Jitter crawled into bed and went to sleep, still hungry.
Hal closed her eyes and tried to ignore the voice.
Jitter tossed and turned in bed, listening to her stomach.
Somehow, Hal made it to morning with plenty of sleep.
Jitter had tossed and turned all night, wishing for food.
With gym clothes on, Hal went out for a jog.
Jitter walked outside and scrounged in dumpsters for edible trash.
Hal passed Jitter and stopped in mid-step. “What’re you doing?”
"Looking for breakfast. I have no food. Remember?" Jitter blushed.
"Seriously?" Hal's shoulders dropped slightly. "Wanna come to my place?"
"I don't want to bother important people." Jitter continued digging.
"I'm flattered you think I'm important. Now come," she insisted.
"Only if you mean it this time." Glaring at Hal.
“Yeah, sorry. I was tired,” she said, leading the way.
Jitter didn't know when her next meal came, so followed.
Once home, Hal led her to the kitchen. "Eat. Now.”
Jitter ate ravenously, not holding back, eating nearly everything.
"Well, I'll be shopping," Hal said jokingly, crossing her arms.
"Thank you. I hadn't eaten in a week." Jitter smiled
"No problem." Hal shrugged. “Do they not pay you enough?”
"No, I can barely afford my apartment." Jitter said, satisfied.
"Why don't you get a new job?" She asked.
She thought about it."Can't, I've tried." Jitter's smile disappearing.
"That sucks," Hal said, voice distant and mind elsewhere.
"Mmm." Jitter relpied dozing off, catching up on missed sleep.
