Women Pirates?! Yeah RIGHT! // Sia & Anan
"Yo-ho, Yo-ho A Pirate's Life For Me..."
Two unsuspecting female pirates, and one tense encounter. An unexpected death, and one unwelcome union... At first. The Ladies: Name: Adelia Age: 26 Appearance: Adelia is about 5'5" and has a slightly larger body type than average- she's not too fat, but she has some chubbiness about her, and it shows, which she's pround of. He hair is down to her shoulder blades and is a dirty strawberry blonde (light brown-ish blonde that shines reddish). he has bright blue eyes, and fairly pale skin, that has been tanning since she turned pirate. Short Bio: Adelia never dreamed of becoming a pirate, but when her father died, she and her mother were kidnapped when a band of pirates raided their village. The pirates soon discovered her mother was sick with the flu, and she didn't last much longer after their capture, and died on the ship. The Captain took pity on the child, and despite the fact she was female, raised her as his own and taught her to pirate. Eventually, she made it up to first mate, until the captain was captured and hanged, which then made her Captain. Quote:

Sela joined her captain at the helm and pointed at the ship that they were fast approaching, "Captain, I may be crazy or sun blind or sumpin, but do you see another ship on the other side of that there merchant we're about to ram? May be a more interestin loot than we first thought."
The captain patted Sela on the arm and nodded his head. 'Good eyes ma girl, good eyes. I'm gonna ask ya ta keep the boys in line. If it's more pirates we'll have ta negotiate once the merchant crews d'posed of. Try en keep it friendly like, ok?' Sela nodded and left the captain to join the rest of the boarding party at the rails. "All right boys, looks like we may be sharin this one. Play nice with teh other rowdies and we'll see if we have ta kill them later. First priority is clearing the merchants and securing the load. Get ready, we're about to sideswipe". Sela braced herself on the railing and grabbed the rope she would be swinging onto the other ship with. It had taken her years to convince her captain to let her be part of the lead group onto a ship swarm and now she had to share the fun with another group of pirates. It figured something always has to ruin her fun. Lost in her own thoughts and stewing Sela almost missed the go whistle, shaking her head and giving a hearty yell Sela hopped onto the railing and launched herself towards the other ship and the waiting defenders, kicking her feet out in front of her and smiling to herself when she felt her boot make contact with a face. Now's the fun part, she thought to herself as she drew her sword and entered the melee. |
Adelia was barking orders when she saw it: Another ship, "'Ey, men! It seems as though we've got another ship after dis one. Dun attack tha other pirates, just tha merchant ship's men. Keep it fren'ly till I fin' out what tha others' plan is. We may be sharin' dis one." She yelled at the group near her, who then passed it to the other groups. They knew not to defy Adelia, even though she was a woman- after all, she was their Captain now. This was their first ship raid since the previous captain had died, which wasn't long ago at all. Some of the men were nervous about being led by the woman captain, there were never many women pirates, so a woman captain was a new idea. The rest of the men trusted Adelia with their lives, and they knew it may come to that, as with being pirate under any captain.
She loved raids. She loved invading the other ship and taking over. The pure exhilaration that it cause was like a drug... But this time around, she would have to share that feeling with strangers, other pirates. First, she had to negotiate with their captain and see where they stood. She was all for sharing this one, since it never happened, and even though it wasn't the pirate thing to do; however, if the other captain wasn't willing to negotiate, especially with a female captain, she had no problem taking all the loot for herself... She turned the ship to pull to the side of the merchant ship, and when it was set, she trusted the help to a younger pirate, but not a new one- never a new one. This one knew what to do, and he always did it well. Typically, the first mate was trusted with the job of maintaining the ship, but since the ship's First Mate had yet to be named, she just trusted it to those who knew could actually be trusted. A moment and rope swing later, Captain Adelia and her crew were on the ship and in battle. Attacking any of the merchant ship's crew they could, and helping out any pirate they could as well. While that was going on, Adelia, aside from the fighting, was also searching for the captain, if he was one to board the ship. Well, he or she, though the latter was unlikely. |
Sela hacked and slashed and helped round up the merchants. She was pleasantly surprised when the other pirates helped instead of attacking them right away.
Once all the merchants were either dead or herded into a corner Sela grabbed some of her men to head below deck and start bringing up the load. On her way down she caught sight of another woman on the ship and almost did a double take, not very often she saw women in her line of work. "Boys, she yelled loudly, "lets get this stuff up top so we can see about dividin it. This looks like a rich little tub, should be 'nuf to go around." She mostly spoke out loud for the benefit of the other pirates. Her men knew exactly what to do, but they caught on that she mentioned sharing and started to repeat the instructions in the hopes of avoiding more confrontations for the moment. If there was going to be a fight they wanted it to be at the captain's orders, and not because someone got jumpy. |
Adelia looked for the captain, but whilest doing so, the fight concluded, and she decided her time would be best suited giving her men the orders she was supposed to. "Help tha others bring up tha loot, everyone else, keep an eye on tha ones we 'aven't killed yet." she said loudly enough to be heard by everyone, not just her men. She wasn't sure yet if she could trust the other pirates, so she wanted to make sure she got half the rewards for doing half the work. The several memebers of the crew who usually did the lifting went with the other ship's crew, the rest either followed her for back up, or kept an eye on the remaning merchant crew.
