Definetely ^^ lol I got sad whenever I ran out of battery at a shrine. I looove the gardens too x3
|
strange_dreams512 ~~ NHK has programs that show a lot of beautiful zen gardens. i love watching those programs because they are so relaxing and centering <3. do you get NHK? |
Hmm good idea ^^
I don't |
strange_dreams512 ~~ i don't know if NHK is online anywhere but it is a good channel with a lot of really great programing. |
un! ^__^
laa dee dah, old pic of being on a bus xD http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3...p/DSCN0465.jpg |
hiya strange_dreams512! *waves* that is one vacant train and i don't think i ever rode on one so empty. but then i rode on them mostly in Tokyo so it is not unexpected that they will be crowded, hai? |
Yeahh, lol. I hear all of these people here in America talking about how you can never get on an emptyish train on Japan, and I have to wonder where they got their information they insist is so accurate. ?_? In large cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, sure, but even then there were still seats unless it was rush hour, in my experience. Had to stand squished a few times in Tokyo, but being in suburbs I was usually on a train or bus as vacant as the pic I showed. Not bad at all, I'd say.
And, lol. My family is rich. lol. One of their houses--v (Aunt and uncle live here - their only house, to avoid confusion xD) http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3...p/DSCN0451.jpg |
oh very nice house. the one i lived in was more modern than normal. they were trying to attract gaijins (did i spell that correctly)? i loved it so much but my first experience was listening to the local news and hearing TYPHOON! had to close the storm windows and sit panicing just waiting to be blown away. |
Yeah, haha, correct spelling. I've not really seen it with the 's' at the end, but it works, I suppose since you're talking in mostly English. xD
Mhm first TV show I saw in Japan was about diving into water from high places, but that only lasted a few minutes before I saw something else about a typhoon. It's pretty common, so not too surprising. Omygosh.. I didn't experience it personally though because I was in central Japan at the moment, and it was happening in Southern Japan. Did you say? I don't remember... What part of Japan were you living in? I looove love love love my aunt and uncle's house (the one I showed), inside and out. XD +_+ It is so relaxing and beautiful, with the right amount of wood, stone, everything in balance. Their shower room is like a waterfall. It is so awesome :3 Unfortunately their roof got blown off in March.. :/ I do wonder if they have been able to get it repaired by now or if they are still living somewhere else at the moment. I should ask my other uncle (in Hawaii), since he makes calls to him often. hmmm |
bottom island. but i would have been petrified to live in Okinawa. though it is totally beautiful and i love visiting there. when it's thypoon season me no likie at all! |
Ohh okay ^w^ Right right... near where my dad was born, right? {He was born in Sasebo.}
Did you see any tributes to オレンジレンジ? {Apparently they are from Okinawa.} I've seen pictures but never been. Oh, haha, I believe you :B Lesse >w< This is the first restaurant I went to in Japan, and it was in Chiba, a treat from my aunt and uncle. The waitress had pink hair and reminded me of an anime character xD There was a girl playing a beautiful piano piece, and there was a small garden outside, high ceilings and candles inside. This picture is just of the very front entrance. You had to go through a small part of the building where you could meet the baker for the tons of different types of bread they served to you, and then you go through double glass doors to the main part of the restaurant. :3 http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3...p/DSCN0461.jpg |
yep close to where your father was born. the first resturant i went to i cannot remember the name. but it was one of the resturants that has the conveyer belt that brings the foods around. it was amazing! all the food was really good as well. but my favorite place to eat was 'big boys'. the food was a little more westernized and they had the best jasmine tea! *misses Japan so much* it feels like home to me. |
Ohhh, I see! I've been to tons of those in Oregon, USA. I wonder how similar they are. I only go to the ones that have no less than 2 Japanese chefs, lol. I hope that's not bad xD I can usually talk to the waitresses in Japanese and they treat us so well. We are regulars at a place called Sushi Hana. :3 Of course it is always nice to have a good sitdown restaurant from time to time with a menu and such, but as long as there's free hot tea, I'm not complaining. xP
Big boys? Hmm I haven't eaten there before. Yeah I miss it a lot too. I bet you miss it very very muchly xD |
a lot of noodle shops as well. i love how the ramen shops are so professional. i mean they don't take short cuts or act like it is 'just a soup'. well but most all of the people i met really treated their customers like they were their only customer. you don't usually find that in the states. |
YES. YES YES YES. I MISS REAL RAMEN.
