I've only ever seen it in names, like 花乃(Kano), 綾乃(Ayano), and 貴乃花(Takanohana)
Pronunciation is commonly "no".

I know it is familiar, and this kanji is used as a part of many other kanji, such as 阪 in 大阪.
There are many uses, and it is not something that I know how to explain well myself, so take a look at this site.
