to write. He kept notes of his journey within his book to show his fellow elves and mages when he returned home.

He looked up from his book a couple times at Lyn, he sensed something from her, she was different than all the other average people within the room, he decided to at least say something to break the silence. "Perhaps we should introduce ourselves, since we're here, my name is Shad, Shad Tenish, what is yours?" He smiled once more and halted his writing, waiting for an answer from her.

(I have a bit of writers block at the moment. Sorry. XP)

Lyn looked in the direction of the young man who'd just introduced himself as Shad. "My name is Lyn." she said quietly."Pleased to meat you." She could not quite see his face due to the hood of her cloak slightly blocking her view, but she could faintly feel something strange about him, which made her somewhat curious.

She glanced at the book he had in front of him. It was not like one she'd seen before in her travels. "May I ask what you're reading?" she ask.

_~Link~_ 08-20-2009 04:54 AM

"It is nice to meet you too Lyn" he said happily, chuckling, he then continued writing, but he soon stopped once she asked what he was doing, he smiled and put his pen down for a little bit. "It is a journal I've written in daily ever since I began traveling, though I've been so preoccupied in getting here that I've skipped writing within it for a few weeks, so I'm taking this opportunity to catch up." He brushed through to the very first page and then looked at Lyn once more, "would you like to read it, perhaps? It is not finished of course but still, I'll let you take a look if you want" he closed the book and offered her it, smiling.

She felt it may be a bit awkward for her to read a stranger's journal, even though they offered, and she was rather curios of what it said. "I'm sorry, but perhaps another time."she said softly, sticking her hand out to gently push the book back at Shad. "I've been traveling as well and will most likely be leaving in the morning. I'd hate to get caught up reading something that I may not be able to finish. Besides, it would probably be best you finish writing what you need to while you can. Who knows how many times I've forgotten what happened to me a day before." "Although being knocked unconscious by someone wishing to kill me doesn't really help with remembering..." she added on in her thoughts.

((This is the last post I'll make until someone else posts besides you Yuuki, after all in your rules it says that its best to not go very far with just two people and not give others a chance to say anything.))

He felt a bit sad that she denied his offer, but he understood her completely and soon managed to smile again, "it is no trouble dear" he opened up the book to the same page as before and continued writing. "Oh, you're leaving tomorrow?" Shad asked, a bit surprised, dipping his pen in the ink then writing some more, "if that is the case... perhaps we may travel together? I do not plan to stay here, my destination is still a long way away, also... in my heart, I feel you are going to the same place as I am, but I shall not tell exactly what and where." He turned the page to the next blank one, dipped the pen in the ink and continued writing.

"I know we just met, but I sense... no, I know we'll need each other's assistance to get where we have to go, that is what my heart tells me." He adjusted his glasses, a serious look on his face, "call it fate or coincidence, you be the judge" he looked down at his book, already done with a paragraph. He wrote in cursive, flawlessly and clearly, his wrist and hand still as to not make mistakes, "so, what do you say Lyn?" He looked up at her, giving her a confident smirk, but then looking back down at his book and writing more.

Kiel mounted a white stallion and rode it through the heavy rain. He did not stop at all, nothing could slow him down. Once he got wind of a bad omen, he was determined to stop it. There was no way he was going to let anything happen to his new town. Halting his horse in a stable of a neighboring town, he looked around. Closest thing to him was an inn. A slow sigh past the male's lips as he entered the warm building.

Kiel hung his white cloak onto the rack along with other's. His pale grey eyes looked around, spotting the two talking at the table, and then to the other three who seemed to stand out.

"It's lead me to here, but why. No one seems too dangerous. Just some people talking , and some that are drunken fools." He sighed as he mumbled to himself.

Celest left Lyn when the two men wandered off to fetch the eye of a so called maiden. Her work here was finished for now. Hoping for an ale or something to warm her bones she took her seat near the fire. It was then that she watched two more souls walk through the door as the gypsy in the corner continued to enchant the patrons with her tune. She pushed back some of her ivory hair and observed.

