Ok..!
Got in contact with my family.
They said that the biggest problem for them is that my aunt has cancer. Besides that, they have usually had electricity while not all the time. And they are not allowed to go outside because the government ordered them not to, except if they travel by car to a shopping center or hospital. Otherwise, they gotta rely on what they have in the house. There are broken sidewalks and houses all over but theirs seems to be doing ok by the build of it. They can't come to the wedding because there is so much going on. She very seriously asked me if me sending a letter to them about me getting married was a joke. I don't really blame them though because the image they have of me was when I was a shy little 14 year old. They will send news to my other family in Japan, and they want pictures of the wedding, and want to see my husband. Lol, she kept on calling him my husband. My cousin hasn't been to school in a while because they can't travel outside. They are trying to make sure everyone stays safe.

And lol, I found out that if the phone number starts with a 0 you leave it off. xD That might have been why I was getting a busy signal the whole time before, but I'm not sure.
So like 011-81-phone number(10 digits if landline, 11 if cell)

Anywho...*wipes out* @[email protected]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-25-2011 02:44 AM

Well the good thing is that they are safe. The government there seems to be handling things pretty well.
That's nice though, them wanting pictures and all.

Lmao! The more you learn~

kuroshinigami 03-27-2011 05:53 PM

また、おっす!今、アパートに帰ったばかりので、眠いよ!たくさん旅行したりした。Mostl y I was just visiting friends and family, but we were driving a lot...>.<
Ahh, it's sad though, my spring break is already over T.T

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-28-2011 12:41 AM

!! It was Spring Break for me too. :B
Didn't do anything though besides spend prolonged amounts of time on Mene. xD

Nice you got to visit peeps though.

kuroshinigami 03-29-2011 02:41 AM

Lol at least it was a break from class, right? I actually wish I had a little more time to bum around, but at least the first week isn't too stressful!
Yup, it was good to see everyone again!

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-29-2011 02:57 AM

Yush. And those are always good.
I just wish I had done some homework; so I would be ahead. But oh well! :P

I want to go and visit my brother sometime soon, but I think it'll have to wait til about June.

りょこうが大好きです。

kuroshinigami 03-30-2011 05:07 PM

Ahh you had homework over spring break? That sucks. I have a feeling this quarter is going to be mind-blowing (in both good and bad ways) because my two studios seem work heavy. Yesterday I had my first ceramics class in a year, and the teacher went over some stuff and then said, "Okay, make 12 cylinders with two handles each by this Thursday." FML. I have eight cylinders done, so I have to make four more and do 24 handles tonight. Damn. Oh well, at least ceramics is fun ^^
Is your brother very far from you?
私もりょこうするのが好きです!

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-30-2011 05:49 PM

Nuuu!
I just wanted to be proactive and try and get some done so I would end up ahead, but nooope.
Zomg, that's how it was when we first started. It was all "Draw these people 20+ times!!"
It's lessened a lot now, but I was sneaking a peek at next week's work and we have draw like, 5 separate sets of eyes, noses, and mouths (I think..). I felt all overwhelmed just reading about it.
Yours seems like more work though! :gonk:
At least you're getting them done. b^^

My brother is .. 6 hours from me. Lots of family on this side of the country. In-laws, brother, mom, dad. My other brother lives in Arizona; so I've yet to visit him. Soo faar~

kuroshinigami 04-02-2011 01:23 AM

Ahh, an overachiever!! Haha, yeah I'm definitely not that. Sometimes, but not normally. Like today, I was supposed to be working on ceramics, but I took yesterday and today off. ^^
Damn, 20+?? Glad I'm not drawing, especially with that course load!! But, I know how you feel. That's my photo class. We have to make movie stills about our life, which is really awesome, but I hate photographing my own life, since it's so boring. I actually kind of know what I want to do, but getting it together and everything might be hectic >.<
Very true, at least that assignment is over! Making teabowls should be more fun ^^
Oh, we had to make stamps to mark our art, so mine is 黒 ^^ I'm sure my teacher will be like WTF when he sees it, haha
Wow, 6 hours is pretty far! Is the rest of your family pretty close though?

