Age is over-rated. I mean...some of us who started in are teens (I started Gaia when 18 but I've been rping since I was 12. So are those who put an age limit think that we who are geting up in age should just stop? Sure our time won't be as frequent as most teens but why cant older people still rp or play these silly arcade games? We have friends on these sites and high scores to hold on to! lol I am 23 years old and I hope that I am still rping when I'm 50! Its a very pleasant, harmless, cheep and safe pastime!

age doesn't matter for chat sites. Really its all about just chatting with people and having fun. Who cares how old you are. But with that said you probably won't find many (if any) 60+ year old on sites like these because it's not in their generation. So as time goes on we'll eventually find elderly people on sites like these, but for now there a generational gap of sorts keeping many of those faces away

Hollyshort 09-28-2009 03:10 AM

I don't believe any age is too old to be on avatar sites. If it makes you happy to be online and to talk with other people, why should you be restricted by your age? You could be 1 or 101 and I still wouldn't care.

Facade 09-28-2009 03:38 AM

SCREW AGE.
I meant to post this pages ago, but I didn't feel like it would be effective... But since this topic is still thriving, I just want to say that these sites are UNIVERSAL, and I am willing to share it with anyone of any age! Of course, I delight in talking with people who're 60+ versus ages 6-10, so if you're TOO young for the site, then you're in doo-doo.
But if you're not too YOUNG, come and have fun with us younglings!
I love talking to the more "prime" folk, because they're oftentimes the most interesting, the funniest, the wittiest, and generally the best conversationalists. I'm only 17 myself, but I'm fine conversing with them if they're not weirded out by how young I am!

The Internet has brought a whole new thing to the table since it was created - it has truly diminished the line between ages, from what I've noticed. Finally, it provides communities for everyone of any age to be a part of. It's just sad we base our social standards on age, sex, and all of that nonsense, in real life. We should really translate what we've learned on the intarwebz into our daily lives...

Just my two (and a half) cents. :)

One of the people I did a long Hive run with on zOMG! on Gaia was retired, and my best friend's mom and dad are both also on Gaia. I really don't think there's an age limit. If you find this sort of thing fun to do in your spare time, it really doesn't matter if you're 13 or 63. I know some people think there should be an age limit, but who really cares? If it bothers you to interact with the older crowd on these kinds of sites, just go to another area of the forums wherever you are. The internet is big for a reason.

Youre never too old to have fun and if avi sites are fun for you then age doesnt matter. I personally still like to color in coloring books every now and then too.

Enzeru 10-05-2009 02:58 AM

I do not think any age is too old.

Pyro neko jess 10-05-2009 03:55 AM

I don't think there is a limit as far as age for avatar sites go. All ages can enjoy dressing up and chatting with others.

Kole_Locke 10-05-2009 04:44 AM

I'm 30 years old, I started gaia almost 6 years ago, but I still love these sites.

Abby 10-05-2009 01:41 PM

I don't think being older means you can't be on sites like these =3 I'm 21 (which isn't old lol) but it does mean I'm not a little teen any more lol

I just like dressing up and being on sites like these :3 I love pixels too much to diverge from them xDD

Sakura_Madison 10-06-2009 04:35 AM

I really enjoy chatting around when I get the chance to.

I am not really a person that socializes with people in public, that much.

Plus, I have known people here that can be older than me. It is nice to talk about almost everything here.

Age is not really a factor that plays on here. There is always someone to talk to online.

Dejae 10-06-2009 04:41 AM

I don't think there's a problem with older people on avatar sites. I kind of wish my mom would learn how to use a computer so I can keep in touch with her easily. It's more convenient to send a private message than to call.

ichigo8504 10-06-2009 05:06 AM

I don't think anybody is TOO old for any avatar site. Some of us need to get away from reality and become a whole different person in our own virtual world. It is stressful out there. We have to listen to people telling us what to do. I am 24 years old and I will be on here until I get tired of it or if it gets shut down. My husband doesn't tell me to get off or that it is too childish. I take care of my duties as a wife and a mom. I come on here to relax and live in my own fantasy world. A world that I wish would come true. But we all know that won't happen.

NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL US THAT WE ARE TOO OLD!!!

I'm nineteen, and I had been on Gaia since I was 14 (2004.) I feel like I'm too old for Gaia. It's been overwhelmed by preteens and teenagers. Worst of all, a lot of the roleplaying forums have been taking over by scene kids who are encouraged to steal pictures from Myspace for their character appearances. I once saw this girl from my highschool's picture used. It was horrible!