The first man to enter was a bit shorter than the others, his face hidden from others until he removed the traveling cloak. He wasn't a bad looking man, just short with a friendly smile. He made himself comfortable at Lyn's table, and for a moment, she thought she was going to have to protect the girl once again. It wasn't until she saw the man chuckling and writing that she relaxed back into her chair. Appearantly the man knew a spell or two, but she didn't know if that was enough to qualify him as a mage or not. Friendly conversation, that was all that was happening. She didn't bother to listen in.

The second man to enter the tavern after several minutes was interesting as well. He was cloaked too, only he held an awkward posture. As if he was unsure of why he was there, standing in the doorway to a tavern. He looked among the patrons, as if observing them before looking at her. For a moment they locked eyes, but he then continued to observe the room.

Celest turned her head away from the entrance, and leaned a bit more towards the fire. Her clothes were beginning to dry, along with her wavy hair. The three jewels that were enbedded into her forehead twinkled in the light. She looked almost majestic as a few more water droplets clung to her bare skin, hair and the feathers that adorned the ringlet crown she wore around her head. The faint blue tattoos ran down her arms, abdomen and hips, along with encircling and decorating her eyes. She watched the gypsy continue her intoxicating melody, curious to whether or not sirens really did exist, and if they did, could they walk amongst the living? 'Nymphs do...' she thought to herself, before answering her own silly question.

The young Kitsune Priest slowly made his way to the fire to greet the young woman before him. He didn't want to interrupt the other two at this point, and he wanted to make sure no one here was a threat or linked to his omen.

"Hello ma'am. I am a traveling Kitsune Priest. You may call me Father Kiel, or just Kiel, whichever suits you." He smiled handsomely. "Are you possibly traveling with any one else here?"

His long white, gold and pale blue robes barely touched the ground, leaving only the toes and heals of his shoes visible. Kiel placed his staff against the wall next to him as he pulled up a chair to sit in.

Celest jumped a little when the man from before approached her, bringing her back to reality instead of hypnotized by the warmth of the fire and songtress. She turned her head gingerly, her white hair (which was still a little damp) fell over her shoulders as she looked up at him. The jewels glittering as multiple light sources hit them.

He called himself 'Father Kiel' and a Kitsune Priest, though she had never heard of his kind before. She waved her hand to an open seat, offering to let him sit at her table. She took a glance back over to Lyn and the other man before turning her attention to Kiel completely. She was a bit unsure as to why she felt so protective of the girl a few seats away, whether it be because she was a woman or something else she was unsure, but the impulse to protect her was there. "Please take a seat." She said quietly, before lowering her hand to the table. "I am not traveling with anyone, sir." She answered his question that followed his introduction. She paused a moment before turning back to him, "What exactly is a Kit...son... wey priest?" She had difficult time pronouncing the title. "I have never heard of them where I come from."

Lyn looked up a bit more at the man who'd she'd been talking to so she could get a bit of a better view of him, and he her if he was to pay attention. She took note of the points of his ear and realized he was an elf. She'd never met one before, but she knew half the blood in her had come from and elven parent. After thinking it over a bit she finally gave an answer to his question. "If you wish." she said. Here emerald green eyes seemed to light up as she thought about no longer traveling alone. "It has been quite a few years since I've had a traveling companion. Eight to be exact. I must warn you though, by traveling with me, you may very well be putting your own life in danger." She then lowered her voice to almost a whisper. "I carry a curse." She somewhat hoped he'd missed those last words.

Shad looked away from his book for a moment to spot Kiel, watching him walk over to the table where Celest sat, but he didn't wish to intrude on any conversation so he looked away. He paid attention to Lyn, looking quite happy, adjusting his glasses once more, he did that often, almost like a habit that couldn't be helped. "Wonderful, we both could use the company" he did his best to not disturb anyone around them that might be listening, but then he looked concerned when she mentioned his life might be in danger if he traveled with her. His ears twitched, eyes widened when he heard her faint whisper, "a curse you say...?" Shad thought to himself, his curiosity was peaked. Shad had many, many questions to ask Lyn now, but a faint feeling of tension in the air kept him holding his tongue, such questions were best asked another time.

