Oh geez, so many!

Embarrassingly enough, I started out in DBZ fandom. Yeah, shut up. I was one of the founding members of the fandom. I haven't been into it for years and people still recognize me as being from that fandom ^_^;;

I've done FMA, Inuyasha, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and looooooots more.

Oscar the Wild 09-06-2009 03:28 PM

Awesoooome~

Do you have a link?

For-Chan Cookie 09-06-2009 10:21 PM

But of course. My fanfiction website is For-Chan Cookies :D Though watch out, some of that stuff is really old O_o I have some newer stuff on my fic journal.

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 12:20 AM

Oooh, your drabbles are very nice, particularly "Silk." And is that one Fruits Basket fanfic-the one about Tohru's long-lost twin sister-a parody on Mary Sue characters?

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 12:22 AM

Thank you

Yes. I was feeling silly. And you know, you just KNOW there's a fanfic out there like that! XD

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 12:27 AM

I bet there are fanfics with American girls coming to Japan and ending up with either Kyo/Yuki/Haru/what have you.

Man, I feel old now. Fruits Basket was one of my first fandoms and my third anime, I think, after Sailor Moon and Inuyasha. I remember being fascinated by Kyo/Haru when I was twelve/thirteenish.

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 12:32 AM

Oh, certainly! That's like the whole "A new girl at Hogwarts!!!" Scenario where they hook up with Harry or Draco or whoever *gags* Although, I did once have in idea for a role play where exchange students could enter the house of Miscellani! But they could have limited to no interaction with canon characters, cause that's lame sauce. Never did do anything with the idea though. It was fun talking about.

You're not allowed to feel old. I've been doing this stuff since before you hit the double digits XD Hell, I've made a lot of friends in fandom who are older than me! Old School slashers in their 40s and 50s!

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 12:39 AM

You man those ones who dress like they just shopped at Hot Topic, and Draco or Snape goes completely out of character as he tries persuing her? Man, I hate those. It's like, with fanfiction, you could do anything. You could come up with any given scenario, or explain certain scenes that had like, no detail. Instead, most chicks decide they want to hook up with their favorite character. Such good ideas, such potential, wasted on badly-written romantic fantasies, but I digress. Okay, so I'm being biased, sorry. I just have a thing against original characters who take over the story, no excuses. It kind of bugs me. Fans can write whatever they want, but yeah, I'll still be wary. Bah. Anyway....yeah. Your idea sounds pretty fun though.

XD Forties and fifties, really? Wow, that's pretty cool.

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 12:52 AM

No, you've hit the nail on the head. I'm the same way. I have a very low tolerance for original characters in general just because most people can't handle them very well. Not all OCs are Mary Sues, but they're often so badly written. Ugh. Then again, if the people write the OCs bad, chances are the canon characters are written equally badly. I just have so little faith in people sometimes to produce anything worth reading. I'm very cynical. I refuse to read Mary Sue fantasies. And you know what I really hate? When people take a character and use them as a sort of vehicle for themselves. Mary Sue by Proxy! So suddenly you get a spineless delicate little Draco throwing himself at manly studmuffin Harry and it's just...WTF! Seriously! RAR!

Yes. They are our foremothers! The women to whom we owe our genre! At my very first Yaoicon, I met a woman who used to sell Kirk/Spock zines at SciFi conventions. And back then, that sort of stuff was illegal in some states, so they'd get run out of town and stuff for peddling their slashy romance.

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 01:06 AM

I personally want to meet those women and shake their hands. It must have been tough to smuggle that slashy-slashy goodness. Kirk/Spock...huh. I know it's one of the first slash pairings, if not the first, but it still seems odd. Dunno why.

Ooooh, don't get me started on out of characterness. I have read some fics that are good up until Harry then stops acting like Harry, leaving me with "....What? D:" I generally don't mind author avatars in original fiction, provided it's not blatant and the character still has flaws.

Harry/Draco. I used to ship that a few years back. It was one of my first pairings, along with Remus/Sirius. XD Those were the days. Bwahaha. Harry as a studmuffin. That word makes me giggle. Heeee.