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-03-2011 11:46 PM

Haha. Only a wannabe one. I've still yet to do a shred of my homework. :gonk:
Yeah. It gets less and less as the course goes on because the assignments get more complex. Still though.. I'll always rather work on just one thing instead of 20. xD
Movie stills about your life? :O Never did that. I take a picture a day for a year, but that's my own ... task.
Lmao! Nice. You made that? How did you do that? :O
Haha, 6 hours isn't too bad since my mom is 9 hours away, but yeah, closest for my family is 6 hours. Family-in-law is only 3/4 hours. It will be weird if/when we move and we can't see all these people. xD

kuroshinigami 04-04-2011 05:46 AM

Lol then may I bow to a master at procrastination -add a bunch of bowing/sweeping/groveling motions HERE- haha ^^
Yeah, I'm with you there. I understand the reasoning behind multiples, but it gets boring after a while >.< I'd rather have some differences into the workload, otherwise you get that assembly line daze, which probably isn't the best for the creation of art...
Yeah, I've done a project with movie stills before, but never about my own life, which makes it difficult. Fortunately I love action movies, and have a friend who's in MMA, so I should be okay.
Teabowls? They're pretty easy to make, actually. Essentially they're cups without handles. There's two kinds we went over, the yunomi (http://www.yayateahouse.co.nz/images...i-Green-sm.jpg) and the chawan (http://www.jcollector.com/v/vspfiles...JJ618949-1.jpg). You see them in anime sometimes, only they look kind of wobbly and they're a green color. I think I've mostly seen the yunomi in anime though, not so much the chawan.
Wow, they're pretty far away. It's cool that your in-laws are close though! Ah, moving kind of sucks, not going to lie. I actually adapt pretty well, but it's a hassle, and I'm lazy, haha. Are you guys moving far?

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-04-2011 10:22 AM

Lmao! Oh you're too kind!

Yes definitely.. Assembly line daze is the perfect way to describe it. What sucks also, is that since it's online, you can't get critique until after you do the work, not during. So essentially you could end up doing the drawing wrong or something. xD
I suppose you could try and ask for help ahead of time, but then that's extra effort.

Good luck with the movie stills! > 3<

Aww とてもかわいい!
I think ちゃわん is the word I learned for bowl. O_o;

Yeah, I've moved so much in my life so far, it's not really a big deal to me anymore. Still a hassle, but not a big deal.
Oh we're not moving anywhere! I was just saying, it will be weird when we do end up moving. Whenever that will be.

kuroshinigami 04-04-2011 09:23 PM

Ah, that does suck. I always end up talking to the teacher constantly, making sure I'm not going in the wrong direction (which often happens, haha). Although it might be kind of nice to do your own thing too...I guess there's pros and cons to it :D
Thanks! Hopefully the rain will let up and everything will go smoothly.
うん、とてもすごいね!! Cool! I've never heard of it before. I just knew おさら was dishes. Nod.
Ahh I see. Yeah, I've only moved a couple times, and only once across state borders. Fortunately it was after graduation, so I got to graduate with my friends and all, but it was still a pain...

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-05-2011 02:14 AM

I never talk to the teacher.. xDD
I suppose it's different for working online.
For the writing class, I'm finding I love the critiques! <3

Oooh 雨.
It's supposed to rain here this morning. Apparently pretty badly too.. There's all kinds of weather alerts and stuff about it. Gosh, I hope everything's fine when I wake up. xDD

! I never knew there was a word for dishes. :O
I thought さら(皿) was plate? Does having the honorific change it?

いいですよ!
I've lived in 3 cities and moved 3 times in each city (well 4 for the first one).
Crazy~

kuroshinigami 04-06-2011 08:02 PM

Yeah, you're probably right about that! Sometimes it's hard to convey yourself over emails. Nod.
Ooh, is it a creative writing class?
Yeah, me too! Stay dry!!
We've actually been having a lot of rain recently. Right before spring break, we had so much that the river was way high. A bike trail runs next to it, and I always use that to go to Wal-mart to shop. I tried to go one night, because I needed an umbrella (my other one snapped in half, the cheap piece of shit) and in some places the water was right next to the pavement. In one part, the path dips down, and it was completely flooded so I couldn't cross. Well, I could have, but I didn't feel like swimming, haha. So I just went home instead ^^
Ahh, yeah you're right, お皿 is plate. I always use the word dishes for whatever reason ^^ I'm not sure if the honorific makes a difference or not. I don't think it changes the meaning. It's probably just how polite you want to sound...shrug...
Wow, that's a lot of moving. I've moved three times total. I guess if you count moving into dorms/my apartment for school it's 3 more times, but I don't really count it. I don't change my address for moving down here, so it's pretty much a long-term hotel room :P