Here on Menewsha, I've noticed a lot of the members are around my age or older. It's nicer because of the level of maturity.

I'm thinking of setting up a roleplay training grounds of some sort, though. Something to include basic rules of grammar. I post extremely long, detailed posts. (I make up for the boring length with humor.) It is hard for me to find roleplays that I like because of this. Either the posts are illiterate, or too short for people to be able to keep up with me. The few that are as literate as I prefer, have plots that cannot hold my attentions. (I am way to ADD now-a-days for a fantasy roleplay.)

Le sigh~

Well it may come as a shock to some people, but the 60+ generation is already here. I got on Gaia because my son coerced me to, and I have grandchildren on there as well. I seem to do everything late though... I went to college at age 45. I'm 62, build and fix computers for a hobby, and I am on just to chat. I'm working on getting them all on Mene... there are some awesome people as well as clothes on here.

If anyone gets on- no matter what their age- to hit on people I would hope the sites would kick them off. It would be extremely creepy to have them on a site I was on even for me.... and I wouldn't stay on that site.

Arlequin 10-07-2009 12:03 AM

I really don't think you're age should matter on this forum as long as everything stay appropriate.

I can see there a few other older people here which is cool. It would be kinda boring if we were all the same and the same age. We wouldn't be able to have as many diverse conversations / discussions on the forums.

I'm 24 and I'm here mainly for the games, I love them but the forums are also nice to see what people think about movies, anime, recent news. It's nice to be able to see other peoples opinions without filtering through tons of spam.

Yeah I don't think there is a too old as long as you have your life in order and you aren't spending night and day here... and thus ignoring your true responsibilities.

Nights Desire 10-07-2009 11:24 AM

I am twenty-five and have been on forums since I was eighteen. I don't think there is an age limit for forum sites, even ones that offer more than just a forum. The point of a forum is to allow users to communicate. There shouldn't be an age limit on that beyond younger users in 'not so family oriented' forums. I don't foresee myself giving up sites like these as I get older.

jellysundae 10-07-2009 01:25 PM

I didn't even know about forum sites until I was in my 30s, so why should I miss out because someone else thinks I'm too old?

Forums like ours are actually a fantastic way of gently educating people who's mindset about the internet/age might be a bit narrow. Because they can start chatting with someone, and become great friends with them, then get the shock of their lives when they find this person is a completely different generation to them, because let's face it endless people prejudge others, from both angles too...

Some young people dismiss anyone over a certain age as "old" and not fit to pass the time of day with. While some older people do the exact same to teens and so on, by tarring them all with the same brush and assuming they're all self-absorbed brats.

So it's wonderful to have these revelations online when a 16 year old finds out that this person they're great friends with and who they assumed was 18 is actually 35. Or for the lady in her 40s to be able to talk to kids who accept her as an equal and don't automatically put her in the "granny" catagory.

We're all the same age on the inside

laurenweird 10-08-2009 11:33 PM

I'm 21 and I'd hate to think I was ever too old to go on avatar sites. I love these places, and I don't want to stop just because I reach a certain age!

Insomnia of the Poet 10-09-2009 01:31 AM

No age is too old. If you have a comp and your not band then I think everyone is welcome!!:O

Lynnzette 10-09-2009 02:50 AM

I'd have been on the avatar sites when I was a lot younger if they'd had them... lol Also would have loved to have had a computer much earlier. It is difficult for me to believe there are still much younger people who don't have and/or don't know how to use a computer. I'd like to teach some of them how to use a computer... especially seniors as they tend to be much more isolated as they get older. It would help keep them in touch with family members who are far away, and keep them actively learning new things- very important in slowing Alzheimer's.

mihosama 10-09-2009 04:06 AM

I'm 24 and on gaia and just joined menewsha. I love it. your never too old for anything I think except diapers. why should the little ones have all the fun?

Me too!! I love this stuff, I love anime, and I love video games. I don't think you should have to stop doing the things you enjoy just because you are older. So long as you still enjoy it, you should keep doing it!

Labyrinth Doll 10-12-2009 09:09 AM

Too me it's like Halloween, you can never be too old. If you enjoy it then who cares what others think besides even though I'm only 18 I like to live by the philosophy that you're as old as you feel. Believe it or not a napkin gave me this ideal, it had an old nun riding a bike up a hill and it said "To Hell with aging!". I was 11 when I saw this and it made me want to buy them just so that when I get older I can stick it in the window of my car. xD

The Vermin Muse 10-12-2009 03:26 PM

I don't think age really matters. (: Why limit older people's fun?