Adelia stood tall, sword in hand, having kept it out in case on of the merchant crew tried anything, as well as the other pirates, "Where be ye Cap'n?" she asked loud to the remaining members of the other pirate clan. |
Sela was coming up the stairs with her arms full of bolts of silk fabrics when she hears a call for the captain. She tossed the fabric into the growing loot pile and headed towards the woman, keeping her sword sheathed and her hands visible. Captains behind the wheel. I suppose yer capt 'an mine 'ell be needen to talk this out. I ken call 'em over and be his relay, or maybe he'll come on here his self since things seem to be OK and he won't be needin to sink any ships for the moment.
Sela crossed her arms over her chest while she was talking and shifted from foot to foot occasionally glancing towards her ship and the men that were coming up onto the deck from below, it was really freaking her out to be dealing with another woman and she didn't want her discomfort to show. It had been a month since her ship had last been in port, and that's how long it had been since she'd interacted with anyone other than her fellow crew or men that were about to die on raided ships. Sorry for the long delay- I was out of town and away from my computer. |
Adelia looked at the woman pirate before her. Being one herself, she knew what a rare sight a woman pirate was. She laughed a little at what the woman was saying. She obviously didn't know, "I'll be tha one speakin' with ye cap'n. I am tha cap'n of the Lucinda, I be tha one ye cap'n needs tah be speakin' tah." She took pride whenever she corrected someone and pointed out she was the captain. It was so beyond rarity it was as though it was unspoken taboo.
|
"Well then, I suppose I'll jest go an get 'em for ye then."
Sela turned stiffly away from the other woman and practically ran to the rail to call to her captain, the snotty laugh that woman had given when correcting Sela really irritated her and immediately put her into an almost rage that she was trying her best to control. Why would her being the captain make me so mad. I should be happy, it means there's hope for me yet to have my own ship, but that bitch got it before me, and she likes to rub it in. Grrr, just get the captain and let him deal with her. Capt', ken ye come on over? The other capt' wants ta talk wit you 'bout the merch and splitting it up. |
"Well, thank you." Adelia glared after her. She couldn't tell why, but something about the other woman grinded her the wrong way. Adelia always thought it would be amazing to meet another woman pirate, maybe she could even act like a woman instead of a man for once... Apparently the case was the opposite. She glared out at the see as she thought, 'I guess this is how women act, other women anyway- they're bitter and territorial.' she shrugged.
It really wouldn't be her problem much longer anyway, so it wasn't worth getting into a tiff about it. |
The captain waved to Sela at her call and secured the helm. Once it was secure he started to head towards the railing to board the merchant ship when all of a sudden his knot came undone and the Marque rammed into the side of the merchant ship, tearing a large hole in both ships.
Sela stumbled and grabbed onto the rail when the ships collided and let loose a string of curses. "What the bloody hell was that?" Once she was steady she chanced leaning over the rail, a low moan escaped her when she saw the gaping hole in the merchant ship, and then she noticed the matching gash in Marque and more curses rose in her throat. Turning away from the scene Sela ran back towards the other captain and the waiting crew "Abandon ship! Grab what you can and get off, this tub is going down!" |
Adelia's eyes widened as the ships collided, and she and her crew were rocked. "Do what she says! Grab what you can and get on the Lucinda!" With that, everyone on the merchant ship's deck moved to the other side of the ship and leaped onto the only remaining vessel. Adelia's crew helped the prisioners and the willing from the merchant crew over, as well as grabbing whatever they could of the loot as quickly as possible. Adelia was sure to be one of the last off, seeing as she was captain and it was her duty to ensure her crew's safety.
She turned to the other woman and her captain and yelled, "Come on! Ye kin join the Lucinda, ah leas' fer now." |
Sela thought very little and instead grabbed a handful of the silks and ran towards the only undamaged ship that was left. When she reached the rail she tossed the silks over and then launched herself after them.