strange_dreams_512 04-06-2011 09:33 PM

@みんなさん

Oooh wow

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-06-2011 09:52 PM

Just popping in to post this real quick.
There's a thread in GD that has an image that needs translating.
I tried for like 2 hours trying to find the damn kanji, but nope, totally evaded me.. xDD
Anywho, here's the link to the thread if anyone wants to give it a shot:

http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...ant-learn.html

kuroshinigami 04-13-2011 01:04 AM

Ikuaki: I think it says 読み取り, or よみとり, which means reading (noun). I could be wrong, but that's what my research tells me. It was a little hard to read the handwriting, so I could be off, but yeah. ^^

strange_dreams_512 04-13-2011 02:30 AM

Yup, you are right ^_^ and i posted so, lol. I think it's funny how many people were like, "i know some japanese but cant help you there", lol. Good job

hahaha... XD セクシーな男ね? 私はいいなずけがいるよ。 でも、黒さんはセクシーな男を見たいだったら、見てみてねぇ 。

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-13-2011 03:25 AM

@Kuro: So true.
I don't know. I've just never talked much with teachers. Never really had anything to talk about I guess. XD
Damn, that's crazy that it rained that much! I don't think we've had any issues with flooding, mainly tornados. Luckily none too near here.
Okay! Phew. I was a little worried that maybe I had mixed it up with another kanji or something.
Yes, a looot of moving.
Haha yeah, I don't count bootcamp and technical school as moves.
--
Okay. I kept finding all sorts of combinations.. Reading was one of them, but with all the others I couldn't be sure.

@Strange: I told you about my lacking Japanese lately! Don't beat me.

strange_dreams_512 04-13-2011 04:22 AM

lol dw ikuuu xD I get mixed up sometimes too. lol when you type it, it's so easy to know it's the right one. But when you are writing, lol. Takes more memory/concentration

Practice! xD
Translate each of these words without using a translator, other person, video, or book :3
1- 読みます
2- 話します
3- 英語

lol beat you? xD *offers you cookies, then pulls them away* Just kidding, have a cookie XD
:3 I just hope that you will continue your practice, that is all. You may consider me your sensei but it is up to you in the end if you want to learn ^^

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-13-2011 04:36 AM

Haha yeah. That and because I don't know much kanji anyway. Yet. :ninja:
-
Yeah I know. D: School has just been beating me up lately. I still try to keep some things going like listening to Japanese songs and reading the Japanese tweets of people I follow. Just no hardcore studying lately is all. Only... 5 more weeks until school is over though!
-
Gah!

1: To read? o.o;
2. わかりません! :gonk:
3. The last kanji looks familiar, it's the one you use in 日本語, but I don't know the first one. o_o;

strange_dreams_512 04-13-2011 06:23 AM

Okay.. ^^ well it's not like it has to be your main focus. It just would be a pity to lose progress, is all. I know like my dad, when he was little he knew Japanese fluently and that is the only language he knew. That is, until he moved to America and stopped using it, even though for a long time he still knew it. And now at 55 he barely knows any Japanese, and has to ask me any time he wants to build an actual sentence.

I would confidently say that your Japanese is better than my dad's, even though he is half Japanese and, well, taking into consideration what I said above XD How high of a level, well.. that may have changed since we talked more in Japanese, but I believe in your and your skills nonetheless ^^

So, haha :3 Moving on..
About those practice questions...

1. Correct. It is also used in 読んで, 読む and 読み取り. . .with the meaning of read/reading

2. Taking a look at the hiragana, you can tell that it ends with ます and so this word is indicating that it is a verb. Well, you know it's not read. Why not take a shot at it? Hint: You do this verb every day.

3. It's not フランス語 (French).. It's not ドイツ語 (German). Either way, you know what the last kanji means, correct?

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 04-13-2011 02:52 PM

Dang. I read something somewhere about this Japanese guy being stuck in Germany (I think it was Germany) since the war and pretty much losing all his Japanese language skills. Scary.

1. Ah okay.
2. :( Gwah. I don't remember my verbs.
3. 英語 Oh! English. Lmao. But yes, it's like a language marker.

strange_dreams_512 04-13-2011 06:58 PM

1. lol.. yup

2. Make an educated guess though! ^-^!! You walk every day, talk every day, sit, stand, breathe. . . Hmmm what could it be? (^o^)

3. yupyup! :3