"Hmmm... for some reason I do not wish to write at this moment" he said, closing up his journal and placing it back onto his belt, along with his ink and pen back in the pouch. "I must do more research..." he lifted up his spell book and opened it up, skipping through pages upon pages of his many powerful spells. The book looked a lot smaller when closed, once opened, there were thousands upon thousands of pages, Shad stopped at the section of where he put the small dagger as a bookmark. "Ahh... I see..." Shad couldn't control what he said as he was reading, so focused upon the book in his hands he forgets anything else that happens, "oh my... how tragic." A look of sadness upon his face.

He was reading up on the history of the Rain Master once more, the ancient mages and scholars of his small isolated village had enchanted his typical spell book, allowing him access to any of the books within their private library whenever he wanted with a simple flip to the bookmark all in a single book. He looked up from his book at Lyn for a moment, "forgive me Lyn, but, do you know anything about the water spirit known as... the Rain Master?" He asked her, almost in a whisper to not attract attention, "he is the one we're both after, yes? Perhaps you know more of him that is not already within my private literature." He waited for any kind of answer, a firm grip upon his book, trying to keep the dagger from sliding out and losing his space.

Kiel chuckled lightly at her pronunciated and corrected it throroughly.

"Kitsune Priest. The Kitsune is a race or clan that separates themselves from the outside world due to some horrible pasts. It's no surprise that you are not familiar. Main reason we are Kitsune, is because we have the ability to transform into Foxes, and some of us have special abilities. I, myself, had to be trained for the healing practice. I was lucky to be able to choose my path since my power was unmarked, or rather unspoken." Not sure of her understanding or not, he stopped there.

His pale gray eyes watched the fires burn brightly as he took a seat with her. His long robes touched the ground as he sat. Kiel slid his pale, soft hands onto the table parallel from one another as he leaned close to her.

"I.. have a bit of troublesome news. I came here in search of an ill omen. I need to put a stop to it. I was lead here by it, but it seems at a stand still." He paused as he heard Lyn and Shad quiet down.

Averting his glance to their table, he could see that they were still communicating, but his new bad omen made him question everyone. Turning his gaze back to Celest, the holy man sighed and cocked a brow.

"I don't know what this could mean. I wonder if it means that I must travel with anyone, or if the source of the news is here. I need to question everyone I can."

Kriddles 08-21-2009 01:05 PM

Celest paused watching the man. His words were clear, but the meanings still eluded her. An ill-omen? She was on a quest to find a child born of rain, and wondered for a split moment if they were the same. And then another thought hit her, maybe he was talking about her small tribe. It seemed unlikely for a group of people to be recognized so soon, but it was possible. Either way she didn't speak of her background. "An ill-omen?..." She asked, lowering her voice. She leaned back in her chair. The warmth of the fire licking at her back, soothing the worries into small concerns.

She shook her head, her hair (nearly dry now) bounced slightly. "The winds spoke to me. They sent me from my tribe in search of a child born of rain." She said quietly. It wasn't a lie, just a twist of the truth that allowed her to keep her past to herself. She looked back up at Kiel and smiled, "I've asked several of what that meant coming here, and all I recieved was frowns and those that walked away. If they know, it must not be good." She said quietly before adding, "Then the winds brought me here. Perhaps what you and I are looking for are the same. The deities of the wind always have reason behind their bidding." her hand motioned towards the tavern.

She looked over to Lyn, listening in slightly to their conversation a couple of tables down, but with the drunken laughter and song, she could not make out what they were whispering. She stared at Shad, who now had out what looked to be a book of written spells and lore, but she was unsure. Perhaps he was a mage after all.