The landing was a bit rough and involved a tumble, but she was on a ship that was not sinking, and that was what mattered. Picking herself up Sela went back to the rail to help bring over any people or loot that was being passed over, the whole while she was looking for her captain and she was getting more and more worried about him and the fact that she couldn't seem to locate him. I'm going to be really sporadic here for a while - my wedding is in a little over 3 weeks (October 10th) and I have a lot of random little bullshit things that need to be taken care of before it happens and then I'll be away on my honeymoon the 11-19th so I'm not very likely to be around. I hope to be a better role play partner after this is all done with. I just hope you don't lose interest before we really get started because I'm so busy right now. |
Adelia looked around and not seeing anything or anyone left that needed help. She grabbed a last handful of what she could and, assuming everyone was off the ships that were going down, she jumped back to her own, much the same way Sela had. She moved onto her knees quickly to look back at the other vessels, just in time to watch them go down. She stood quick as she could and removed her hat. It was always an ugly sight to see two beautiful vessels as such go down.
She looked around to see the now very crowded deck was missing some people. Apparently, not everyone had made it over. Her eyes darted around, checking people over, "Where is tha cap'n of tha otha ship?!" (( OH WOW! Congradulations! n___n I hope it turns out wonderful! Don't worry about it, it'll be fine. I won't lose interest either. I pretty much never lose interest in RPs, and especially not in one as good as ours seems it'll be. =] I understand completely though. n_n )) |
Once everyone the was able to was on the last ship Sela began again her search for the captain.
As she passed by the other woman she hears her asking after the captain so she stopped, "Can't seem to be findin him. I'm beginning to think 'e didn make it." One of her crew mates wandered by and Sela grabbed him and pulled him over, "Pete, tell me ya seen the capt. on this here ship!" Pete jsut shook his head and pointed out towards the water, indicating that the captain didn't make it across the ship and one the undamaged one before the other two sank. "Shit, shit shit. . . . well shit.." Sela looked back towards the woman and shook her head, "Looks like you got a lot of extra crew fer the moment. If Pete says 'e didn make it, then the Capt didn make it." (Hey thanks, and I'm glad things are moving OK here for you. We may be slow, but we'll keep it going for a while I think ;) )) |
The woman captain bowed her head for the one that had been lost. "Well, ye be welcome 'ere as long as yer willin' to stay. All of ye." she nodded, with a small, what she hoped was a reassuring smile. "I am sorry 'e didn' make it though. 'S always a shame tah lose a cap'n to tha sea."
She then started barking orders at the crew, "Take tha loot where it belongs! An' take tha merchant crew tah where they need be dealt with." she said. She knew her crew wouldn't hurt anyone, unless absolutely neccessary. She actually assumed most the merchants would be joining them for good. She looked at the other woman, "Ye kin be incharge of tha crew from yer ship. I'm sure they'll lis'n tah you better than me." she said. It wasn't often a pirate gave up any amount of their power, especially to share it, but Adelia was offering a sort of comradory, "I be Adelia, Cap'n Adelia, by tha way." she said, feeling the need for a proper introduction. |
Sela grimaced and stuck out her hand,"Sela, how long afore we'll be in port. Don wan to be infringing on yer hospitality for longer than necessary,". Sela did her best to keep sarcasm from seeping into her voice while talking with the captain. Her telling Sela she she could be in charge of her ship's crew was vaguely insulting and irritating for sure, although the woman probably was trying to be nice.
Play nice Sela, play nice. Never irritate the man in charge, they can have you tossed overboard. |
Adelia took the woman's hand and shook it, not too hard, "Yer welcome here as long as ye like, but we should be in port in about a day or two, I'd say. Two at most, a day's more likely, 'specially if tha win's on our side as it has been." she said, looking about. Now, she was trying not to look at the lady pirate. Adelia didn't like her, and it was obvious Sela didn't like Adelia either. She may have been trying to hide her unfriendly tones from Adelia, but Adelia did pick up on them slightly. She couldn't be one-hundred-percent sure that they were hostile, or even actually there, but the cap'n had a good feeling they were...
((Hey, getting close to your wedding! One week, right? Are you excited? n_n; Sorry I haven't replied quickly, got caught up in college and stuff.)) |
Sela nodded at the time estimate and pretended that she didn't notice Adelia wouldn't look at her.
Right then. When ya want to start the divvyin process? An do ya has extra bunks below, or will me 'n da guys be sleepin under the stars on deck? OMG- sorry it's been so long - the wedding went fantastically, and the honeymoon was fun. Just not finally starting to get back into teh swing of things. |
Captain Adelia looked over the deck at the loot, "We can have some of my men and your men do it now. I have other things to do." she told her, "As for sleepin' arrangements, there are some bunks down below, but I don' know how many of yours will fit down there, so some of yah are going to have to be on deck, unless some of my men want to give up their beds. I wouldn' bank on that though." she looked to her first mate and nodded, and he went to the helm. He had been walking towards her to make sure things were alright, but she had nodded him off. She looked back to Sela, breifly, waiting for a response to all she had just said.