I say that sometimes over here, and the people around me think I mean like ... maruchan and stuff you cook on the stovetop, comparing 'the other ramen' to be top ramen. Neither are really real, imho. They are good every once in a while, but once you have Ramen in Japan and recognize it as an actually refreshing, hearty soup... things change. I came back and had Chinese in America and could suddenly taste all the salt, butter and crap they put in it. Made me sick. I can eat it now but I still notice it, and don't have it as often as I used to. o_o" I want food from my grandma, is what I want! Her food was the bomb! Naw, but really. I would lay on the floor watching Scooby Doo, or snuggle up on the couch next to her grandfather clock, and she'd be working so hard in the kitchen, having so much fun though (note I was 3-4 most of this time and couldn't really help lol).. And she'd come out with fresh Japanese grapes, inari, or we'd have sukiyaki, maybe yakiniku or omuraisu... Good stuff, man  Yes, haha, customer service is a big thing to have down. So much gratitude. At the place I work, I hear my coworkers calling some customers a b**** or crazy and whatnot as they walk out the door, and it's shocks me to see how rude they can be. >_< Gotta learn some respect! I know plenty of people over here who show really great customer service too, but yeah, it just peevs me when it's so much on the other side of the spectrum. |
i love top ramen because it is cheap. i mean i have had myself a few ramen every day for a month mohth's. i bought a few boxes of them when they went on sale for 10 cents. but when you have a bowl of ramen in Japan you feel the love put into that bowl. people think i am weird saying that but until you actually have had a bowl you just don't know. when you finish that bowl of soup you have had a meal! i've watched some of ht shows that have competitions of eating a multitude of bowls and i wonder where these little ladies put all of that soup! i wish i knew the names of the shows but i don't. i miss them so much too. one of them was a sushi making/eating contest. you had to make the most and you could eat the competitions pieces as well. the silliset things make me happy and amuse me. |
Oh, omygosh. I understand the cheap part. I don't like it very often personally unless I switch it up. And I don't just mean the flavor packets, lol. I mean adding seaweed, or eggs, or shiitake mushrooms, etc. Or sometimes I will go ahead and have a spicy korean ramen. I think my hubby likes them a lot more than I do though (Ramen from America in general) but I think that his opinion will also change once he has it from a restaurant, lol.
And no, I know. The first bowl I had, I was impressed not only by the reasonable price for the size of the bowl, and the friendliness of the owner, but how refreshing it was and how many fresh ingredients were put in to my surprise. :B Lol, little ladies? xD haha, dunno... maybe they work it of o__O Lol.... Hubby looks over at my post now and says, "You make me want Ramen." .... We had an alternative 'Ramen' for dinner already, loools. Ohh, did they do cute little decorations like for school kid's bentou box from loving parents? ^w^ I bet it was plenty artsy. Or was it only about quantity? Oh, but of course ^_^ isn't that what life is all about? hehe |
oh the bento boxes are precious. i especially love the ones with sanrio characters. hello kitty all the way! |
Cool, he should be all right with them. Is he enlisted in the army then?
I haven't heard much about it lately. You? |
^w^ I want to be pro at making cute bentou food! It sounds like so much fun!
Yeah hehe I love HK :3 I like rilakkuma the best, personally, but HK is awesome ^.^ I have tons of merchandise over the years, lol. kuro- He was a Marine. He's in the Reserves now, but he is/was Sargent. |
oh strange_dreams_512 i wish i had saved my instrunctions. but their are a few little tricks i can still remember. i have hello kitty molds for rice and such then you just put little dividers between the foods. they are so pretty it's almost a shame to eat them ;p but i nom them nontheless ;] |
Oh, cool. lol I have a hello kitty toaster (which toasts it so that it shows her face on the toast) as well as a hello kitty waffle iron (which makes pancakes/waffles in the shape of hello kitty and rilakkuma heads. That's the closest that I have molds.
Where did you get it at? :3 |
i got them at Jusco, a department store there. i'm sure you can find them anywhere. i have a link to Jstore (or something like that) i'll look for it to send you. they might have them on that site as well. i also have a hello kitty toaster and hello kitty waffle/pancake maker. the toaster is a red/white one and the waffle/pancake maker is a pink and white head. i love them! |
Oh, I know Jusco.. lol.
mm, I love using mine too ..^^ Haven't gotten much of a chance but when I get in a place I'm allowed to use more than 5% of the kitchen I will... lol |
okay cool then you can get some from Jusco <3. i miss they way you get like little pressies when you shop. the first time i bought something at Jusco *it was a hello kitty cell phone charm* she started wrapping it and i was like 'oh no it's okay it's for me, no need to wrap it', and she didn't understand me so she kept wrapping it and then handed it to me in my bag with some hello kitty surprises and a charm attached to the jusco bag handles. i was in heaven! |