Have you checked out Pottersues? Great site if you want to bash some Mary Sues. Some of them are truly awful. Except for My Immortal. That one is just plain hilarious.

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 01:20 AM

Kirk/Spock is the first slashy pairing for which there is published fanfiction.

Out of Characterness, sometime you can deal with it better than other times. Like if the author leads into it, gives an explanation and such. But most don't. Suddenly, you just have an emo Harry who wants to slit his wrists or bottom for Draco, maybe both.

For my friends and I, it seems like everyone in Harry Potter is pairable with everyone else. They're all the fandom bike! Right now, we like to pair Harry up with Blaise Zabini. The sad thing is, the poor boy was so ambiguous for so long, you have all these white Blaise and girl Blaise fics -_- We prefer black Blaise.

I don't really care to bash Mary Sues, mostly because then I'd have to read them. And I just prefer to avoid them alltogether, even the humorous ones.

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 02:08 AM

XD

That would probably be best. Instead, we can concentrate on the good fics.

I prefer black Blaise, too. Fans weren't expecting that, were they? Pfft, everyone in that series is the fandom's bicycle. Everyone and anyone has been paired up with other people, sometimes with more than one person. And it's great. Sorting Hat/Giant Squid, anyone?

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 02:14 AM

Yes. Good fics are best

Indeed. I love that about that fandom. Everyone can be with everyone else and it's ok! It's fun! And apparently no one was expecting black Blaise. But I'm delighted with it really. We've even come up with a backstory for Blaise's mother and why she's a black widow. In our head canon, death eaters killed Blaise's father. So to get revenge, his mother marries rich death eaters, then kills them. It makes sense!

Have you seen the Giant Squid/Hogwarts fic? O_o

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 02:24 AM

Giant Squid/Hogwarts?

THAT IS JUST THE BEST CRACK EVER.

...No, I haven't.

You know, that's the best explanation I've heard for Blaises's mom yet. Minor characters need more love.

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 02:29 AM

Yes! It's insane! I've only read it here with the commentary, but still, crazy! Read it XD

And yes, we thought it was pretty good. We love minor characters  It's always fun to flesh them out!

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 02:41 AM

Minor characters are starting to get love lately. Secondary characters too, like Luna and Neville (who I admit would be cute together). I guess it's because their backstories are usually not well-fleshed out like major characters are and it's interesting to fill in the gaps.

Edit: THAT WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER READ AND I SNORTED. No, really, that was the best crack ever since Adolescence Mokushiroku.

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 02:49 AM

I've always loved fleshing out minor characters. And I agree with the Luna/Neville. Although, I did read an adorable Luna/Ron fic the other day. :D

My friend and I discussed a Squid/Hogwarts/Draco/Harry foursome. I decided that the boys could plunge the toilets to stimulate Hogwarts *snickers* And the reason that even came to mind is because of what Draco does with the squid in this animation.

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 02:52 AM

I think I remember that one. Isn't that the one made by the same person who did Harry Potter/Death Note crossover animations? Because those are awesome.

Ron/Luna would be awfully cute, you got to admit. :)

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 02:52 AM

Yes, it is. :D

It was a really cute fic, which I may never find the link to again. ^_^;; But it was cute.

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 03:04 AM

Hm....

I think I hear an echo somewhere.

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 03:18 AM

Hallo-o-o-o!

Is anybody there-er-er-er?

Oscar-ar-ar?

Anybody-y-y-y!

Oscar the Wild 09-07-2009 01:53 PM

ECHOOOOO!

MY NAME IS OSCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

:D

For-Chan Cookie 09-07-2009 09:31 PM

Oscar the Wild Grouch? XD

Oscar the Wild 09-08-2009 01:20 AM

Was he the one that lived in a trash can? He's so cool.

For-Chan Cookie 09-08-2009 01:27 AM

Yes. Oscar lived in the trash can. We should probably steer the conversation back towards Boy Love though....do you think Bert and Ernie were boyfriends? :O
