Jitter just sagged more, "I'm sorry. I didn't, I just...."

Hal flailed wildly. “You make me look like the devil!”

" That's because no one wants to be nice to me!!"

"Well, you shouldn’t feel bad. I'm not nice to anyone."

"Then I can't be around you." Jitter shrugged, feeling sad.

"Lovely," Hal said sarcastically, staring numbly at Jitter. “Absolutely lovely.”

"Sorry, it's hard to deal with when everyone hates you."

Hal sighed. “Maybe if you didn’t say that about yourself...”

"Riiiight. Mother always used to tell me I shouldn't lie."

"People really don’t like downers." Hal said simply and shrugged.

"I used to be happy, then everyone hated me."

"Stop saying that. It's depressing," Hal said, turning to shop.

"But they do, if they didn't, I wouldn't say it."

"A real downer, I'm sure," Hal said, grabbing blue cheese.

"AHHH!!! I wiped my slate clean but you got mean."

"It's just me," Hal threw the cheese in her cart.

"I'm sure. Lets stop being bad people together!!" Jitter suggested.

Hal gripped the handle of the cart. "So I’m bad?”

"Well, you're not good by any means. Neither am I."

"Aw, thanks," she sneered, pushing the cart and stomping angrily.

"I'll unsay it only if you can truthfully deny it."

Hal looked even more cross at that point. "Fine. Whatever."

" Guess not." Jitter mumbled, following Hal, like a beaten puppy.

Hal's shoulders remained squared; she didn't look over her shoulder.

"Shit. I'm late for work." Jitter ran and clocked in.