((That's great. n____________n I'm glad everything went well! Don't worry, you'll get into the swing of things again. )) |
Sela nodded in agreement when Adelia mentioned it not being likely no-one would give up sleeping space for them "I figgered tha's how it would end up beein. I'll send a few down ta see how many bunks are empty & we'll draw straws on who sleeps where. I'll help wit the sortin.
Sela nodded again and headed over towards the cluster of men who came from her ship. Three of them broke off from the group and headed below to count bunks and most of the rest of them dispersed to relax. Two men stayed with Sela to head towards the look to help her sort. |
With Gregory, her first mate, at the helm, she gathered a small group of her most honest pirates, other than the ones that were helping with the sorting, and had a chat with them. They were to help the outsider pirates the best they could. Adelia knew none of her men would be too thrilled about sharing the Lucinda with the outsiders, but she knew she commanded them better than to show it. The group she had rounded up this small group of five to be mediators, to prevent the tension from getting too heavy between the crew. Between the captain and the.. other woman pirate, the tension would surely not be controllable.
When they had set off to do their bit, including their typical duties, Captain Adelia set out below, to warn the cook of the extra mouths to feed. His shock was evident, but his willingness to comply was even more easily readable. They had recently acquired extra rations, a bit more than they had needed, and he was happy to see them not go to waste. After the visit to the cook, Adelia went back up to the helm and made sure he had it under control. She checked their destination coordinates and when had she made sure they were correct, she turned to leave, but Gregory caught her with- "Are ye sure iss a good idea tah be havin' dem otha pirates aboard?" She turned back and looked at him, "I 'ad no otha choice. I couldn' let 'em all die." she told him, to which Gregory shook his head and laughed a small laugh at her sympathetic nature, then turned back to the helm. The Captain went back down to the deck where the loot was and observed a brief moment before asking the lot working on dividing the goods, "How's it goin' 'ere?" |
Sela looked over the loot from the merchant and shook her head, it was mostly silks and other fine fabrics. They could sell for a decent sum with the right store, but had no real good use for her or probably any of the other pirates. Would be difficult to sell since the people who would be wanting fins silks would not be dealing with the fences she knew. Too many hands means less gold for her in the end.
With a sigh Sela squatted down and started looking through the rolls of silk, "Ok, you guys, looks ta me like we're stuck with all this 'ere fancy fabric. Don know 'bout you, but I gots little use for this. What ye say we split 60/40 and call it good. If'en we get to jewels we'll have ta negotiate value afore we split, but as far as the silk I figger a roll is a roll is a roll. Good for ye? Sela was squatting on the deck feeling one of the rolls of silk when she heard Adelia. Without getting up she turned to look at her and nodded, "We're figgerin 60/40 split - you gettin more since we're guests an all . . . " Sela gestured towards the silks and her men when she mentioned being guests and smiled up at the woman, hoping she would be amicable to the deal. |
Adelia was surprised that Sela had decided 60-40 was a fair split when Adelia was expecting 50-50. The captain nodded slowly, "Aye, if ye think that be a fair split, I'll agree to it." she said, looking over the silk. "I kin fin' uses for this, no pro'lem." she laughed a little and smiled. Not many of the crew knew it, but the captain could sew very well. She was able to make dresses and things that they could then sell on the streets or at carnivals or some places like those where fabric like that was valued. Selling the cloth alone would indeed result in a pathetic amount for the trouble it was getting it.
The captain then addressed the more business portion, "Whatever gold an' jewels we be comin' across is 50-50, natur'ly. Do ye disagree?" |
Sela bit back her surprise when the captain offered a 50/50 split for jewels. She had hoped for that, but was expecting to have to fight for it, not trusting herself to speak she simply nodded and held out her hand to shake on the deal.
Just then Pete came back up from below deck and approached Sela, "Erm, Sel, so we gots some bunks. Me 'en the guys been thinkin and, well," he paused to scratch his head and shuffle his feat a bit, obviously stalling. Sela tried not to smile at his hesitation to piss her off,"Spit it out man. Making it take longer just annoys me." He strightend up and nodded, "Right. Err, well, me 'en the boys don wan you sleepin below wit the mens. We figger iffen you sleep up on deck we ken . . . we ken . . watch ya." As he finished his last word Pete took a step back and flinched, as if expecting to be beaten. Sela threw back her head and let loose a peal of laughter, Pete, I'll not be beaten ya for lookin out fer me. I's appreciate it, but I ken take care of meself. Sela chucked quietly to herself again and shook her head as Pete practically ran away to the other guys to let them know what she said and went back to the pile of silks and crates in front of her. |
The Captain watched the scene between Sela and her crew mate. Adelia decided to make the offer at the least, "If you'd like, I kin offer yah my floor in my cabin, rather 'n you sleepin' on tha deck." she said, looking down as they sorted through the goods.
((Sorry it's so short. I couldn't think of what to post. >< )) |
