@Fading - Well, they could give you more boring things to do. XD
I'm just not gonna reply to that last bit >_> |
I guess...it's much better than translating American slang, anyhow XD |
@Fading - Yeah, slang can get complicated. Like when people say "That's sick!" But they don't mean "That's gross." They mean "That's amazing/awesome/great!"
|
Yeah, or stuff like 'dude', 'chicks', etc...and I'm not even going to get into the 'fuck!' stuff. XD |
@Fading - XD I use dude a lot. But more like an exclamation than a noun. ^_^;; Like, "Dude! That's crazy!"
I was just going to say something else and you made me forget =/ *thinks* Man...what was it? x_X It was something else about slang...crap. |
lol Yeah. The beauty of slangs and translating them...xD;; |
And then there's all those common sayings that you have no idea what they mean.
|
...Yes, those too. >__>; |
You read them and you're all "What?" And then you have to figure out what the heck they mean. I remember puzzling them out in French class. One of my favorite things was just window shopping. Window shopping means browsing or whatever, but the translation in french means "Window licking". :rofl:
|
Wtf window licking? :rofl: |
O.o Hello again everybody... Did I miss anything important, other than the whole conversation on cannibalism? |
lol Nothing much XD Mainly just the cannibalism. We're talking about slang right now :P |
@Fading - The French say "lèche-vitrines" and lèche mean lick. Thus, it translates to window licking. XD
@Risika - Um...tree brains and translating? |
@Fading: Ahhh, slang. Silly people making up silly uses for words. @Cookie: O.o Tree-brains? I wasn't aware that trees had brains. |
lol. I love these different languages translating thing. XD |
@Risika - They don't. It was an orange fungal growth thing and some guy fried it up and ate it.
@Fading - It is fun. XD |
ARGGGH!! I have this sudden insane craving to hug my Brownie! I blame it on my sig image. >.> |
@Fading: I don't have much experience with translating. I'm a one language girl. :cry: @Cookie: Oh, okay. Ewww, fungus. >.< I'm not a big fan of fungi. |
I hate translating, some of it's so hard XD;; |
@Fading - DON'T DO IT! It'll hypnotize you into sleep again!!! D:
@Risika - I'm a one language girl too. I studied both French and Japanese, but I don't speak either of them, just English. Well, ok, I can read a bit of French, but I have the vocabulary of a three year old or something XD I love mushrooms! I'd never eat some random orange fungus off a tree. Most random fungus are poisonous! But I do love non-poisonous mushrooms :D |
lol I'm feeling a bit tired already just thinking about Brownie XDDD;; |
@Fading: Nope! Or not really anyways. I can eat them, but I'd much rather not. They have a funny texture, especially sometimes when they're cooked. >.< @Cookie: French is too flowery for me, but I did take some Spanish in school. I wish I could study Japanese properly. I don't have the confidence to try and learn a second language without a proper learning environment. I'd hate to get it wrong. Dx Yeah, random brightly colored tree fungus = bad for your health. |
I love the way mushrooms taste...well, not so good when they're raw, but I love them when they're cooked properly! <3 |
@Fading - Don't do it! Don't give in!
We should have a mushroom shaped wedding cake! XD @Risika - Aww, mushrooms are yummy. Well, some of them. There are some that I can't eat at all. There's this one kind of mushroom that pops up in some Asian food, might be a shitake mushroom, but it has the worst texture, like rubbery bubble gum. Ugh. i hate it. Ironic that you would say that as both French and Spanish are romance languages with the same basis. They are quite similar. I took some Spanish as well. I've studied three languages! None of which I can speak. I think I'd do better studying Japanese on my own though. If I could motivate myself to do it, I'd be better at it than under the stress of a classroom environment, trying to keep pace and stuff or have an angry little Japanese lady yelling at you. |
I'm not very good at picking up languages. I did french lessons for like, 6 years and nothing has stuck in my mind. I love the idea of talking in a different language though. I just don't have the patience and drive to make myself remember any of it D:
I haven't really tried mushrooms, but I don't think I like them from what I have had.. I'm going for a shower now though, bye! |
